出エジプト記 16
1 イスラエルの人々の全会衆はエリムを出発し、エジプトの地を出て二か月目の十五日に、エリムとシナイとの間にあるシンの荒野にきたが、
They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
2 その荒野でイスラエルの人々の全会衆は、モーセとアロンにつぶやいた。
The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;
3 イスラエルの人々は彼らに言った、「われわれはエジプトの地で、肉のなべのかたわらに座し、飽きるほどパンを食べていた時に、主の手にかかって死んでいたら良かった。あなたがたは、われわれをこの荒野に導き出して、全会衆を餓死させようとしている」。
and the children of Israel said to them, "We wish that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger."
4 そのとき主はモーセに言われた、「見よ、わたしはあなたがたのために、天からパンを降らせよう。民は出て日々の分を日ごとに集めなければならない。こうして彼らがわたしの律法に従うかどうかを試みよう。
Then said Jehovah to Moses, "Look, I will rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.
5 六日目には、彼らが取り入れたものを調理すると、それは日ごとに集めるものの二倍あるであろう」。
It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily."
6 モーセとアロンは、イスラエルのすべての人々に言った、「夕暮には、あなたがたは、エジプトの地からあなたがたを導き出されたのが、主であることを知るであろう。
Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, "At evening, then you shall know that Jehovah has brought you out from the land of Egypt;
7 また、朝には、あなたがたは主の栄光を見るであろう。主はあなたがたが主にむかってつぶやくのを聞かれたからである。あなたがたは、いったいわれわれを何者として、われわれにむかってつぶやくのか」。
and in the morning, then you shall see the glory of Jehovah, because he has heard your murmurings against God. Who are we, that you murmur against us?"
8 モーセはまた言った、「主は夕暮にはあなたがたに肉を与えて食べさせ、朝にはパンを与えて飽き足らせられるであろう。主はあなたがたが、主にむかってつぶやくつぶやきを聞かれたからである。いったいわれわれは何者なのか。あなたがたのつぶやくのは、われわれにむかってでなく、主にむかってである」。
Moses said, "Now Jehovah shall give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you; because Jehovah hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against God."
9 モーセはアロンに言った、「イスラエルの人々の全会衆に言いなさい、『あなたがたは主の前に近づきなさい。主があなたがたのつぶやきを聞かれたからである』と」。
Moses said to Aaron, "Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, 'Come near before God, for he has heard your murmurings.'"
10 それでアロンがイスラエルの人々の全会衆に語ったとき、彼らが荒野の方を望むと、見よ、主の栄光が雲のうちに現れていた。
It happened, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and look, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.
11 主はモーセに言われた、
Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
12 「わたしはイスラエルの人々のつぶやきを聞いた。彼らに言いなさい、『あなたがたは夕には肉を食べ、朝にはパンに飽き足りるであろう。そうしてわたしがあなたがたの神、主であることを知るであろう』と」。
"I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, 'At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread: and you shall know that I am Jehovah your God.'"
13 夕べになると、うずらが飛んできて宿営をおおった。また、朝になると、宿営の周囲に露が降りた。
It happened at evening that quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.
14 その降りた露がかわくと、荒野の面には、薄いうろこのようなものがあり、ちょうど地に結ぶ薄い霜のようであった。
When the dew that lay had gone, look, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.
15 イスラエルの人々はそれを見て互に言った、「これはなんであろう」。彼らはそれがなんであるのか知らなかったからである。モーセは彼らに言った、「これは主があなたがたの食物として賜わるパンである。
When the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, "It is the bread which Jehovah has given you to eat."
16 主が命じられるのはこうである、『あなたがたは、おのおのその食べるところに従ってそれを集め、あなたがたの人数に従って、ひとり一オメルずつ、おのおのその天幕におるもののためにそれを取りなさい』と」。
This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded: "Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent."
17 イスラエルの人々はそのようにして、ある者は多く、ある者は少なく集めた。
The children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less.
18 しかし、オメルでそれを計ってみると、多く集めた者にも余らず、少なく集めた者にも不足しなかった。おのおのその食べるところに従って集めていた。
When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They gathered every man according to his eating.
19 モーセは彼らに言った、「だれも朝までそれを残しておいてはならない」。
Moses said to them, "Let no one leave of it until the morning."
20 しかし彼らはモーセに聞き従わないで、ある者は朝までそれを残しておいたが、虫がついて臭くなった。モーセは彼らにむかって怒った。
Notwithstanding they did not listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and became foul: and Moses was angry with them.
21 彼らは、おのおのその食べるところに従って、朝ごとにそれを集めたが、日が熱くなるとそれは溶けた。
They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted.
22 六日目には、彼らは二倍のパン、すなわちひとりに二オメルを集めた。そこで、会衆の長たちは皆きて、モーセに告げたが、
It happened that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one, and all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses.
23 モーセは彼らに言った、「主の語られたのはこうである、『あすは主の聖安息日で休みである。きょう、焼こうとするものを焼き、煮ようとするものを煮なさい。残ったものはみな朝までたくわえて保存しなさい』と」。
He said to them, "This is that which Jehovah has spoken, 'Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Jehovah. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.'"
24 彼らはモーセの命じたように、それを朝まで保存したが、臭くならず、また虫もつかなかった。
They laid it up until the morning, as Moses asked, and it did not become foul, neither was there any worm in it.
25 モーセは言った、「きょう、それを食べなさい。きょうは主の安息日であるから、きょうは野でそれを獲られないであろう。
Moses said, "Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to Jehovah. Today you shall not find it in the field.
26 六日の間はそれを集めなければならない。七日目は安息日であるから、その日には無いであろう」。
Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none."
27 ところが民のうちには、七日目に出て集めようとした者があったが、獲られなかった。
It happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.
28 そこで主はモーセに言われた、「あなたがたは、いつまでわたしの戒めと、律法とを守ることを拒むのか。
Jehovah said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
29 見よ、主はあなたがたに安息日を与えられた。ゆえに六日目には、ふつか分のパンをあなたがたに賜わるのである。おのおのその所にとどまり、七日目にはその所から出てはならない」。
Look, because Jehovah has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day."
30 こうして民は七日目に休んだ。
So the people rested on the seventh day.
31 イスラエルの家はその物の名をマナと呼んだ。それはコエンドロの実のようで白く、その味は蜜を入れたせんべいのようであった。
The house of Israel called its name Manna, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.
32 モーセは言った、「主の命じられることはこうである、『それを一オメルあなたがたの子孫のためにたくわえておきなさい。それはわたしが、あなたがたをエジプトの地から導き出した時、荒野であなたがたに食べさせたパンを彼らに見させるためである』と」。
Moses said, "This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded, 'Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.'"
33 そしてモーセはアロンに言った「一つのつぼを取り、マナ一オメルをその中に入れ、それを主の前に置いて、子孫のためにたくわえなさい」。
Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and place it before God, to be kept throughout your generations."
34 そこで主がモーセに命じられたように、アロンはそれをあかしの箱の前に置いてたくわえた。
As Jehovah commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
35 イスラエルの人々は人の住む地に着くまで四十年の間マナを食べた。すなわち、彼らはカナンの地の境に至るまでマナを食べた。
The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
36 一オメルは一エパの十分の一である。
Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.
