ヨハネの福音書 12
1 過越の祭の六日まえに、イエスはベタニヤに行かれた。そこは、イエスが死人の中からよみがえらせたラザロのいた所である。
Then Jesus, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 イエスのためにそこで夕食の用意がされ、マルタは給仕をしていた。イエスと一緒に食卓についていた者のうちに、ラザロも加わっていた。
There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
3 その時、マリヤは高価で純粋なナルドの香油一斤を持ってきて、イエスの足にぬり、自分の髪の毛でそれをふいた。すると、香油のかおりが家にいっぱいになった。
Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.
4 弟子のひとりで、イエスを裏切ろうとしていたイスカリオテのユダが言った、
Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son], who was to betray him,
5 「なぜこの香油を三百デナリに売って、貧しい人たちに、施さなかったのか」。
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
6 彼がこう言ったのは、貧しい人たちに対する思いやりがあったからではなく、自分が盗人であり、財布を預かっていて、その中身をごまかしていたからであった。
This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put in it.
7 イエスは言われた、「この女のするままにさせておきなさい。わたしの葬りの日のために、それをとっておいたのだから。
Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burial hath she kept this.
8 貧しい人たちはいつもあなたがたと共にいるが、わたしはいつも共にいるわけではない」。
For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.
9 大ぜいのユダヤ人たちが、そこにイエスのおられるのを知って、押しよせてきた。それはイエスに会うためだけではなく、イエスが死人のなかから、よみがえらせたラザロを見るためでもあった。
Many people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 そこで祭司長たちは、ラザロも殺そうと相談した。
But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
11 それは、ラザロのことで、多くのユダヤ人が彼らを離れ去って、イエスを信じるに至ったからである。
Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
12 その翌日、祭にきていた大ぜいの群衆は、イエスがエルサレムにこられると聞いて、
On the next day, many people that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 しゅろの枝を手にとり、迎えに出て行った。そして叫んだ、「ホサナ、主の御名によってきたる者に祝福あれ、イスラエルの王に」。
Took branches of palm-trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna; Blessed [is] the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
14 イエスは、ろばの子を見つけて、その上に乗られた。それは
And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
15 「シオンの娘よ、恐れるな。見よ、あなたの王がろばの子に乗っておいでになる」と書いてあるとおりであった。
Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
16 弟子たちは初めにはこのことを悟らなかったが、イエスが栄光を受けられた時に、このことがイエスについて書かれてあり、またそのとおりに、人々がイエスに対してしたのだということを、思い起した。
These things his disciples understood not at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written concerning him, and [that] they had done these things to him.
17 また、イエスがラザロを墓から呼び出して、死人の中からよみがえらせたとき、イエスと一緒にいた群衆が、そのあかしをした。
The people therefore that were with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bore testimony.
18 群衆がイエスを迎えに出たのは、イエスがこのようなしるしを行われたことを、聞いていたからである。
For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 そこで、パリサイ人たちは互に言った、「何をしてもむだだった。世をあげて彼のあとを追って行ったではないか」。
The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
20 祭で礼拝するために上ってきた人々のうちに、数人のギリシヤ人がいた。
And there were certain Greeks among them, that came to worship at the feast.
21 彼らはガリラヤのベツサイダ出であるピリポのところにきて、「君よ、イエスにお目にかかりたいのですが」と言って頼んだ。
The same came therefore to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
22 ピリポはアンデレのところに行ってそのことを話し、アンデレとピリポは、イエスのもとに行って伝えた。
Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again, Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
23 すると、イエスは答えて言われた、「人の子が栄光を受ける時がきた。
And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。一粒の麦が地に落ちて死ななければ、それはただ一粒のままである。しかし、もし死んだなら、豊かに実を結ぶようになる。
Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, shall keep it to life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
26 もしわたしに仕えようとする人があれば、その人はわたしに従って来るがよい。そうすれば、わたしのおる所に、わたしに仕える者もまた、おるであろう。もしわたしに仕えようとする人があれば、その人を父は重んじて下さるであろう。
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honor.
