イザヤ書 51
1 「義を追い求め、主を尋ね求める者よ、わたしに聞け。あなたがたの切り出された岩と、あなたがたの掘り出された穴とを思いみよ。
Hearken to me, ye that pursue righteousness. Ye that seek Jehovah! Look to the rock whence ye were hewn, To the pit-quarry whence ye were digged!
2 あなたがたの父アブラハムと、あなたがたを産んだサラとを思いみよ。わたしは彼をただひとりであったときに召し、彼を祝福して、その子孫を増し加えた。
Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah that bore you! For I called him when only one, And blessed him, and multiplied him.
3 主はシオンを慰め、またそのすべて荒れた所を慰めて、その荒野をエデンのように、そのさばくを主の園のようにされる。こうして、その中に喜びと楽しみとがあり、感謝と歌の声とがある。
Thus will Jehovah have pity upon Zion; He will have pity upon all her desolations. He will make her wilderness like Eden, Her desert like the garden of Jehovah. Joy and gladness shall be found therein; Thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.
4 わが民よ、わたしに聞け、わが国びとよ、わたしに耳を傾けよ。律法はわたしから出、わが道はもろもろの民の光となる。
Hearken to me, O my people! And give ear to me, O my nation! For a law shall proceed from me, And I will establish my statutes for the light of the nations.
5 わが義はすみやかに近づき、わが救は出て行った。わが腕はもろもろの民を治める。海沿いの国々はわたしを待ち望み、わが腕に寄り頼む。
My help is near; my salvation goeth forth; My arm shall judge the nations; Distant lands shall wait for me, And in my arm shall they trust.
6 目をあげて天を見、また下なる地を見よ。天は煙のように消え、地は衣のようにふるび、その中に住む者は、ぶよのように死ぬ。しかし、わが救はとこしえにながらえ、わが義はくじけることがない。
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look down upon the earth beneath! For the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, And the earth shall decay like a garment, And its inhabitants shall perish like flies. But my salvation shall endure forever, And my goodness shall not decay.
7 義を知る者よ、心のうちにわが律法をたもつ者よ、わたしに聞け。人のそしりを恐れてはならない、彼らのののしりに驚いてはならない。
Hearken to me, ye that know righteousness, The people in whose heart is my law! Fear ye not the reproach of men, Nor be disheartened by their revilings!
8 彼らは衣のように、しみに食われ、羊の毛のように虫に食われるからだ。しかし、わが義はとこしえにながらえ、わが救はよろず代に及ぶ」。
For the moth shall consume them like a garment, And the worm shall eat them like wool. But my goodness shall endure forever, And my salvation from generation to generation.
9 主のかいなよ、さめよ、さめよ、力を着よ。さめて、いにしえの日、昔の代にあったようになれ。ラハブを切り殺し、龍を刺し貫いたのは、あなたではなかったか。
Awake! awake! clothe thyself with strength, O arm of Jehovah! Awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old!
10 海をかわかし、大いなる淵の水をかわかし、また海の深き所を、あがなわれた者の過ぎる道とされたのは、あなたではなかったか。
Art thou not the same that smote Rahab, And wounded the dragon? Art thou not the same that dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep, —That made the depths of the sea a path for the redeemed to pass through?
11 主にあがなわれた者は、歌うたいつつ、シオンに帰ってきて、そのこうべに、とこしえの喜びをいただき、彼らは喜びと楽しみとを得、悲しみと嘆きとは逃げ去る。
Thus shall the ransomed of Jehovah return; They shall come to Zion with singing; Everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; They shall obtain gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
12 「わたしこそあなたを慰める者だ。あなたは何者なれば、死ぬべき人を恐れ、草のようになるべき人の子を恐れるのか。
I, even I, am he that hath pity upon you; Who art thou, that thou art afraid of man, that shall die, Of the son of man, that shall perish like grass,
13 天をのべ、地の基をすえられたあなたの造り主、主を忘れて、なぜ、しえたげる者が滅ぼそうと備えをするとき、その憤りのゆえに常にひねもす恐れるのか。しえたげる者の憤りはどこにあるか。
And forgettest Jehovah thy maker, That stretched out the heavens, And founded the earth, And fearest continually every day, On account of the fury of the oppressor, As if he were taking aim to destroy thee? Where now is the fury of the oppressor?
14 身をかがめている捕われ人は、すみやかに解かれて、死ぬことなく、穴にくだることなく、その食物はつきることがない。
Soon shall the enchained be loosed; He shall not die in the pit, Nor shall his bread fail.
15 わたしは海をふるわせ、その波をなりどよめかすあなたの神、主である。その名を万軍の主という。
For I am Jehovah thy God, That rebuketh the sea when his waves roar; Jehovah of hosts is his name.
16 わたしはわが言葉をあなたの口におき、わが手の陰にあなたを隠した。こうして、わたしは天をのべ、地の基をすえ、シオンにむかって、あなたはわが民であると言う」。
I have put my words into thy mouth, And have covered thee with the shadow of my hand, To establish the heavens, and to found the earth. And to say to Zion, “Thou art my people!”
17 エルサレムよ、起きよ、起きよ、立て。あなたはさきに主の手から憤りの杯をうけて飲み、よろめかす大杯を、滓までも飲みほした。
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem! Thou that hast drunk from the hand of Jehovah the cup of his fury, Thou that hast drunk to the dregs the cup of giddiness!
18 その産んだもろもろの子のなかに、自分を導く者なく、その育てたもろもろの子のなかに、自分の手をとる者がない。
There is not one to lead her, of all the sons which she hath brought forth, Nor is there one to take her by the hand, of all the sons which she hath nurtured.
19 これら二つの事があなたに臨んだだれがあなたと共に嘆くだろうか荒廃と滅亡、ききんとつるぎ。だれがあなたを慰めるだろうか。
These two things have come upon thee, And who bemoaneth thee? Desolation and destruction, and famine and the sword; How shall I comfort thee?
20 あなたの子らは息絶えだえになり、網にかかった、かもしかのように、すべてのちまたのすみに横たわり、主の憤りと、あなたの神の責めとは、彼らに満ちている。
Thy sons have fainted; they lie at the head of all the streets, Like a deer in the net; They are full of the wrath of Jehovah, Of the rebuke of thy God.
21 それゆえ、苦しめる者、酒にではなく酔っている者よ、これを聞け。
Therefore, hear this, thou afflicted, Thou drunken, and not with wine!
22 あなたの主、おのが民の訴えを弁護されるあなたの神、主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしはよろめかす杯をあなたの手から取り除き、わが憤りの大杯を取り除いた。あなたは再びこれを飲むことはない。
Thus saith thy Lord, Jehovah, And thy God, that defendeth the cause of his people. Behold, I will take from thy hand the cup of giddiness, The cup of my wrath; Thou shalt drink no more of it.
23 わたしはこれをあなたを悩ます者の手におく。彼らはさきにあなたにむかって言った、『身をかがめよ、われわれは越えていこう』と。そしてあなたはその背を地のようにし、ちまたのようにして、彼らの越えていくにまかせた」。
And I will put it into the hand of them that have afflicted thee; That have said to thee, “Bow down, that we may pass over!” And thou madest thy body as the ground, And as the street, to them that passed over.
