ヨハネの福音書 21
1 そののち、イエスはテベリヤの海べで、ご自身をまた弟子たちにあらわされた。そのあらわされた次第は、こうである。
After this Jesus again manifested himself to the disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. He manifested himself in this way:
2 シモン・ペテロが、デドモと呼ばれているトマス、ガリラヤのカナのナタナエル、ゼベダイの子らや、ほかのふたりの弟子たちと一緒にいた時のことである。
Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael (from Cana of Galilee), the sons of Zebedee, and two of Jesus' other disciples were together.
3 シモン・ペテロは彼らに「わたしは漁に行くのだ」と言うと、彼らは「わたしたちも一緒に行こう」と言った。彼らは出て行って舟に乗った。しかし、その夜はなんの獲物もなかった。
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with yoʋ.” So they immediately went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 夜が明けたころ、イエスが岸に立っておられた。しかし弟子たちはそれがイエスだとは知らなかった。
When daybreak came, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus.
5 イエスは彼らに言われた、「子たちよ、何か食べるものがあるか」。彼らは「ありません」と答えた。
Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught any fish to eat?” They answered him, “No.”
6 すると、イエスは彼らに言われた、「舟の右の方に網をおろして見なさい。そうすれば、何かとれるだろう」。彼らは網をおろすと、魚が多くとれたので、それを引き上げることができなかった。
He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it and were unable to draw it in because of the large number of fish.
7 イエスの愛しておられた弟子が、ペテロに「あれは主だ」と言った。シモン・ペテロは主であると聞いて、裸になっていたため、上着をまとって海にとびこんだ。
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had taken it off) and plunged into the sea.
8 しかし、ほかの弟子たちは舟に乗ったまま、魚のはいっている網を引きながら帰って行った。陸からはあまり遠くない五十間ほどの所にいたからである。
But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards away.
9 彼らが陸に上って見ると、炭火がおこしてあって、その上に魚がのせてあり、またそこにパンがあった。
When they had gone ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there with a fish lying on it, and bread.
10 イエスは彼らに言われた、「今とった魚を少し持ってきなさい」。
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
11 シモン・ペテロが行って、網を陸へ引き上げると、百五十三びきの大きな魚でいっぱいになっていた。そんなに多かったが、網はさけないでいた。
So Simon Peter went aboard and drew the net ashore, full of large fish, one hundred fifty-three of them. Although there were so many, the net had not torn.
12 イエスは彼らに言われた、「さあ、朝の食事をしなさい」。弟子たちは、主であることがわかっていたので、だれも「あなたはどなたですか」と進んで尋ねる者がなかった。
Then Jesus said to them, “Come eat breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are yoʋ?” because they knew it was the Lord.
13 イエスはそこにきて、パンをとり彼らに与え、また魚も同じようにされた。
Then Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them. He did likewise with the fish.
14 イエスが死人の中からよみがえったのち、弟子たちにあらわれたのは、これで既に三度目である。
This was now the third time that Jesus had been revealed to his disciples after he had been raised from the dead.
15 彼らが食事をすませると、イエスはシモン・ペテロに言われた、「ヨハネの子シモンよ、あなたはこの人たちが愛する以上に、わたしを愛するか」。ペテロは言った、「主よ、そうです。わたしがあなたを愛することは、あなたがご存じです」。イエスは彼に「わたしの小羊を養いなさい」と言われた。
When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ love me more than these?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
16 またもう一度彼に言われた、「ヨハネの子シモンよ、わたしを愛するか」。彼はイエスに言った、「主よ、そうです。わたしがあなたを愛することは、あなたがご存じです」。イエスは彼に言われた、「わたしの羊を飼いなさい」。
Jesus said to him a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ love me?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
17 イエスは三度目に言われた、「ヨハネの子シモンよ、わたしを愛するか」。ペテロは「わたしを愛するか」とイエスが三度も言われたので、心をいためてイエスに言った、「主よ、あなたはすべてをご存じです。わたしがあなたを愛していることは、おわかりになっています」。イエスは彼に言われた、「わたしの羊を養いなさい。
Then Jesus said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ care for me?” Peter was grieved that Jesus said to him the third time, “Do yoʋ care for me?” And he said to him, “Lord, yoʋ know everything; yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
18 よくよくあなたに言っておく。あなたが若かった時には、自分で帯をしめて、思いのままに歩きまわっていた。しかし年をとってからは、自分の手をのばすことになろう。そして、ほかの人があなたに帯を結びつけ、行きたくない所へ連れて行くであろう」。
Truly, truly, I say to yoʋ, when yoʋ were younger, yoʋ would dress yoʋrself and walk wherever yoʋ wanted to go; but when yoʋ grow old, yoʋ will stretch out yoʋr hands, and another will dress yoʋ and bring yoʋ where yoʋ do not want to go.”
19 これは、ペテロがどんな死に方で、神の栄光をあらわすかを示すために、お話しになったのである。こう話してから、「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われた。
(He said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.) After saying this, he said to Peter, “Follow me.”
20 ペテロはふり返ると、イエスの愛しておられた弟子がついて来るのを見た。この弟子は、あの夕食のときイエスの胸近くに寄りかかって、「主よ、あなたを裏切る者は、だれなのですか」と尋ねた人である。
Then Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them (the one who had leaned back on Jesus' chest at the supper and said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray yoʋ?”)
21 ペテロはこの弟子を見て、イエスに言った、「主よ、この人はどうなのですか」。
When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”
22 イエスは彼に言われた、「たとい、わたしの来る時まで彼が生き残っていることを、わたしが望んだとしても、あなたにはなんの係わりがあるか。あなたは、わたしに従ってきなさい」。
Jesus said to him, “If I wish for him to remain until I come, what is that to yoʋ? Yoʋ follow me!”
23 こういうわけで、この弟子は死ぬことがないといううわさが、兄弟たちの間にひろまった。しかし、イエスは彼が死ぬことはないと言われたのではなく、ただ「たとい、わたしの来る時まで彼が生き残っていることを、わたしが望んだとしても、あなたにはなんの係わりがあるか」と言われただけである。
So the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not tell him that he would not die; he only said, “If I wish for him to remain until I come, what is that to yoʋ?”
24 これらの事についてあかしをし、またこれらの事を書いたのは、この弟子である。そして彼のあかしが真実であることを、わたしたちは知っている。
This is the disciple who is testifying about these things and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
25 イエスのなさったことは、このほかにまだ数多くある。もしいちいち書きつけるならば、世界もその書かれた文書を収めきれないであろうと思う。
There are also many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were to be written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have room for the books that would be written. Amen.
