ダニエル書 10
1 ペルシャの王クロスの第三年に、ベルテシャザルと名づけられたダニエルに、一つの言葉が啓示されたが、その言葉は真実であり、大いなる戦いを意味するものであった。彼はその言葉に心を留め、その幻を悟った。
In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Baltasar; and the thing was true, and great power and understanding in the vision was given to him.
2 そのころ、われダニエルは三週の間、悲しんでいた。
In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 すなわち三週間の全く満ちるまでは、うまい物を食べず、肉と酒とを口にせず、また身に油を塗らなかった。
I ate no pleasant bread, and no flesh or wine entered into my mouth, neither did I anoint myself with oil, until three whole weeks were accomplished.
4 正月の二十四日に、わたしがチグリスという大川の岸に立っていたとき、
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was near the great river, which is Tigris Eddekel.
5 目をあげて望み見ると、ひとりの人がいて、亜麻布の衣を着、ウパズの金の帯を腰にしめていた。
And I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a man clothed in linen, and his loins were girded with gold of Ophaz:
6 そのからだは緑柱石のごとく、その顔は電光のごとく、その目は燃えるたいまつのごとく、その腕と足は、みがいた青銅のように輝き、その言葉の声は、群衆の声のようであった。
and his body was as Tharsis, and his face was a the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his legs as the appearance of shining brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude.
7 この幻を見た者は、われダニエルのみであって、わたしと共にいた人々は、この幻を見なかったが、彼らは大いにおののいて、逃げかくれた。
And I Daniel only saw the vision: and the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great amazement fell upon them, and they fled in fear.
8 それでわたしひとり残って、この大いなる幻を見たので、力が抜け去り、わが顔の輝きは恐ろしく変って、全く力がなくなった。
So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there was no strength left in me, and my glory was turned into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 わたしはその言葉の声を聞いたが、その言葉の声を聞いたとき、顔を伏せ、地にひれ伏して、深い眠りに陥った。
Yet I heard the voice of his words: and when I heard him I was pricked [in the heart], and [I fell with] my face to the earth.
10 見よ、一つの手があって、わたしに触れたので、わたしは震えながらひざまずき、手をつくと、
And, behold, a hand touched me, and it raised me on my knees.
11 彼はわたしに言った、「大いに愛せられる人ダニエルよ、わたしがあなたに告げる言葉に心を留め、立ちあがりなさい。わたしは今あなたのもとにつかわされたのです」。彼がこの言葉をわたしに告げているとき、わたしは震えながら立ちあがった。
And he said to me, O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words which I speak to you, and stand upright: for I am now sent to you. And when he had spoken to me this word, I stood trembling.
12 すると彼はわたしに言った、「ダニエルよ、恐れるに及ばない。あなたが悟ろうと心をこめ、あなたの神の前に身を悩ましたその初めの日から、あなたの言葉は、すでに聞かれたので、わたしは、あなたの言葉のゆえにきたのです。
And he said to me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that you did set your heart to understand, and to afflict yourself before the Lord your God, they words were heard, and I am come because of your words.
13 ペルシャの国の君が、二十一日の間わたしの前に立ちふさがったが、天使の長のひとりであるミカエルがきて、わたしを助けたので、わたしは、彼をペルシャの国の君と共に、そこに残しておき、
But the prince of the kingdom of the Persians withstood me twenty-one days: and behold, Michael, one of the princes, came to help me; and I left him there with the chief of the kingdom of the Persians:
14 末の日に、あなたの民に臨まんとする事を、あなたに悟らせるためにきたのです。この幻は、なおきたるべき日にかかわるものです」。
and I have come to inform you of all that shall befall your people in the last days: for the vision is yet for [many] days.
15 彼がこれらの言葉を、わたしに述べていたとき、わたしは、地にひれ伏して黙っていたが、
And when he had spoken with me according to these words, I turned my face to the ground, and was pricked [in the heart].
16 見よ、人の子のような者が、わたしのくちびるにさわったので、わたしは口を開き、わが前に立っている者に語って言った、「わが主よ、この幻によって、苦しみがわたしに臨み、全く力を失いました。
And, behold, as it were the likeness of a son of man touched my lips; and I opened my mouth, and spoke, and said to him that stood before me, O [my] lord, at the sight of you my bowels were turned within me, and I had no strength.
17 わが主のしもべは、どうしてわが主と語ることができましょう。わたしは全く力を失い、息も止まるばかりです」。
And how shall your servant be able, O [my] lord, to speak with this my lord? and as for me, from henceforth strength will not remain in me, and there is no breath left in me.
18 人の形をした者は、再びわたしにさわり、わたしを力づけて、
And there touched me again as it were the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19 言った、「大いに愛せられる人よ、恐れるには及ばない。安心しなさい。心を強くし、勇気を出しなさい」。彼がこう言ったとき、わたしは力づいて言った、「わが主よ、語ってください。あなたは、わたしに力をつけてくださったから」。
and said to me, Fear not, man greatly beloved: peace be to you, quit yourself like a man, and be strong. And when he had spoken with me, I received strength, and said, Let my lord speak; for you have strengthened me.
20 そこで彼は言った、「あなたは、わたしがなんのためにきたかを知っていますか。わたしは、今帰っていって、ペルシャの君と戦おうとしているのです。彼との戦いがすむと、ギリシヤの君があらわれるでしょう。
And he said, Know you, therefore I am come to you? and now I will return to fight with the prince of the Persians: and I was going in, and the prince of the Greeks came.
21 しかしわたしは、まず真理の書にしるされている事を、あなたに告げよう。わたしを助けて、彼らと戦う者は、あなたがたの君ミカエルのほかにはありません。
But I will tell you that which is ordained in the scripture of truth: and there is no one that holds with me in these matters but Michael your prince.
