ペテロの手紙第二 1
1 イエス・キリストの僕また使徒であるシメオン・ペテロから、わたしたちの神と救主イエス・キリストとの義によって、わたしたちと同じ尊い信仰を授かった人々へ。
Simon Peter, slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained with us the same kind of faith in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
2 神とわたしたちの主イエスとを知ることによって、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたに豊かに加わるように。
may grace and peace be multiplied to you through a real knowledge of God and of our Lord Jesus,
3 いのちと信心とにかかわるすべてのことは、主イエスの神聖な力によって、わたしたちに与えられている。それは、ご自身の栄光と徳とによって、わたしたちを召されたかたを知る知識によるのである。
in that His divine power has granted to us all things pertaining to life and godliness, through the real knowledge of the One who called us by glory and excellence,
4 また、それらのものによって、尊く、大いなる約束が、わたしたちに与えられている。それは、あなたがたが、世にある欲のために滅びることを免れ、神の性質にあずかる者となるためである。
through which He has granted to us such precious and extraordinary promises, so that through these you may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped the depravity that is in the world because of lust.
5 それだから、あなたがたは、力の限りをつくして、あなたがたの信仰に徳を加え、徳に知識を、
So for this very reason, making every effort, to your faith add excellence, and to the excellence knowledge,
6 知識に節制を、節制に忍耐を、忍耐に信心を、
and to the knowledge self-control, and to the self-control perseverance, and to the perseverance godliness,
7 信心に兄弟愛を、兄弟愛に愛を加えなさい。
and to the godliness brotherly affection, and to the brotherly affection love.
8 これらのものがあなたがたに備わって、いよいよ豊かになるならば、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストを知る知識について、あなたがたは、怠る者、実を結ばない者となることはないであろう。
Because with these things existing and increasing in you, it makes you to be neither useless nor unfruitful in the real knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 これらのものを備えていない者は、盲人であり、近視の者であり、自分の以前の罪がきよめられたことを忘れている者である。
For he who lacks these things is blind, being so myopic, having forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.
10 兄弟たちよ。それだから、ますます励んで、あなたがたの受けた召しと選びとを、確かなものにしなさい。そうすれば、決してあやまちに陥ることはない。
Therefore, brothers, you should be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.
Because in this way you will be granted the abundant entrance into the unending kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
12 それだから、あなたがたは既にこれらのことを知っており、また、いま持っている真理に堅く立ってはいるが、わたしは、これらのことをいつも、あなたがたに思い起させたいのである。
So then, I will not neglect to keep reminding you about these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.
13 わたしがこの幕屋にいる間、あなたがたに思い起させて、奮い立たせることが適当と思う。
Yes, I think it right to stir you up by a reminder, as long as I am in this ‘tent’,
14 それは、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストもわたしに示して下さったように、わたしのこの幕屋を脱ぎ去る時が間近であることを知っているからである。
knowing that the shedding of my ‘tent’ is imminent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
15 わたしが世を去った後にも、これらのことを、あなたがたにいつも思い出させるように努めよう。
Moreover I will take pains to provide a reminder of these things for you to have, as needed, after my exit.
16 わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの力と来臨とを、あなたがたに知らせた時、わたしたちは、巧みな作り話を用いることはしなかった。わたしたちが、そのご威光の目撃者なのだからである。
Now then, we did not follow craftily devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; rather we were attentive eyewitnesses of His majesty
17 イエスは父なる神からほまれと栄光とをお受けになったが、その時、おごそかな栄光の中から次のようなみ声がかかったのである、「これはわたしの愛する子、わたしの心にかなう者である」。
—because He received from God the Father honor and glory when that Voice was directed to Him by the Magnificent Glory, “This is my Son, the beloved, in whom I am always well pleased”—
18 わたしたちもイエスと共に聖なる山にいて、天から出たこの声を聞いたのである。
yes, we heard this Voice being uttered from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 こうして、預言の言葉は、わたしたちにいっそう確実なものになった。あなたがたも、夜が明け、明星がのぼって、あなたがたの心の中を照すまで、この預言の言葉を暗やみに輝くともしびとして、それに目をとめているがよい。
And so we have the most reliable prophetic Word, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
20 聖書の預言はすべて、自分勝手に解釈すべきでないことを、まず第一に知るべきである。
knowing this first, that no Prophecy of Scripture comes to be from private release;
21 なぜなら、預言は決して人間の意志から出たものではなく、人々が聖霊に感じ、神によって語ったものだからである。
for no Prophecy ever came by the will of man, rather holy men of God spoke as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
