列王記Ⅱ 12
1 ヨアシはエヒウの第七年に位につき、エルサレムで四十年の間、世を治めた。その母はベエルシバの出身で、名をヂビアといった。
Joas began to reign in the seventh year of Ju, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Sabia of Bersabee.
2 ヨアシは一生の間、主の目にかなう事をおこなった。祭司エホヤダが彼を教えたからである。
And Joas did that which was right in the sight of the Lord all the days that Jodae the priest instructed him.
3 しかし高き所は除かなかったので、民はなおその高き所で犠牲をささげ、香をたいた。
Only there were not [any] of the high places removed, and the people still sacrificed there, and burned incense on the high places.
4 ヨアシは祭司たちに言った、「すべて主の宮に聖別してささげる銀、すなわちおのおのが課せられて、割当にしたがって人々の出す銀、および人々が心から願って主の宮の持ってくる銀は、
And Joas said to the priests, [As for] all the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of the Lord, the money of valuation, [as] each man brings the money of valuation, all the money which any man may feel disposed to bring into the house of the Lord,
5 これを祭司たちがおのおのその知る人から受け取り、どこでも主の宮に破れの見える時は、それをもってその破れを繕わなければならない」。
let the priests take it to themselves, every man from [the proceeds of] his sale: and they shall repair the breaches of the house in all [places] wherever a breach shall be found.
6 ところがヨアシ王の二十三年に至るまで、祭司たちは主の宮の破れを繕わなかった。
And it came to pass in the twenty-third year of king Joas the priests [had] not repaired the breaches of the house.
7 それで、ヨアシ王は祭司エホヤダおよび他の祭司たちを召して言った、「なぜ、あなたがたは主の宮の破れを繕わないのか。あなたがたはもはや知人から銀を受けてはならない。主の宮の破れを繕うためにそれを渡しなさい」。
And king Joas called Jodae the priest, and the [other] priests, and said to them, Why have you not repaired the breaches of the house? now then receive no [more] money from your sales, for you shall give it to [repair the] breaches of the house.
8 祭司たちは重ねて民から銀を受けない事と、主の宮の破れを繕わない事とに同意した。
And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, and not to repair the breaches of the house.
9 そこで祭司エホヤダは一つの箱を取り、そのふたに穴をあけて、それを主の宮の入口の右側、祭壇のかたわらに置いた。そして門を守る祭司たちは主の宮にはいってくる銀をことごとくその中に入れた。
And Jodae the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it by the altar in the house of a man [belonging to] the house of the Lord, and the priests that kept the door put [therein] all the money that was found in the house of the Lord.
10 こうしてその箱の中に銀が多くなったのを見ると、王の書記官と大祭司が上ってきて、主の宮にある銀を数えて袋に詰めた。
And it came to pass, when they saw that [there was] much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest went up, and they tied up and counted the money that was found in the house of the Lord.
11 そしてその数えた銀を、工事をつかさどる主の宮の監督者の手にわたしたので、彼らはそれを主の宮に働く木工と建築師に払い、
And they gave the money that had been collected into the hands of them that wrought the works, the overseers of the house of the Lord; and they gave it out to the carpenters and to the builders that wrought in the house of the Lord.
12 石工および石切りに払い、またそれをもって主の宮の破れを繕う材木と切り石を買い、主の宮を繕うために用いるすべての物のために費した。
And to the masons, and to the hewers of stone, to purchase timber and hewn stone to repair the breaches of the house of the Lord, for all that was spent on the house of the Lord to repair [it].
13 ただし、主の宮にはいってくるその銀をもって主の宮のために銀のたらい、心切りばさみ、鉢、ラッパ、金の器、銀の器などを造ることはしなかった。
Only there were not to be made for the house of the Lord silver plates, studs, bowls, or trumpets, any vessel of gold or vessel of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the Lord:
14 ただこれを工事をする者に渡して、それで主の宮を繕わせた。
for they were to give it to the workmen, and they repaired therewith the house of the Lord.
15 またその銀を渡して工事をする者に払わせた人々と計算することはしなかった。彼らは正直に事をおこなったからである。
Also they took no account of the men into whose hands they gave the money to give to the workmen, for they acted faithfully.
16 愆祭の銀と罪祭の銀は主の宮に、はいらないで、祭司に帰した。
Money for a sin-offering, and money for a trespass-offering, whatever happened to be brought into the house of the Lord, went to the priests.
17 そのころ、スリヤの王ハザエルが上ってきて、ガテを攻めてこれを取った。そしてハザエルがエルサレムに攻め上ろうとして、その顔を向けたとき、
Then went up Azael king of Syria, and fought against Geth, and took it: and Azael set his face to go against Jerusalem.
18 ユダの王ヨアシはその先祖、ユダの王ヨシャパテ、ヨラム、アハジヤが聖別してささげたすべての物、およびヨアシ自身が聖別してささげた物、ならびに主の宮の倉と、主の宮にある金をことごとく取って、スリヤ王のハザエルに贈ったので、ハザエルはエルサレムを離れ去った。
And Joas king of Juda took all the holy things which Josaphat, and Joram, Ochozias, his fathers, and kings of Juda [had] consecrated, and what he had himself dedicated, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the Lord's house and the king's house, and he sent [them] to Azael king of Syria; and he went up from Jerusalem.
19 ヨアシのその他の事績および彼がしたすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。
And the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, behold, [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?
20 ヨアシの家来たちは立って徒党を結び、シラに下る道にあるミロの家でヨアシを殺した。
And his servants rose up and made a conspiracy, and struck Joas in the house of Mallo that is in Sela.
21 すなわちその家来シメアテの子ヨザカルと、ショメルの子ヨザバデが彼を撃って殺し、彼をその先祖と同じく、ダビデの町に葬った。その子アマジヤが代って王となった。
And Jezirchar the son of Jemuath, and Jezabuth Somer's son, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amessias his son reigned in his stead.
