イザヤ書 11
1 エッサイの株から一つの芽が出、その根から一つの若枝が生えて実を結び、
A shoot will sprout from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.
2 その上に主の霊がとどまる。これは知恵と悟りの霊、深慮と才能の霊、主を知る知識と主を恐れる霊である。
The Spirit of Yahweh will rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of instruction and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh.
3 彼は主を恐れることを楽しみとし、その目の見るところによって、さばきをなさず、その耳の聞くところによって、定めをなさず、
His delight will be the fear of the Lord; he will not judge by what his eyes see, nor decide by what his ears hear.
4 正義をもって貧しい者をさばき、公平をもって国のうちの柔和な者のために定めをなし、その口のむちをもって国を撃ち、そのくちびるの息をもって悪しき者を殺す。
Instead, he will judge the poor with righteousness and decide fairly for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.
5 正義はその腰の帯となり、忠信はその身の帯となる。
Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his hips.
6 おおかみは小羊と共にやどり、ひょうは子やぎと共に伏し、子牛、若じし、肥えたる家畜は共にいて、小さいわらべに導かれ、
The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, the calf, the young lion and the fattened calf, together. A little child will lead them.
7 雌牛と熊とは食い物を共にし、牛の子と熊の子と共に伏し、ししは牛のようにわらを食い、
The cow and the bear will graze together, and their young will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the ox.
8 乳のみ子は毒蛇のほらに戯れ、乳離れの子は手をまむしの穴に入れる。
A baby will play over the hole of the snake, and the weaned child will put his hand on the serpent's den.
9 彼らはわが聖なる山のどこにおいても、そこなうことなく、やぶることがない。水が海をおおっているように、主を知る知識が地に満ちるからである。
They will not hurt nor destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea.
10 その日、エッサイの根が立って、もろもろの民の旗となり、もろもろの国びとはこれに尋ね求め、その置かれる所に栄光がある。
On that day, the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples. The nations will seek him out, and his resting place will be glorious.
11 その日、主は再び手を伸べて、その民の残れる者をアッスリヤ、エジプト、パテロス、エチオピヤ、エラム、シナル、ハマテおよび海沿いの国々からあがなわれる。
On that day, the Lord will again extend his hand to recover the remnant of his people who remain in Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the islands of the sea.
12 主は国々のために旗をあげて、イスラエルの追いやられた者を集め、ユダの散らされた者を地の四方から集められる。
He will set up a banner for the nations and will gather the outcasts of Israel and the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13 エフライムのねたみはうせ、ユダを悩ます者は断たれ、エフライムはユダをねたまず、ユダはエフライムを悩ますことはない。
He will turn aside the envy of Ephraim, and hostilities of Judah will be cut off. Ephraim will not envy Judah, and Judah will no longer be hostile to Ephraim.
14 しかし彼らは西の方ペリシテびとの肩に襲いかかり、相共に東の民をかすめ、その手をエドムおよびモアブに伸べ、アンモンの人々をおのれに従わせる。
Instead they will swoop down on the Philistine hills on the west, and together they will plunder the people of the east. They will attack Edom and Moab, and the people of Ammon will obey them.
15 主はエジプトの海の舌をからし、川の上に手を振って熱い風を吹かせ、その川を打って七つの川となし、くつをぬらさないで渡らせられる。
Yahweh will completely destroy the gulf of the Sea of Egypt. With his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the Euphrates River and will divide it into seven streams, so it can be crossed over in sandals.
16 その民の残れる者のためにアッスリヤからの大路があり、昔イスラエルがエジプトの国から上ってきた時にあったようになる。
There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that return from Assyria, as there was for Israel in their coming up from the land of Egypt.
