使徒の働き 4
1 彼らが人々にこのように語っているあいだに、祭司たち、宮守がしら、サドカイ人たちが近寄ってきて、
As Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees came to them,
2 彼らが人々に教を説き、イエス自身に起った死人の復活を宣伝しているのに気をいら立て、
greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 彼らに手をかけて捕え、はや日が暮れていたので、翌朝まで留置しておいた。
So they arrested them and took them into custody until the next day, for it was already evening.
4 しかし、彼らの話を聞いた多くの人たちは信じた。そして、その男の数が五千人ほどになった。
But many who heard the word believed, and the number of men who believed came to about five thousand.
5 明くる日、役人、長老、律法学者たちが、エルサレムに召集された。
On the next day, the rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem,
6 大祭司アンナスをはじめ、カヤパ、ヨハネ、アレキサンデル、そのほか大祭司の一族もみな集まった。
along with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and all who were members of the high-priestly family.
7 そして、そのまん中に使徒たちを立たせて尋問した、「あなたがたは、いったい、なんの権威、また、だれの名によって、このことをしたのか」。
After making Peter and John stand before them, they began to question them: “By what power or by what name did you do this?”
8 その時、ペテロが聖霊に満たされて言った、「民の役人たち、ならびに長老たちよ、
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel,
9 わたしたちが、きょう、取調べを受けているのは、病人に対してした良いわざについてであり、この人がどうしていやされたかについてであるなら、
if we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man and by what means he has been healed,
10 あなたがたご一同も、またイスラエルの人々全体も、知っていてもらいたい。この人が元気になってみんなの前に立っているのは、ひとえに、あなたがたが十字架につけて殺したのを、神が死人の中からよみがえらせたナザレ人イエス・キリストの御名によるのである。
let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead.
11 このイエスこそは『あなたがた家造りらに捨てられたが、隅のかしら石となった石』なのである。
This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.
12 この人による以外に救はない。わたしたちを救いうる名は、これを別にしては、天下のだれにも与えられていないからである」。
There is salvation in no other, for there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved.”
13 人々はペテロとヨハネとの大胆な話しぶりを見、また同時に、ふたりが無学な、ただの人たちであることを知って、不思議に思った。そして彼らがイエスと共にいた者であることを認め、
When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and when they realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.
14 かつ、彼らにいやされた者がそのそばに立っているのを見ては、まったく返す言葉がなかった。
But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, they had nothing to say in opposition.
15 そこで、ふたりに議会から退場するように命じてから、互に協議をつづけて
So they ordered Peter and John to step out from the Sanhedrin while they conferred with one another,
16 言った、「あの人たちを、どうしたらよかろうか。彼らによって著しいしるしが行われたことは、エルサレムの住民全体に知れわたっているので、否定しようもない。
saying, “What should we do with these men? For it is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem that a notable sign has been done through them, and we cannot deny it.
17 ただ、これ以上このことが民衆の間にひろまらないように、今後はこの名によって、いっさいだれにも語ってはいけないと、おどしてやろうではないか」。
But so that it may not spread any further among the people, we will strictly warn them to speak no more in this name to any of the people.”
18 そこで、ふたりを呼び入れて、イエスの名によって語ることも説くことも、いっさい相成らぬと言いわたした。
Then they called them in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
19 ペテロとヨハネとは、これに対して言った、「神に聞き従うよりも、あなたがたに聞き従う方が、神の前に正しいかどうか、判断してもらいたい。
But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge.
20 わたしたちとしては、自分の見たこと聞いたことを、語らないわけにはいかない」。
For we cannot help but speak about what we have seen and heard.”
21 そこで、彼らはふたりを更におどしたうえ、ゆるしてやった。みんなの者が、この出来事のために、神をあがめていたので、その人々の手前、ふたりを罰するすべがなかったからである。
So after threatening Peter and John further, they released them, finding no way to punish them, because all the people were glorifying God for what had happened.
22 そのしるしによっていやされたのは、四十歳あまりの人であった。
For the man on whom this sign of healing had been performed was more than forty years old.
23 ふたりはゆるされてから、仲間の者たちのところに帰って、祭司長たちや長老たちが言ったいっさいのことを報告した。
After being released, Peter and John went to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
24 一同はこれを聞くと、口をそろえて、神にむかい声をあげて言った、「天と地と海と、その中のすべてのものとの造りぬしなる主よ。
When they heard this, they lifted up their voices with one accord to God and said, “Master, yoʋ are God, who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them.
25 あなたは、わたしたちの先祖、あなたの僕ダビデの口をとおして、聖霊によって、こう仰せになりました、『なぜ、異邦人らは、騒ぎ立ち、もろもろの民は、むなしいことを図り、
It is yoʋ who said through the mouth of yoʋr servant David, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot foolish things?
26 地上の王たちは、立ちかまえ、支配者たちは、党を組んで、主とそのキリストとに逆らったのか』。
The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers are gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed.’
27 まことに、ヘロデとポンテオ・ピラトとは、異邦人らやイスラエルの民と一緒になって、この都に集まり、あなたから油を注がれた聖なる僕イエスに逆らい、
For indeed both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against yoʋr holy servant Jesus, whom yoʋ anointed,
28 み手とみ旨とによって、あらかじめ定められていたことを、なし遂げたのです。
to do whatever yoʋr hand and yoʋr plan had foreordained to take place.
29 主よ、いま、彼らの脅迫に目をとめ、僕たちに、思い切って大胆に御言葉を語らせて下さい。
And now, Lord, take note of their threats and grant it to yoʋr servants to speak yoʋr word with all boldness,
30 そしてみ手を伸ばしていやしをなし、聖なる僕イエスの名によって、しるしと奇跡とを行わせて下さい」。
as yoʋ stretch out yoʋr hand to heal and to perform signs and wonders through the name of yoʋr holy servant Jesus.”
31 彼らが祈り終えると、その集まっていた場所が揺れ動き、一同は聖霊に満たされて、大胆に神の言を語り出した。
After they prayed, the place where they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking the word of God with boldness.
32 信じた者の群れは、心を一つにし思いを一つにして、だれひとりその持ち物を自分のものだと主張する者がなく、いっさいの物を共有にしていた。
Now the hearts and souls of the multitude of believers were one, and no one was saying that any of their belongings was his own, but everything they owned was held in common.
33 使徒たちは主イエスの復活について、非常に力強くあかしをした。そして大きなめぐみが、彼ら一同に注がれた。
With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.
34 彼らの中に乏しい者は、ひとりもいなかった。地所や家屋を持っている人たちは、それを売り、売った物の代金をもってきて、
There was no one needy among them, for all who owned plots of land or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold.
35 使徒たちの足もとに置いた。そしてそれぞれの必要に応じて、だれにでも分け与えられた。
They laid the money at the feet of the apostles, and the proceeds were distributed to anyone who had need.
36 クプロ生れのレビ人で、使徒たちにバルナバ（「慰めの子」との意）と呼ばれていたヨセフは、
Joses, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”), a Levite and Cypriot by birth,
37 自分の所有する畑を売り、その代金をもってきて、使徒たちの足もとに置いた。
also sold a field he owned and then brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.
