ホセア書 8
1 ラッパをあなたの口にあてよ、はげたかは主の家に臨む。彼らがわたしの契約を破り、わたしの律法を犯したからだ。
[SET] the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle [he cometh] against the house of the LORD: because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
2 彼らはわたしに向かって叫ぶ、「わが神よ、われわれイスラエルはあなたを知る」と。
They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee.
3 イスラエルは善はしりぞけた。敵はこれを追うであろう。
Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
4 彼らは王を立てた、しかし、わたしによって立てたのではない。彼らは君を立てた、しかし、わたしはこれを知らない。彼らは銀と金をもって、自分たちの滅びのために偶像を造った。
They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
5 サマリヤよ、わたしはあなたの子牛を忌みきらう。わたしの怒りは彼らに向かって燃える。彼らはいつになればイスラエルで罪なき者となるであろうか。
He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?
6 これは工人の作ったもので、神ではない。サマリヤの子牛は砕けて粉となる。
For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God: yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
7 彼らは風をまいて、つむじ風を刈り取る。立っている穀物は穂を持たず、また実らない。たとい実っても、他国人がこれを食い尽す。
For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing corn; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.
8 イスラエルはのまれた。彼らは諸国民の間にあって、すでに無用な器のようになった。
Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
9 彼らはひとりさまよう野のろばのように、アッスリヤにのぼって行った。エフライムは物を贈って恋人を得た。
For they are gone up to Assyria, [like] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
10 たとい彼らが国々に物を贈って同盟者を得ても、わたしはまもなく彼らを集める。彼らはしばらくにして、王や君たちに油をそそぐことをやめる。
Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be minished by reason of the burden of the king of princes.
11 エフライムは多くの祭壇を造って罪を犯したゆえ、これは彼には罪を犯すための祭壇となった。
Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars have been unto him to sin.
12 わたしは彼のために、あまたの律法を書きしるしたが、これはかえって怪しい物のように思われた。
Though I write for him my law in ten thousand [precepts], they are counted as a strange thing.
13 彼らは犠牲を好み、肉をささげてこれを食べる。しかし主はこれを喜ばれない。今、彼らの不義を覚え、彼らの罪を罰せられる。彼らはエジプトに帰る。
As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.
14 イスラエルは自分の造り主を忘れて、もろもろの宮殿を建てた。ユダは堅固な町々を多く増し加えた。しかしわたしは火をその町々に送って、もろもろの城を焼き滅ぼす。
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.
