ヨブ 記 13
1 見よ、わたしの目は、これをことごとく見た。わたしの耳はこれを聞いて悟った。
Lo, my eye hath seen all [this], my ear hath heard and understood it.
2 あなたがたの知っている事は、わたしも知っている。わたしはあなたがたに劣らない。
What ye know, [the same] do I know also: I [am] not inferior to you.
3 しかしわたしは全能者に物を言おう、わたしは神と論ずることを望む。
Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
4 あなたがたは偽りをもってうわべを繕う者、皆、無用の医師だ。
But ye [are] forgers of lies, ye [are] all physicians of no value.
5 どうか、あなたがたは全く沈黙するように。これがあなたがたの知恵であろう。
O that ye would altogether hold your peace and it would be your wisdom.
6 今、わたしの論ずることを聞くがよい。わたしの口で言い争うことに耳を傾けるがよい。
Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
7 あなたがたは神のために不義を言おうとするのか。また彼のために偽りを述べるのか。
Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
8 あなたがたは彼にひいきしようとするのか。神のために争おうとするのか。
Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
9 神があなたがたを調べられるとき、あなたがたは無事だろうか。あなたがたは人を欺くように彼を欺くことができるか。
Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye [so] mock him?
10 あなたがたがもし、ひそかにひいきするならば、彼は必ずあなたがたを責められる。
He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
11 その威厳はあなたがたを恐れさせないであろうか。彼をおそれる恐れがあなたがたに臨まないであろうか。
Shall not his excellence make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
12 あなたがたの格言は灰のことわざだ。あなたがたの盾は土の盾だ。
Your remembrances [are] like to ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
13 黙して、わたしにかかわるな、わたしは話そう。何事でもわたしに来るなら、来るがよい。
Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what [will].
14 わたしはわが肉をわが歯に取り、わが命をわが手のうちに置く。
Why do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in my hand?
15 見よ、彼はわたしを殺すであろう。わたしは絶望だ。しかしなおわたしはわたしの道を彼の前に守り抜こう。
Though he shall slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain my own ways before him.
16 これこそわたしの救となる。神を信じない者は、神の前に出ることができないからだ。
He also [shall be] my salvation: for a hypocrite shall not come before him.
17 あなたがたはよくわたしの言葉を聞き、わたしの述べる所を耳に入れよ。
Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
18 見よ、わたしはすでにわたしの立ち場を言い並べた。わたしは義とされることをみずから知っている。
Behold now, I have ordered [my] cause; I know that I shall be justified.
19 だれかわたしと言い争う事のできる者があろうか。もしあるならば、わたしは黙して死ぬであろう。
Who [is] he [that] will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall expire.
20 ただわたしに二つの事を許してください。そうすれば、わたしはあなたの顔をさけて隠れることはないでしょう。
Only do not two [things] to me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21 あなたの手をわたしから離してください。あなたの恐るべき事をもってわたしを恐れさせないでください。
Withdraw thy hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
22 そしてお呼びください、わたしは答えます。わたしに物を言わせて、あなたご自身、わたしにお答えください。
Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
23 わたしのよこしまと、わたしの罪がどれほどあるか。わたしのとがと罪とをわたしに知らせてください。
How many [are] my iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
24 なにゆえ、あなたはみ顔をかくし、わたしをあなたの敵とされるのか。
Why hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thy enemy?
25 あなたは吹き回される木の葉をおどし、干あがったもみがらを追われるのか。
Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
26 あなたはわたしについて苦き事どもを書きしるし、わたしに若い時の罪を継がせ、
For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
27 わたしの足を足かせにはめ、わたしのすべての道をうかがい、わたしの足の周囲に限りをつけられる。
Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly to all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
28 このような人は腐れた物のように朽ち果て、虫に食われた衣服のようにすたれる。
And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth-eaten.
