イザヤ書 13
1 アモツの子イザヤに示されたバビロンについての託宣。
The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
2 あなたがたは木のない山に旗を立て、声をあげて彼らを招き、手を振って彼らを貴族の門に、はいらせよ。
Set ye up an ensign upon the bare mountain, lift up the voice unto them, wave the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
3 わたしはわが怒りのさばきを行うために聖別した者どもに命じ、わが勇士、わが勝ち誇る者どもを招いた。
I have commanded my consecrated ones, yea, I have called my mighty men for mine anger, even my proudly exulting ones.
4 聞け、多くの民のような騒ぎ声が山々に聞える。聞け、もろもろの国々、寄りつどえるもろもろの国民のざわめく声が聞える。これは万軍の主が戦いのために軍勢を集められるのだ。
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people! the noise of a tumult of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! the LORD of hosts mustereth the host for the battle.
5 彼らは遠い国から、天の果から来る。これは、主とその憤りの器で、全地を滅ぼすために来るのだ。
They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
6 あなたがたは泣き叫べ。主の日が近づき、滅びが全能者から来るからだ。
Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; as destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
7 それゆえ、すべての手は弱り、すべての人の心は溶け去る。
Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt:
8 彼らは恐れおののき、苦しみと悩みに捕えられ、子を産まんとする女のようにもだえ苦しみ、互に驚き、顔を見あわせ、その顔は炎のようになる。
and they shall be dismayed; pangs and sorrows shall take hold [of them]; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces [shall be] faces of flame.
9 見よ、主の日が来る。残忍で、憤りと激しい怒りとをもってこの地を荒し、その中から罪びとを断ち滅ぼすために来る。
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 天の星とその星座とはその光を放たず、太陽は出ても暗く、月はその光を輝かさない。
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
11 わたしはその悪のために世を罰し、その不義のために悪い者を罰し、高ぶる者の誇をとどめ、あらぶる者の高慢を低くする。
And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 わたしは人を精金よりも、オフルのこがねよりも少なくする。
I will make a man more rare than fine gold, even a man than the pure gold of Ophir.
13 それゆえ、万軍の主の憤りにより、その激しい怒りの日に、天は震い、地は揺り動いて、その所をはなれる。
Therefore I will make the heavens to tremble, and the earth shall be shaken out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
14 彼らは追われた、かもしかのように、あるいは集める者のない羊のようになって、おのおの自分の民に帰り、自分の国に逃げて行く。
And it shall come to pass, that as the chased roe, and as sheep that no man gathereth, they shall turn every man to his own people, and shall flee every man to his own land.
15 すべて見いだされる者は刺され、すべて捕えられる者はつるぎによって倒され、
Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is taken shall fall by the sword.
16 彼らのみどりごはその目の前で投げ砕かれ、その家はかすめ奪われ、その妻は汚される。
Their infants also shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
17 見よ、わたしは、しろがねをも顧みず、こがねをも喜ばないメデアびとを起して、彼らにむかわせる。
Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
18 彼らの弓は若い者を射殺し、腹の実をあわれむことなく、幼な子を見て、惜しむことがない。
And [their] bows shall dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.
19 国々の誉であり、カルデヤびとの誇である麗しいバビロンは、神に滅ぼされたソドム、ゴモラのようになる。
And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 ここにはながく住む者が絶え、世々にいたるまで住みつく者がなく、アラビヤびともそこに天幕を張らず、羊飼もそこに群れを伏させることがない。
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall shepherds make their flocks to lie down there.
21 ただ、野の獣がそこに伏し、ほえる獣がその家に満ち、だちょうがそこに住み、鬼神がそこに踊る。
But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and ostriches shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
22 ハイエナはその城の中で鳴き、山犬は楽しい宮殿でほえる。その時の来るのは近い、その日は延びることがない。
And wolves shall cry in their castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
