エレミヤ書 35
1 ユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムの時、主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。
The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:
2 「レカブびとの家に行って、彼らと語り、彼らを主の宮の一室に連れてきて、酒を飲ませなさい」。
Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and bring them into the house of Jehovah, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
3 そこでわたしはハバジニヤの子エレミヤの子であるヤザニヤと、その兄弟と、そのむすこたち、およびレカブびとの全家を連れ、
Then I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites,
4 これを主の宮にあるハナンの子たちの室に連れてきた。ハナンはイグダリヤの子であって神の人であった。その室は、つかさたちの室の次にあって、門を守るシャルムの子マアセヤの室の上にあった。
and brought them into the house of Jehovah, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door.
5 わたしはレカブびとの前に酒を満たしたつぼと杯を置き、彼らに、「酒を飲みなさい」と言ったが、
And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine and cups, and I said to them, “Drink ye wine.”
6 彼らは答えた、「われわれは酒を飲みません。それは、レカブの子であるわれわれの先祖ヨナダブがわれわれに命じて、『あなたがたとあなたがたの子孫はいつまでも酒を飲んではならない。
But they said, “We will not drink wine; for Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, ye nor your sons, forever;
7 また家を建てず、種をまかず、またぶどう畑を植えてはならない。またこれを所有してはならない。あなたがたは生きながらえる間は幕屋に住んでいなさい。そうするならば、あなたがたはその宿っている地に長く生きることができると言ったからです』。
neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any; but all your days ye shall dwell in tents, that ye may live long in the land wherein ye are strangers.
8 こうしてわれわれは、レカブの子であるわれわれの先祖ヨナダブがすべて命じた言葉に従って、われわれも、妻も、むすこ娘も生きながらえる間、酒を飲まず、
And we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he charged us, to drink no wine all our days, neither we, nor our wives, nor our sons, nor our daughters;
9 住む家を建てず、ぶどう畑も畑も種も持たないで、
nor to build houses for us to dwell in; neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed;
10 幕屋に住み、すべてわれわれの先祖ヨナダブがわれわれに命じたところに従い、そのように行いました。
but we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us.
11 しかしバビロンの王ネブカデレザルがこの地に上ってきた時、われわれは言いました、『さあ、われわれはエルサレムへ行こう。カルデヤびとの軍勢とスリヤびとの軍勢が恐ろしい』と。こうしてわれわれはエルサレムに住んでいるのです」。
But it came to pass when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldaeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we dwell at Jerusalem.”
12 その時、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ、
Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah, saying,
13 「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、行って、ユダの人々とエルサレムに住む者とに告げよ。主は仰せられる、あなたがたはわたしの言葉を聞いて教を受けないのか。
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Go and say to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will ye not receive instruction, to hearken to my words? saith Jehovah.
14 レカブの子ヨナダブがその子孫に酒を飲むなと命じた言葉は守られてきた。彼らは今日に至るまで酒を飲まず、その先祖の命に従ってきた。ところがあなたがたはわたしがしきりに語ったけれども、わたしに聞き従わなかった。
The words of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, in which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, have been performed; for they have drunk no wine to this day, but have obeyed the commandment of their father. I also have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking, but ye have not hearkened to me.
15 わたしはまた、わたしのしもべである預言者たちを、しきりにあなたがたにつかわして言わせた、『あなたがたは今おのおのその悪い道を離れ、その行いを改めなさい。ほかの神々に従い仕えてはならない。そうすれば、あなたがたはわたしがあなたがたと、あなたがたの先祖に与えたこの地に住むことができる』と。しかしあなたがたは耳を傾けず、わたしに聞かなかった。
And I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every one from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers; but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened to me.
16 レカブの子ヨナダブの子孫は、その先祖が彼らに命じた命令を守っているのである。しかしこの民はわたしに従わなかった。
Since then the sons of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, and this people have not hearkened to me;
17 それゆえ万軍の神、主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはユダとエルサレムに住む者とに、わたしが彼らの上に宣告した災を下す。わたしが彼らに語っても聞かず、彼らを呼んでも答えなかったからである」。
therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, all the evil which I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken to them, and they have not hearkened, and I have called to them, and they have not answered.
18 ところでエレミヤはレカブびとの家の人々に言った、「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう仰せられる、あなたがたは先祖ヨナダブの命に従い、そのすべての戒めを守り、彼があなたがたに命じた事を行った。
And to the house of the Rechabites Jeremiah said: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab, your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all which he commanded you,
19 それゆえ、万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、レカブの子ヨナダブには、わたしの前に立つ人がいつまでも欠けることはない」。
therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: There shall not fail in the land of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, men to stand before me forever.
