エペソ人への手紙 6
1 子たる者よ。主にあって両親に従いなさい。これは正しいことである。
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 「あなたの父と母とを敬え」。これが第一の戒めであって、次の約束がそれについている、
“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise:
3 「そうすれば、あなたは幸福になり、地上でながく生きながらえるであろう」。
“that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”
4 父たる者よ。子供をおこらせないで、主の薫陶と訓戒とによって、彼らを育てなさい。
You fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
5 僕たる者よ。キリストに従うように、恐れおののきつつ、真心をこめて、肉による主人に従いなさい。
Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ,
6 人にへつらおうとして目先だけの勤めをするのでなく、キリストの僕として心から神の御旨を行い、
not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 人にではなく主に仕えるように、快く仕えなさい。
with good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men,
8 あなたがたが知っているとおり、だれでも良いことを行えば、僕であれ、自由人であれ、それに相当する報いを、それぞれ主から受けるであろう。
knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same good again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.
9 主人たる者よ。僕たちに対して、同様にしなさい。おどすことを、してはならない。あなたがたが知っているとおり、彼らとあなたがたとの主は天にいますのであり、かつ人をかたより見ることをなさらないのである。
You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.
10 最後に言う。主にあって、その偉大な力によって、強くなりなさい。
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 悪魔の策略に対抗して立ちうるために、神の武具で身を固めなさい。
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 それだから、悪しき日にあたって、よく抵抗し、完全に勝ち抜いて、堅く立ちうるために、神の武具を身につけなさい。
Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 すなわち、立って真理の帯を腰にしめ、正義の胸当を胸につけ、
Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 平和の福音の備えを足にはき、
and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace,
16 その上に、信仰のたてを手に取りなさい。それをもって、悪しき者の放つ火の矢を消すことができるであろう。
above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.
17 また、救のかぶとをかぶり、御霊の剣、すなわち、神の言を取りなさい。
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 絶えず祈と願いをし、どんな時でも御霊によって祈り、そのために目をさましてうむことがなく、すべての聖徒のために祈りつづけなさい。
with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
19 また、わたしが口を開くときに語るべき言葉を賜わり、大胆に福音の奥義を明らかに示しうるように、わたしのためにも祈ってほしい。
Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News,
20 わたしはこの福音のための使節であり、そして鎖につながれているのであるが、つながれていても、語るべき時には大胆に語れるように祈ってほしい。
for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 わたしがどういう様子か、何をしているかを、あなたがたに知ってもらうために、主にあって忠実に仕えている愛する兄弟テキコが、いっさいの事を報告するであろう。
But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things.
22 彼をあなたがたのもとに送るのは、あなたがたがわたしたちの様子を知り、また彼によって心に励ましを受けるようになるためなのである。
I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state and that he may comfort your hearts.
23 父なる神とわたしたちの主イエス・キリストから平安ならびに信仰に伴う愛が、兄弟たちにあるように。
Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 変らない真実をもって、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストを愛するすべての人々に、恵みがあるように。
Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.
