アモス書 2
1 主はこう言われる、「モアブの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がエドムの王の骨を焼いて灰にしたからである。
Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Moab, and because of four, will I not turn it back, —Because he burned the bones of the King of Edom to lime,
2 それゆえ、わたしはモアブに火を送り、ケリオテのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。モアブは騒ぎと、ときの声と、ラッパの音の中に死ぬ。
Therefore will I send a fire into Moab, which shall devour the palaces of Kerioth—and Moab, shall die with tumult, with war- cry, with the sound of a horn;
3 わたしはそのうちから、支配者を断ち、そのすべてのつかさを彼と共に殺す」と主は言われる。
And I will cut off the judge out of her midst, and, all her rulers, will I slay with him, saith Yahweh.
4 主はこう言われる、「ユダの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが主の律法を捨て、その定めを守らず、その先祖たちが従い歩いた偽りの物に惑わされたからである。
Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Judah, and because of four, will I not turn it back, —Because they have rejected the law of Yahweh, and, his statutes, have not kept, but their falsehoods, have led them astray, after the which their fathers, did walk,
5 それゆえ、わたしはユダに火を送り、エルサレムのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
Therefore will I send a fire upon Judah, —which shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6 主はこう言われる、「イスラエルの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが正しい者を金のために売り、貧しい者をくつ一足のために売るからである。
Thus, saith Yahweh, Because of three transgressions of Israel, and because of four, will I not turn it back, —Because they have sold—for silver—the righteous, and the needy—for a pair of shoes:
7 彼らは弱い者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ、苦しむ者の道をまげ、また父子ともにひとりの女のところへ行って、わが聖なる名を汚す。
Who strive to bring the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and, the way of the oppressed, they pervert, —Yea, a man and his own father, go in unto the maid, to profane my holy Name!
8 彼らはすべての祭壇のかたわらに質に取った衣服を敷いて、その上に伏し、罰金をもって得た酒を、その神の家で飲む。
And, on pledged garments, they recline, beside every altar, —and, exacted wine, do they drink, in the house of their God.
9 さきにわたしはアモリびとを彼らの前から滅ぼした。これはその高きこと、香柏のごとく、その強きこと、かしの木のようであったが、わたしはその上の実と、下の根とを滅ぼした。
Yet it was, I, who destroyed the Amorite, from before them, whose height was, like the height of cedars, and, strong, was he, like the oaks, —but I destroyed his fruit above, and his roots beneath.
10 わたしはまた、あなたがたをエジプトの地から連れ上り、四十年のあいだ荒野で、あなたがたを導き、アモリびとの地を獲させた。
And it was, I, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, —and led you in the desert, forty years, to take possession of the land of the Amorites;
11 わたしはあなたがたの子らのうちから預言者を起し、あなたがたの若者のうちからナジルびとを起した。イスラエルの人々よ、そうではないか」と主は言われる。
And I raised up, of your sons, for prophets, and, of your young men, for Nazirites, —Was it not even so, ye sons of Israel? Demandeth Yahweh;
12 「ところがあなたがたはナジルびとに酒を飲ませ、預言者に命じて『預言するな』と言う。
And yet ye caused the Nazirites to drink wine, —and, on the prophet, laid ye command, saying, Ye shall not prophesy!
13 見よ、わたしは麦束をいっぱい積んだ車が物を圧するように、あなたがたをその所で圧する。
Lo! I, am pressed under you, —as a full cart is pressed by its sheaves,
14 速く走る者も逃げ場を失い、強い者もその力をふるうことができず、勇士もその命を救うことができない。
Therefore shall flight, perish, from the swift, and, the mighty, shall not invigorate his strength, —nor shall, the hero, escape with his life;
15 弓をとる者も立つことができず、足早の者も自分を救うことができず、馬に乗る者もその命を救うことができない。
Nor, he that handleth the bow, make a stand, and, the swift on his feet, shall not escape, —nor, he that rideth on a horse, escape with his life:
16 勇士のうちの雄々しい心の者もその日には裸で逃げる」と主は言われる。
Nay, he that is stout in his heart, among heroes, naked, shall flee, in that day, Declareth Yahweh.