27 今わたしは心が騒いでいる。わたしはなんと言おうか。父よ、この時からわたしをお救い下さい。しかし、わたしはこのために、この時に至ったのです。
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause I came to this hour.
28 父よ、み名があがめられますように」。すると天から声があった、「わたしはすでに栄光をあらわした。そして、更にそれをあらわすであろう」。
Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, [saying], I have both glorified [it], and will glorify [it] again.
29 すると、そこに立っていた群衆がこれを聞いて、「雷がなったのだ」と言い、ほかの人たちは、「御使が彼に話しかけたのだ」と言った。
The people therefore that stood by, and heard [it], said that it thundered. Others said, An angel spoke to him.
30 イエスは答えて言われた、「この声があったのは、わたしのためではなく、あなたがたのためである。
Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
31 今はこの世がさばかれる時である。今こそこの世の君は追い出されるであろう。
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 そして、わたしがこの地から上げられる時には、すべての人をわたしのところに引きよせるであろう」。
And I, if I shall be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] to me.
33 イエスはこう言って、自分がどんな死に方で死のうとしていたかを、お示しになったのである。
(This he said, signifying what death he should die.)
34 すると群衆はイエスにむかって言った、「わたしたちは律法によって、キリストはいつまでも生きておいでになるのだ、と聞いていました。それだのに、どうして人の子は上げられねばならないと、言われるのですか。その人の子とは、だれのことですか」。 (aiōn g165)
The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? (aiōn g165)
35 そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「もうしばらくの間、光はあなたがたと一緒にここにある。光がある間に歩いて、やみに追いつかれないようにしなさい。やみの中を歩く者は、自分がどこへ行くのかわかっていない。
Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 光のある間に、光の子となるために、光を信じなさい」。イエスはこれらのことを話してから、そこを立ち去って、彼らから身をお隠しになった。
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spoke Jesus, and departed, and concealed himself from them.
37 このように多くのしるしを彼らの前でなさったが、彼らはイエスを信じなかった。
But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 それは、預言者イザヤの次の言葉が成就するためである、「主よ、わたしたちの説くところを、だれが信じたでしょうか。また、主のみ腕はだれに示されたでしょうか」。
That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 こういうわけで、彼らは信じることができなかった。イザヤはまた、こうも言った、
Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again,
40 「神は彼らの目をくらまし、心をかたくなになさった。それは、彼らが目で見ず、心で悟らず、悔い改めていやされることがないためである」。
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 イザヤがこう言ったのは、イエスの栄光を見たからであって、イエスのことを語ったのである。
These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
42 しかし、役人たちの中にも、イエスを信じた者が多かったが、パリサイ人をはばかって、告白はしなかった。会堂から追い出されるのを恐れていたのである。
Nevertheless, among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess [him], lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43 彼らは神のほまれよりも、人のほまれを好んだからである。
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 イエスは大声で言われた、「わたしを信じる者は、わたしを信じるのではなく、わたしをつかわされたかたを信じるのであり、
Jesus cried, and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me:
45 また、わたしを見る者は、わたしをつかわされたかたを見るのである。
And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me:
46 わたしは光としてこの世にきた。それは、わたしを信じる者が、やみのうちにとどまらないようになるためである。
I am come a light into the world, that whoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 たとい、わたしの言うことを聞いてそれを守らない人があっても、わたしはその人をさばかない。わたしがきたのは、この世をさばくためではなく、この世を救うためである。
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 わたしを捨てて、わたしの言葉を受けいれない人には、その人をさばくものがある。わたしの語ったその言葉が、終りの日にその人をさばくであろう。
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
49 わたしは自分から語ったのではなく、わたしをつかわされた父ご自身が、わたしの言うべきこと、語るべきことをお命じになったのである。
For I have not spoken from myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
