申命記 6
1 これはあなたがたの神、主があなたがたに教えよと命じられた命令と、定めと、おきてであって、あなたがたは渡って行って獲る地で、これを行わなければならない。
“And this [is] the command, the statutes and the judgments which your God YHWH has commanded to teach you to do in the land which you are passing over there to possess it,
2 これはあなたが子や孫と共に、あなたの生きながらえる日の間、つねにあなたの神、主を恐れて、わたしが命じるもろもろの定めと、命令とを守らせるため、またあなたが長く命を保つことのできるためである。
so that you fear your God YHWH, to keep all His statutes and His commands which I am commanding you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all [the] days of your life, and so that your days are prolonged.
3 それゆえ、イスラエルよ、聞いて、それを守り行え。そうすれば、あなたはさいわいを得、あなたの先祖の神、主があなたに言われたように、乳と蜜の流れる国で、あなたの数は大いに増すであろう。
And you have heard, O Israel, and observed to do [them], that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply exceedingly, as YHWH, God of your fathers, has spoken to you, [in] the land flowing with milk and honey.
4 イスラエルよ聞け。われわれの神、主は唯一の主である。
Hear, O Israel: Our God YHWH—YHWH [is] one!
5 あなたは心をつくし、精神をつくし、力をつくして、あなたの神、主を愛さなければならない。
And you have loved your God YHWH with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
6 きょう、わたしがあなたに命じるこれらの言葉をあなたの心に留め、
And these words which I am commanding you today have been on your heart,
7 努めてこれをあなたの子らに教え、あなたが家に座している時も、道を歩く時も、寝る時も、起きる時も、これについて語らなければならない。
and you have repeated them to your sons, and spoken of them in your sitting in your house, and in your walking in the way, and in your lying down, and in your rising up,
8 またあなたはこれをあなたの手につけてしるしとし、あなたの目の間に置いて覚えとし、
and have bound them for a sign on your hand, and they have been for frontlets between your eyes,
9 またあなたの家の入口の柱と、あなたの門とに書きしるさなければならない。
and you have written them on doorposts of your house and on your gates.
10 あなたの神、主は、あなたの先祖アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに向かって、あなたに与えると誓われた地に、あなたをはいらせられる時、あなたが建てたものでない大きな美しい町々を得させ、
And it has been, when your God YHWH brings you into the land which He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to you great and good cities which you have not built,
11 あなたが満たしたものでないもろもろの良い物を満たした家を得させ、あなたが掘ったものでない掘り井戸を得させ、あなたが植えたものでないぶどう畑とオリブの畑とを得させられるであろう。あなたは食べて飽きるであろう。
and houses full of all good things which you have not filled, and wells dug which you have not dug, vineyards and olive-yards which you have not planted, that you have eaten and been satisfied.
12 その時、あなたはみずから慎み、エジプトの地、奴隷の家から導き出された主を忘れてはならない。
Take heed to yourself lest you forget YHWH who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants.
13 あなたの神、主を恐れてこれに仕え、その名をさして誓わなければならない。
You fear your God YHWH, and you serve Him, and you swear by His Name.
14 あなたがたは他の神々すなわち周囲の民の神々に従ってはならない。
You do not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who [are] around you,
15 あなたのうちにおられるあなたの神、主はねたむ神であるから、おそらく、あなたに向かって怒りを発し、地のおもてからあなたを滅ぼし去られるであろう。
for your God YHWH [is] a zealous God in your midst—lest the anger of your God YHWH burns against you, and He has destroyed you from off the face of the ground.
16 あなたがたがマッサでしたように、あなたがたの神、主を試みてはならない。
You do not try your God YHWH as you tried [Him] in Massah.
17 あなたがたの神、主があなたがたに命じられた命令と、あかしと、定めとを、努めて守らなければならない。
You diligently keep the commands of your God YHWH, and His testimonies and His statutes which He has commanded you,
18 あなたは主が見て正しいとし、良いとされることを行わなければならない。そうすれば、あなたはさいわいを得、かつ主があなたの先祖に誓われた、あの良い地にはいって、自分のものとすることができるであろう。
and you have done that which is right and good in the eyes of YHWH, so that it is well with you, and you have gone in and possessed the good land which YHWH has sworn to your fathers,
19 また主が仰せられたように、あなたの敵を皆あなたの前から追い払われるであろう。
to drive away all your enemies from your presence, as YHWH has spoken.
20 後の日となって、あなたの子があなたに問うて言うであろう、『われわれの神、主があなたがたに命じられたこのあかしと、定めと、おきてとは、なんのためですか』。
When your son asks you hereafter, saying, What [are] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments which our God YHWH has commanded you?
21 その時あなたはその子に言わなければならない。『われわれはエジプトでパロの奴隷であったが、主は強い手をもって、われわれをエジプトから導き出された。
Then you have said to your son, We have been servants of Pharaoh in Egypt, and YHWH brings us out of Egypt by a high hand;
22 主はわれわれの目の前で、大きな恐ろしいしるしと不思議とをエジプトと、パロとその全家とに示され、
and YHWH gives signs and wonders, great and severe, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;
23 われわれをそこから導き出し、かつてわれわれの先祖に誓われた地にはいらせ、それをわれわれに賜わった。
and He has brought us out from there, in order to bring us in, to give to us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.
24 そして主はこのすべての定めを行えと、われわれに命じられた。これはわれわれの神、主を恐れて、われわれが、つねにさいわいであり、また今日のように、主がわれわれを守って命を保たせるためである。
And YHWH commands us to do all these statutes, to fear our God YHWH, for good to ourselves [for] all the days, to keep us alive, as [at] this day;
25 もしわれわれが、命じられたとおりに、このすべての命令をわれわれの神、主の前に守って行うならば、それはわれわれの義となるであろう』。
and it is righteousness for us when we observe to do all this command before our God YHWH, as He has commanded us.”
