アモス書 1
1 テコアの牧者のひとりであるアモスの言葉。これはユダの王ウジヤの世、イスラエルの王ヨアシの子ヤラベアムの世、地震の二年前に、彼がイスラエルについて示されたものである。
The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa, which he prophesied concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earth quake. He said: —
2 彼は言った、「主はシオンからほえ、エルサレムから声を出される。牧者の牧場は嘆き、カルメルの頂は枯れる」。
Jehovah will roar from Zion, And utter his voice from Jerusalem; The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, And the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 主はこう言われる、「ダマスコの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが鉄のすり板で、ギレアデを踏みにじったからである。
Thus saith Jehovah; For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; For they thrashed Gilead with thrashing-wains of iron.
4 わたしはハザエルの家に火を送り、ベネハダデのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。
I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 わたしはダマスコの貫の木を砕き、アベンの谷から住民を断ち、ベテエデンから王のつえをとる者を断つ。スリヤの民はキルに捕えられて行く」と主は言われる。
I will also break the bar of Damascus, And I will destroy the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-Eden, And the people of Syria shall be led captive to Kir: Jehovah hath said it.
6 主はこう言われる、「ガザの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが人々をことごとく捕えて行って、エドムに渡したからである。
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I will not turn away its punishment; For they led captive all that fell into their hands, And delivered them up to Edom.
7 わたしはガザの石がきに火を送り、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。
But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, Which shall devour her palaces.
8 わたしはアシドドから住民を断ち、アシケロンから王のつえをとる者を断つ。わたしはまた手をかえしてエクロンを撃つ。そして残ったペリシテびとも滅びる」と主なる神は言われる。
And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; And I will turn my hand against Ekron, And the residue of the Philistines shall perish. The Lord, Jehovah, hath said it.
9 主はこう言われる、「ツロの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが人々をことごとくエドムに渡し、また兄弟の契約を心に留めなかったからである。
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; Because they delivered up all their captives to Edom, And remembered not the brotherly covenant.
10 それゆえ、わたしはツロの石がきに火を送り、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, Which shall devour her palaces.
11 主はこう言われる、「エドムの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がつるぎをもってその兄弟を追い、全くあわれみの情を断ち、常に怒って、人をかき裂き、ながくその憤りを保ったからである。
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, will I not turn away his punishment; For he pursued his brother with the sword, And cast off all pity, And his anger tore perpetually; Yea, he kept his wrath forever.
12 それゆえ、わたしはテマンに火を送り、ボズラのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
But I will send a fire upon Teman. Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 主はこう言われる、「アンモンの人々の三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らがその国境を広げるために、ギレアデのはらんでいる女をひき裂いたからである。
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, And for four, will I not turn away their punishment; For they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, That they might enlarge their border.
14 それゆえ、わたしはラバの石がきに火をはなち、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。これは戦いの日に、ときの声をもってせられ、つむじ風の日に、暴風をもってせられる。
But I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah, Which shall devour her palaces, Amid the war-shout in the day of battle, In a whirlwind in the day of the storm.
15 彼らの王はそのつかさたちと共に捕えられて行く」と主は言われる。
Their king shall go into captivity, He and his princes together, saith Jehovah.
