イザヤ書 55
1 「さあ、かわいている者はみな水にきたれ。金のない者もきたれ。来て買い求めて食べよ。あなたがたは来て、金を出さずに、ただでぶどう酒と乳とを買い求めよ。
Ho, every one of ye that thirsteth, come ye to the water, and he too that hath no money: come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy without money and without price wine and milk.
2 なぜ、あなたがたは、かてにもならぬもののために金を費し、飽きることもできぬもののために労するのか。わたしによく聞き従え。そうすれば、良い物を食べることができ、最も豊かな食物で、自分を楽しませることができる。
Wherefore will ye spend money for what is not bread? and your labor for what satisfieth not? hearken then unto me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 耳を傾け、わたしにきて聞け。そうすれば、あなたがたは生きることができる。わたしは、あなたがたと、とこしえの契約を立てて、ダビデに約束した変らない確かな恵みを与える。
Incline your ear, and come unto me, hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the promised mercies of David, which are sure.
4 見よ、わたしは彼を立てて、もろもろの民への証人とし、また、もろもろの民の君とし、命令する者とした。
Behold, for a lawgiver unto the people have I appointed him, a prince and commander to the people.
5 見よ、あなたは知らない国民を招く、あなたを知らない国民はあなたのもとに走ってくる。これはあなたの神、主、イスラエルの聖者のゆえであり、主があなたに光栄を与えられたからである。
Behold, a nation thou knowest not shalt thou call, and a nation that knew thee not shall run unto thee; for the sake of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.
6 あなたがたは主にお会いすることのできるうちに、主を尋ねよ。近くおられるうちに呼び求めよ。
Seek ye the Lord, while he may be found, call ye on him, while he is near.
7 悪しき者はその道を捨て、正らぬ人はその思いを捨てて、主に帰れ。そうすれば、主は彼にあわれみを施される。われわれの神に帰れ、主は豊かにゆるしを与えられる。
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of unrighteousness his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and unto our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 わが思いは、あなたがたの思いとは異なり、わが道は、あなたがたの道とは異なっていると主は言われる。
For not my thoughts are your thoughts, and not your ways are my ways, saith the Lord.
9 天が地よりも高いように、わが道は、あなたがたの道よりも高く、わが思いは、あなたがたの思いよりも高い。
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.
10 天から雨が降り、雪が落ちてまた帰らず、地を潤して物を生えさせ、芽を出させて、種まく者に種を与え、食べる者にかてを与える。
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither, but water the earth, and render it fruitful, and cause it to bring forth plants; and give seed to the sower and bread to him that eateth:
11 このように、わが口から出る言葉も、むなしくわたしに帰らない。わたしの喜ぶところのことをなし、わたしが命じ送った事を果す。
So shall ever be my word which goeth forth from my mouth, it shall not return unto me without effect; but it accomplisheth what I desire, and it prospereth in that whereto I have sent it.
12 あなたがたは喜びをもって出てきて、安らかに導かれて行く。山と丘とはあなたの前に声を放って喜び歌い、野にある木はみな手を打つ。
For in joy shall ye go out, and in peace shall ye be brought home: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 いとすぎは、いばらに代って生え、ミルトスの木は、おどろに代って生える。これは主の記念となり、また、とこしえのしるしとなって、絶えることはない」。
Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir-tree, and instead of the nettle shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be unto the Lord for a name, for a sign of everlasting that shall not be cut off.
