創世記 35
1 ときに神はヤコブに言われた、「あなたは立ってベテルに上り、そこに住んで、あなたがさきに兄エサウの顔を避けてのがれる時、あなたに現れた神に祭壇を造りなさい」。
And God says to Jacob, “Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared to you in your fleeing from the face of your brother Esau.”
2 ヤコブは、その家族および共にいるすべての者に言った、「あなたがたのうちにある異なる神々を捨て、身を清めて着物を着替えなさい。
And Jacob says to his household, and to all who [are] with him, “Turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;
3 われわれは立ってベテルに上り、その所でわたしの苦難の日にわたしにこたえ、かつわたしの行く道で共におられた神に祭壇を造ろう」。
and we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my tribulation, and is with me in the way that I have gone.”
4 そこで彼らは持っている異なる神々と、耳につけている耳輪をことごとくヤコブに与えたので、ヤコブはこれをシケムのほとりにあるテレビンの木の下に埋めた。
And they give to Jacob all the gods of the stranger that [are] in their hand, and the rings that [are] in their ears, and Jacob hides them under the oak which [is] by Shechem;
5 そして彼らは、いで立ったが、大いなる恐れが周囲の町々に起ったので、ヤコブの子らのあとを追う者はなかった。
and they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which [are] around them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.
6 こうしてヤコブは共にいたすべての人々と一緒にカナンの地にあるルズ、すなわちベテルにきた。
And Jacob comes to Luz which [is] in the land of Canaan (it [is] Bethel), he and all the people who [are] with him,
7 彼はそこに祭壇を築き、その所をエル・ベテルと名づけた。彼が兄の顔を避けてのがれる時、神がそこで彼に現れたからである。
and he builds there an altar, and proclaims at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed to him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.
8 時にリベカのうばデボラが死んで、ベテルのしもの、かしの木の下に葬られた。これによってその木の名をアロン・バクテと呼ばれた。
And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, dies, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calls its name “Oak of Weeping.”
9 さてヤコブがパダンアラムから帰ってきた時、神は再び彼に現れて彼を祝福された。
And God appears to Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesses him;
10 神は彼に言われた、「あなたの名はヤコブである。しかしあなたの名をもはやヤコブと呼んではならない。あなたの名をイスラエルとしなさい」。こうして彼をイスラエルと名づけられた。
and God says to him, “Your name [is] Jacob: your name is no longer called Jacob, but Israel is your name”; and He calls his name Israel.
11 神はまた彼に言われた、「わたしは全能の神である。あなたは生めよ、またふえよ。一つの国民、また多くの国民があなたから出て、王たちがあなたの身から出るであろう。
And God says to him, “I [am] God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from you, and kings from your loins go out;
12 わたしはアブラハムとイサクとに与えた地を、あなたに与えよう。またあなたの後の子孫にその地を与えよう」。
and the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac—to you I give it, indeed to your seed after you I give the land.”
13 神は彼と語っておられたその場所から彼を離れてのぼられた。
And God goes up from him, in the place where He has spoken with him.
14 そこでヤコブは神が自分と語られたその場所に、一本の石の柱を立て、その上に灌祭をささげ、また油を注いだ。
And Jacob sets up a standing pillar in the place where He has spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he pours on it an oblation, and he pours on it oil;
15 そしてヤコブは神が自分と語られたその場所をベテルと名づけた。
and Jacob calls the name of the place where God spoke with him Bethel.
16 こうして彼らはベテルを立ったが、エフラタに行き着くまでに、なお隔たりのある所でラケルは産気づき、その産は重かった。
And they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a distance of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel bears, and is sharply pained in her bearing;
17 その難産に当って、産婆は彼女に言った、「心配することはありません。今度も男の子です」。
and it comes to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife says to her, “Do not fear, for this also [is] a son for you.”
18 彼女は死にのぞみ、魂の去ろうとする時、子の名をベノニと呼んだ。しかし、父はこれをベニヤミンと名づけた。
And it comes to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calls his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;
19 ラケルは死んでエフラタ、すなわちベツレヘムの道に葬られた。
and Rachel dies, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which [is] Beth-Lehem,
20 ヤコブはその墓に柱を立てた。これはラケルの墓の柱であって、今日に至っている。
and Jacob sets up a standing pillar over her grave; which [is] the standing pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.
21 イスラエルはまた、いで立ってミグダル・エダルの向こうに天幕を張った。
And Israel journeys, and stretches out his tent beyond the Tower of Edar;
22 イスラエルがその地に住んでいた時、ルベンは父のそばめビルハのところへ行って、これと寝た。イスラエルはこれを聞いた。さてヤコブの子らは十二人であった。
and it comes to pass in Israel’s dwelling in that land, that Reuben goes, and lies with his father’s concubine Bilhah; and Israel hears.
23 すなわちレアの子らはヤコブの長子ルベンとシメオン、レビ、ユダ、イッサカル、ゼブルン。
And the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob’s firstborn Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
24 ラケルの子らはヨセフとベニヤミン。
Sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
25 ラケルのつかえめビルハの子らはダンとナフタリ。
And sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant: Dan and Naphtali.
26 レアのつかえめジルパの子らはガドとアセル。これらはヤコブの子らであって、パダンアラムで彼に生れた者である。
And sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant: Gad and Asher. These [are] sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.
27 ヤコブはキリアテ・アルバ、すなわちヘブロンのマムレにいる父イサクのもとへ行った。ここはアブラハムとイサクとが寄留した所である。
And Jacob comes to his father Isaac, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which [is] Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.
28 イサクの年は百八十歳であった。
And the days of Isaac are one hundred and eighty years,
29 イサクは年老い、日満ちて息絶え、死んで、その民に加えられた。その子エサウとヤコブとは、これを葬った。
and Isaac expires, and dies, and is gathered to his people, aged and satisfied with days; and his sons Esau and Jacob bury him.
