ヨハネの手紙第一 5
1 すべてイエスのキリストであることを信じる者は、神から生れた者である。すべて生んで下さったかたを愛する者は、そのかたから生れた者をも愛するのである。
EVERY one who believeth that Jesus is the Messiah, is born of God; and every one who loveth him that begat, loveth him also who is begotten by him.
2 神を愛してその戒めを行えば、それによってわたしたちは、神の子たちを愛していることを知るのである。
Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 神を愛するとは、すなわち、その戒めを守ることである。そして、その戒めはむずかしいものではない。
For this is the love of God, that we should keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome.
4 なぜなら、すべて神から生れた者は、世に勝つからである。そして、わたしたちの信仰こそ、世に勝たしめた勝利の力である。
Because every one that is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith.
5 世に勝つ者はだれか。イエスを神の子と信じる者ではないか。
Who is he that overcometh the world, except he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 このイエス・キリストは、水と血とをとおってこられたかたである。水によるだけではなく、水と血とによってこられたのである。そのあかしをするものは、御霊である。御霊は真理だからである。
This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus the Messiah; not by the water only, but by the water and the blood: and the Spirit is the witnessing person, because the Spirit is the truth.
7 あかしをするものが、三つある。
For they are three who bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these, even the three, are one.
8 御霊と水と血とである。そして、この三つのものは一致する。
And there are three which bear witness upon earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood, and the three are for the same one object.
9 わたしたちは人間のあかしを受けいれるが、しかし、神のあかしはさらにまさっている。神のあかしというのは、すなわち、御子について立てられたあかしである。
If we receive the testimony of man, the testimony of God is stronger: for this is the testimony of God which he testified concerning his Son.
10 神の子を信じる者は、自分のうちにこのあかしを持っている。神を信じない者は、神を偽り者とする。神が御子についてあかしせられたそのあかしを、信じていないからである。
He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the testimony in himself; he that believeth not God, hath made him a liar, because he hath not believed on the testimony which God testified of his Son.
And this is the testimony, that God hath given life eternal to us; and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
12 御子を持つ者はいのちを持ち、神の御子を持たない者はいのちを持っていない。
He that hath the Son, hath this life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not this life.
These things have I written to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have life eternal, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
14 わたしたちが神に対していだいている確信は、こうである。すなわち、わたしたちが何事でも神の御旨に従って願い求めるなら、神はそれを聞きいれて下さるということである。
And this is the confidence that we have towards him, that whatsoever we ask according to his will, he heareth us.
15 そして、わたしたちが願い求めることは、なんでも聞きいれて下さるとわかれば、神に願い求めたことはすでにかなえられたことを、知るのである。
And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we receive the petitions, which we have requested, from him.
16 もしだれかが死に至ることのない罪を犯している兄弟を見たら、神に願い求めなさい。そうすれば神は、死に至ることのない罪を犯している人々には、いのちを賜わるであろう。死に至る罪がある。これについては、願い求めよ、とは言わない。
If any person see his brother committing a sin not unto death, he shall request, and God will grant him life for those that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I say not that he should request for that.
17 不義はすべて、罪である。しかし、死に至ることのない罪もある。
All unrighteousness is sin; and there is sin not unto death.
18 すべて神から生れた者は罪を犯さないことを、わたしたちは知っている。神から生れたかたが彼を守っていて下さるので、悪しき者が手を触れるようなことはない。
We know that every one who is born of God sinneth not; but he that is born of God preserveth himself, and the wicked one toucheth him not.
19 また、わたしたちは神から出た者であり、全世界は悪しき者の配下にあることを、知っている。
We know that we are of God, and the whole world is under the power of that wicked one.
20 さらに、神の子がきて、真実なかたを知る知力をわたしたちに授けて下さったことも、知っている。そして、わたしたちは、真実なかたにおり、御子イエス・キリストにおるのである。このかたは真実な神であり、永遠のいのちである。 (aiōnios g166)
But we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given to us understanding, that we might know the true God; and we are in him that is true, in his Son Jesus the Messiah. HE is the true God, and the life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
21 子たちよ。気をつけて、偶像を避けなさい。
My dear children, guard yourselves against idols. Amen.
