申命記 13
1 あなたがたのうちに預言者または夢みる者が起って、しるしや奇跡を示し、
If there rise in the midst of thee a prophet or one that saith he hath dreamed a dream, and he foretell a sign and a wonder,
2 あなたに告げるそのしるしや奇跡が実現して、あなたがこれまで知らなかった『ほかの神々に、われわれは従い仕えよう』と言っても、
And that come to pass which he spoke, and he say to thee: Let us go and follow strange gods, which thou knowest not, and let us serve them:
3 あなたはその預言者または夢みる者の言葉に聞き従ってはならない。あなたがたの神、主はあなたがたが心をつくし、精神をつくして、あなたがたの神、主を愛するか、どうかを知ろうと、このようにあなたがたを試みられるからである。
Thou shalt not hear the words of that prophet or dreamer: for the Lord your God trieth you, that it may appear whether you love him with all your heart, and with all your soul, or not.
4 あなたがたの神、主に従って歩み、彼を恐れ、その戒めを守り、その言葉に聞き従い、彼に仕え、彼につき従わなければならない。
Follow the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and hear his voice: him you shall serve, and to him you shall cleave.
5 その預言者または夢みる者を殺さなければならない。あなたがたをエジプトの国から導き出し、奴隷の家からあがなわれたあなたがたの神、主にあなたがたをそむかせ、あなたの神、主が歩めと命じられた道を離れさせようとして語るゆえである。こうしてあなたがたのうちから悪を除き去らなければならない。
And that prophet or forger of dreams shall be slain: because he spoke to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of bondage: to make thee go out of the way, which the Lord thy God commanded thee: and thou shalt take away the evil out of the midst of thee.
6 同じ母に生れたあなたの兄弟、またはあなたのむすこ、娘、またはあなたのふところの妻、またはあなたと身命を共にする友が、ひそかに誘って『われわれは行って他の神々に仕えよう』と言うかも知れない。これはあなたも先祖たちも知らなかった神々、
If thy brother the son of thy mother, or thy son, or daughter, or thy wife that is in thy bosom, or thy friend, whom thou lovest as thy own soul, would persuade thee secretly, saying: Let us go, and serve strange gods, which thou knowest not, nor thy fathers,
7 すなわち地のこのはてから、地のかのはてまで、あるいは近く、あるいは遠く、あなたの周囲にある民の神々である。
Of all the nations round about, that are near or afar off, from one end of the earth to the other,
8 しかし、あなたはその人に従ってはならない。その人の言うことを聞いてはならない。その人をあわれんではならない。その人を惜しんではならない。その人をかばってはならない。
Consent not to him, hear him not, neither let thy eye spare him to pity and conceal him,
9 必ず彼を殺さなければならない。彼を殺すには、あなたがまず彼に手を下し、その後、民がみな手を下さなければならない。
But thou shalt presently put him to death. It Let thy hand be first upon him, and afterwards the hands of all the people.
10 彼はエジプトの国、奴隷の家からあなたを導き出されたあなたの神、主からあなたを離れさせようとしたのであるから、あなたは石をもって彼を撃ち殺さなければならない。
With stones shall he be stoned to death: because he would have withdrawn thee from the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage:
11 そうすればイスラエルは皆聞いて恐れ、重ねてこのような悪い事を、あなたがたのうちに行わないであろう。
That all Israel hearing may fear, and may do no more any thing like this.
12 あなたの神、主があなたに与えて住まわせられる町の一つで、
If in one of thy cities, which the Lord thy God shall give thee to dwell in, thou hear some say:
13 よこしまな人々があなたがたのうちに起って、あなたがたの知らなかった『ほかの神々に、われわれは行って仕えよう』と言って、その町に住む人々を誘惑したことを聞くならば、
Children of Belial are gone out of the midst of thee, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, and have said: Let us go, and serve strange gods which you know not:
14 あなたはそれを尋ね、探り、よく問いたださなければならない。そして、そのような憎むべき事があなたがたのうちに行われた事が、真実で、確かならば、
Inquire carefully and diligently, the truth of the thing by looking well into it, and if thou find that which is said to be certain, and that this abomination hath been really committed,
15 あなたは必ず、その町に住む者をつるぎの刃にかけて撃ち殺し、その町と、そのうちにおるすべての者、およびその家畜をつるぎの刃にかけて、ことごとく滅ぼさなければならない。
Thou shalt forthwith kill the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, and shalt destroy it and all things that are in it, even the cattle.
16 またそのすべてのぶんどり物は、町の広場の中央に集め、火をもってその町と、すべてのぶんどり物とを、ことごとく焼いて、あなたの神、主にささげなければならない。これはながく荒塚となって、再び建て直されないであろう。
And all the household goods that are there, thou shalt gather together in the midst of the streets thereof, and shalt burn them with the city itself, so as to consume all for the Lord thy God, and that it be a heap for ever: it shall be built no more.
17 そののろわれた物は一つもあなたの手に留めおいてはならない。主が激しい怒りをやめ、あなたに慈悲を施して、あなたをあわれみ、先祖たちに誓われたように、あなたの数を多くされるためである。
And there shall nothing of that anathema stick to thy hand: that the Lord may turn from the wrath of his fury, and may have mercy on thee, and multiply thee as he swore to thy fathers,
18 あなたの神、主の言葉に聞き従い、わたしが、きょう、命じるすべての戒めを守り、あなたの神、主が正しいと見られる事を行うならば、このようになるであろう。
When thou shalt hear the voice of the Lord thy God, keeping all his precepts, which I command thee this day, that thou mayst do what is pleasing in the sight of the Lord thy God.
