ホセア書 10
1 イスラエルは実を結ぶ茂ったぶどうの木である。その実を多く結ぶにしたがって、祭壇を増し、その地の豊かなるにしたがって、柱の像を麗しくした。
Israel was a luxuriant vine, which put forth fruit freely: as his fruit increased, he increased his altars; the more goodly his land was, the more goodly were his pillars.
2 彼らの心は偽りである。今、彼らはその罪を負わなければならない。主はその祭壇をこわし、その柱の像を砕かれる。
Their heart is divided; now shall they bear their guilt; He will break down their altars, He will spoil their pillars.
3 今、彼らは言う、「われわれは主を恐れないので、われわれには王がない。王はわれわれのために何をなしえようか」と。
Surely now shall they say: 'We have no king; for we feared not the LORD; and the king, what can he do for us?'
4 彼らはむなしき言葉をいだし、偽りの誓いをもって契約を結ぶ。それゆえ、さばきは畑のうねの毒草のように現れる。
They speak words, they swear falsely, they make covenants; thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
5 サマリヤの住民は、ベテアベンの子牛のためにおののき、その民はこれがために嘆き、その偶像に仕える祭司たちは、その栄光のうせたるがために泣き悲しむ。
The inhabitants of Samaria shall be in dread for the calves of Beth-aven; for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof shall tremble for it, for its glory, because it is departed from it.
6 その子牛はアッスリヤに携えられ、礼物として大王にささげられ、エフライムは恥をうけ、イスラエルはおのれの偶像を恥じる。
It also shall be carried unto Assyria, for a present to King Contentious; Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
7 サマリヤの王は、水のおもての木切れのように滅ぼされる。
As for Samaria, her king is cut off, as foam upon the water.
8 イスラエルの罪であるアベンの高き所も滅び、いばらとあざみがその祭壇の上にはえ茂る。その時彼らは山に向かって、「われわれをおおえ」と言い、丘に向かって「われわれの上に倒れよ」と言う。
The high places also of Aven shall be destroyed, even the sin of Israel. The thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains: 'Cover us', and to the hills: 'Fall on us.'
9 イスラエルよ、あなたはギベアの日からこのかた罪を犯した。彼らはその所に立っていた。戦いはギベアにおる彼らに及ばないであろうか。
From the days of Gibeah thou hast sinned, O Israel; there they stood; no battle was to overtake them in Gibeah, nor the children of arrogancy.
10 わたしは来てよこしまな民を攻め、これを懲らしめる。彼らがその二つの罪のために懲しめられるとき、もろもろの民は集まって彼らを攻める。
When it is My desire, I will chastise them; and the peoples shall be gathered against them, when they are yoked to their two rings.
11 エフライムはならされた若い雌牛であって、穀物を踏むことを好む。わたしはその麗しい首を惜しんだ。しかし、わたしはエフライムにくびきをかける。ユダは耕し、ヤコブは自分のために、まぐわをひかねばならない。
And Ephraim is a heifer well broken, that loveth to thresh, and I have passed over upon her fair neck; I will make Ephraim to ride, Judah shall plow, Jacob shall break his clods.
12 あなたがたは自分のために正義をまき、いつくしみの実を刈り取り、あなたがたの新田を耕せ。今は主を求むべき時である。主は来て救いを雨のように、あなたがたに降りそそがれる。
Sow to yourselves according to righteousness, reap according to mercy, break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, till He come and cause righteousness to rain upon you.
13 あなたがたは悪を耕し、不義を刈りおさめ、偽りの実を食べた。これはあなたがたが自分の戦車を頼み、勇士の多いことを頼んだためである。
Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity, ye have eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
14 それゆえ、あなたがたの民の中にいくさの騒ぎが起り、シャルマンが戦いの日にベテ・アルベルを打ち破ったように、あなたがたの城はことごとく打ち破られる。母らはその子らと共に打ち砕かれた。
Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy hosts, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle; the mother was dashed in pieces with her children.
15 イスラエルの家よ、あなたがたの大いなる悪のゆえに、このように、あなたがたにも行われ、イスラエルの王は、あらしの中に全く滅ぼされる。
So hath Beth-el done unto you because of your great wickedness; at daybreak is the king of Israel utterly cut off.
