コリント人への手紙第二 3
1 わたしたちは、またもや、自己推薦をし始めているのだろうか。それとも、ある人々のように、あなたがたにあてた、あるいは、あなたがたからの推薦状が必要なのだろうか。
Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or do we need, as some, commendatory letters to you, or [commendatory] from you?
2 わたしたちの推薦状は、あなたがたなのである。それは、わたしたちの心にしるされていて、すべての人に知られ、かつ読まれている。
Ye are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read of all men,
3 そして、あなたがたは自分自身が、わたしたちから送られたキリストの手紙であって、墨によらず生ける神の霊によって書かれ、石の板にではなく人の心の板に書かれたものであることを、はっきりとあらわしている。
being manifested to be Christ's epistle ministered by us, written, not with ink, but [the] Spirit of [the] living God; not on stone tables, but on fleshy tables of [the] heart.
4 こうした確信を、わたしたちはキリストにより神に対していだいている。
And such confidence have we through the Christ towards God:
5 もちろん、自分自身で事を定める力が自分にある、と言うのではない。わたしたちのこうした力は、神からきている。
not that we are competent of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our competency [is] of God;
6 神はわたしたちに力を与えて、新しい契約に仕える者とされたのである。それは、文字に仕える者ではなく、霊に仕える者である。文字は人を殺し、霊は人を生かす。
who has also made us competent, [as] ministers of [the] new covenant; not of letter, but of spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens.
7 もし石に彫りつけた文字による死の務が栄光のうちに行われ、そのためイスラエルの子らは、モーセの顔の消え去るべき栄光のゆえに、その顔を見つめることができなかったとすれば、
(But if the ministry of death, in letters, graven in stones, began with glory, so that the children of Israel could not fix their eyes on the face of Moses, on account of the glory of his face, [a glory] which is annulled;
8 まして霊の務は、はるかに栄光あるものではなかろうか。
how shall not rather the ministry of the Spirit subsist in glory?
9 もし罪を宣告する務が栄光あるものだとすれば、義を宣告する務は、はるかに栄光に満ちたものである。
For if the ministry of condemnation [be] glory, much rather the ministry of righteousness abounds in glory.
10 そして、すでに栄光を受けたものも、この場合、はるかにまさった栄光のまえに、その栄光を失ったのである。
For also that [which was] glorified is not glorified in this respect, on account of the surpassing glory.
11 もし消え去るべきものが栄光をもって現れたのなら、まして永存すべきものは、もっと栄光のあるべきものである。
For if that annulled [was introduced] with glory, much rather that which abides [subsists] in glory.
12 こうした望みをいだいているので、わたしたちは思いきって大胆に語り、
Having therefore such hope, we use much boldness:
13 そしてモーセが、消え去っていくものの最後をイスラエルの子らに見られまいとして、顔におおいをかけたようなことはしない。
and not according as Moses put a veil on his own face, so that the children of Israel should not fix their eyes on the end of that annulled.
14 実際、彼らの思いは鈍くなっていた。今日に至るまで、彼らが古い契約を朗読する場合、その同じおおいが取り去られないままで残っている。それは、キリストにあってはじめて取り除かれるのである。
But their thoughts have been darkened, for unto this day the same veil remains in reading the old covenant, unremoved, which in Christ is annulled.
15 今日に至るもなお、モーセの書が朗読されるたびに、おおいが彼らの心にかかっている。
But unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil lies upon their heart.
16 しかし主に向く時には、そのおおいは取り除かれる。
But when it shall turn to [the] Lord, the veil is taken away.)
17 主は霊である。そして、主の霊のあるところには、自由がある。
Now the Lord is the Spirit, but where the Spirit of [the] Lord [is, there is] liberty.
18 わたしたちはみな、顔おおいなしに、主の栄光を鏡に映すように見つつ、栄光から栄光へと、主と同じ姿に変えられていく。これは霊なる主の働きによるのである。
But we all, looking on the glory of the Lord, with unveiled face, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, even as by [the] Lord [the] Spirit.
