イザヤ書 10
1 わざわいなるかな、不義の判決を下す者、暴虐の宣告を書きしるす者。
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write iniquity;
2 彼らは乏しい者の訴えを引き受けず、わが民のうちの貧しい者の権利をはぎ、寡婦の資産を奪い、みなしごのものをかすめる。
To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right of the poor of My people, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
3 あなたがたは刑罰の日がきたなら、何をしようとするのか。大風が遠くから来るとき、何をしようとするのか。あなたがたはのがれていって、だれに助けを求めようとするのか。また、どこにあなたがたの富を残そうとするのか。
And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the ruin which shall come from far? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?
4 ただ捕われた者の中にかがみ、殺された者の中に伏し倒れるのみだ。それでも主の怒りはやまず、なおも、そのみ手を伸ばされる。
They can do nought except crouch under the captives, and fall under the slain. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
5 ああ、アッスリヤはわが怒りのつえ、わが憤りのむちだ。
O Asshur, the rod of Mine anger, in whose hand as a staff is Mine indignation!
6 わたしは彼をつかわして不信の国を攻め、彼に命じてわが怒りの民を攻め、かすめ奪わせ、彼らをちまたの泥のように踏みにじらせる。
I do send him against an ungodly nation, and against the people of My wrath do I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 しかし彼はそのようには思わず、その心もそのようには考えず、かえってその心は滅ぼすことを思い、あまたの国々を倒そうとする。
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few.
8 彼は言う、「わが諸侯はみな王ではないか。
For he saith: 'Are not my princes all of them kings?
9 カルノはカルケミシのようではないか。ハマテはアルパデのようではないか。サマリヤはダマスコのようではないか。
Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?
10 わが手は偶像に仕える国々に伸びた。その彫った像はエルサレムおよびサマリヤのものにまさっていた。
As my hand hath reached the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images did exceed them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
11 わたしはサマリヤとその偶像に行ったように、エルサレムとその偶像に行わぬであろうか」。
Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?'
12 主がシオンの山とエルサレムとになそうとすることを、ことごとくなし遂げられた時、主はアッスリヤ王の無礼な言葉と、その高ぶりとを罰せられる。
Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed His whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.
13 彼は言う、「わが手の力により、またわが知恵によって、わたしはこれをなした。わたしは賢いからである。わたしはもろもろの民の境を除き、その財宝を奪った。またわたしは雄牛のように、位に座する者を引きおろした。
For he hath said: by the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I am prudent; in that I have removed the bounds of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and have brought down as one mighty the inhabitants;
14 わが手は巣を取るように、もろもろの民の富を得た。またわたしは人々が捨てられた卵を集めるように、全地を取り集めた。あるいは翼を動かし、あるいは口を開き、あるいはぺちゃくちゃ言う者もなかった」。
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the peoples; and as one gathereth eggs that are forsaken, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or that opened the mouth, or chirped.
15 おのは、それを用いて切る者にむかって、自分を誇ることができようか。のこぎりは、それを動かす者にむかって、みずから高ぶることができようか。これはあたかも、むちが自分をあげる者を動かし、つえが木でない者をあげようとするのに等しい。
Should the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? Should the saw magnify itself against him that moveth it? as if a rod should move them that lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up him that is not wood.
16 それゆえ、主、万軍の主は、その肥えた勇士の中に病気を送って衰えさせ、その栄光の下に火の燃えるような炎を燃やされる。
Therefore will the Lord, the LORD of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory there shall be kindled a burning like the burning of fire.
17 イスラエルの光は火となり、その聖者は炎となり、そのいばらと、おどろとを一日のうちに焼き滅ぼす。
And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.
18 また、その林と土肥えた田畑の栄えを、魂も、からだも二つながら滅ぼし、病める者のやせ衰える時のようにされる。
And the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field, he will consume both soul and body; and it shall be as when a sick man wasteth away.
19 その林の木の残りのものはわずかであって、わらべもそれを書きとめることができる。
And the remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them down.
20 その日にはイスラエルの残りの者と、ヤコブの家の生き残った者とは、もはや自分たちを撃った者にたよらず、真心をもってイスラエルの聖者、主にたより、
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and they that are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 残りの者、すなわちヤコブの残りの者は大能の神に帰る。
A remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto God the Mighty.
22 あなたの民イスラエルは海の砂のようであっても、そのうちの残りの者だけが帰って来る。滅びはすでに定まり、義であふれている。
For though thy people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them shall return; an extermination is determined, overflowing with righteousness.
23 主、万軍の主は定められた滅びを全地に行われる。
For an extermination wholly determined shall the Lord, the GOD of hosts, make in the midst of all the earth.
24 それゆえ、主、万軍の主はこう言われる、「シオンに住むわが民よ、アッスリヤびとが、エジプトびとがしたように、むちをもってあなたを打ち、つえをあげてあなたをせめても、彼らを恐れてはならない。
Therefore thus saith the Lord, the GOD of hosts: O My people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of Asshur, though he smite thee with the rod, and lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
25 ただしばらくして、わが憤りはやみ、わが怒りは彼らを滅ぼすからである。
For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall be accomplished, and Mine anger shall be to their destruction.
26 万軍の主は、むかしミデアンびとをオレブの岩で撃たれた時のように、彼らにむかって、むちをふるわれる。またそのつえを海の上にのばし、エジプトでなされたように、それをあげられる。
And the LORD of hosts shall stir up against him a scourge, as in the slaughter of Midian at the Rock of Oreb; and as His rod was over the sea, so shall He lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
27 その日には、彼の重荷はあなたの肩からおり、彼のくびきはあなたの首から離れる」。彼はリンモンから上り、
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall depart from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness.
28 アイアテにきたり、ミグロンを過ぎ、ミクマシでその行李をとどめ、
He is come to Aiath, he is passed through Migron; at Michmas he layeth up his baggage;
29 渡しを過ぎて、ゲバに宿る。ラマはおののき、サウルのギベアは逃げ去った。
They are gone over the pass; they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah trembleth; Gibeath-shaul is fled.
30 ガリムの娘よ、声をあげて叫べ。ライシよ、耳を傾けよ。アナトテよ、彼に答えよ。
Cry thou with a shrill voice, O daughter of Gallim! Hearken, O Laish! O thou poor Anathoth!
31 マデメナは逃げ去り、ゲビムの民は隠れ場を求めた。
Madmenah is in mad flight; the inhabitants of Gebim flee to cover.
32 この日彼はノブに立ちとどまり、シオンの娘の山、エルサレムの丘にむかって、その手を振る。
This very day shall he halt at Nob, shaking his hand at the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
33 見よ、主、万軍の主は、恐ろしい力をもって枝を切りおろされる。たけの高いものも切り落され、そびえ立つものは低くされる。
Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the boughs with terror; and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the lofty shall be laid low.
34 主はおのをもって茂りあう林を切られる。みごとな木の茂るレバノンも倒される。
And He shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
