コリント人への手紙第一 1
1 神の御旨により召されてキリスト・イエスの使徒となったパウロと、兄弟ソステネから、
Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
2 コリントにある神の教会、すなわち、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの御名を至る所で呼び求めているすべての人々と共に、キリスト・イエスにあってきよめられ、聖徒として召されたかたがたへ。このキリストは、わたしたちの主であり、また彼らの主であられる。
to the assembly of God which is at Corinth—those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:
3 わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 わたしは、あなたがたがキリスト・イエスにあって与えられた神の恵みを思って、いつも神に感謝している。
I always thank my God concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,
5 あなたがたはキリストにあって、すべてのことに、すなわち、すべての言葉にもすべての知識にも恵まれ、
that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge—
6 キリストのためのあかしが、あなたがたのうちに確かなものとされ、
even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you—
7 こうして、あなたがたは恵みの賜物にいささかも欠けることがなく、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの現れるのを待ち望んでいる。
so that you come behind in no gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8 主もまた、あなたがたを最後まで堅くささえて、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの日に、責められるところのない者にして下さるであろう。
who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 神は真実なかたである。あなたがたは神によって召され、御子、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストとの交わりに、はいらせていただいたのである。
God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 さて兄弟たちよ。わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの名によって、あなたがたに勧める。みな語ることを一つにし、お互の間に分争がないようにし、同じ心、同じ思いになって、堅く結び合っていてほしい。
Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11 わたしの兄弟たちよ。実は、クロエの家の者たちから、あなたがたの間に争いがあると聞かされている。
For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
12 はっきり言うと、あなたがたがそれぞれ、「わたしはパウロにつく」「わたしはアポロに」「わたしはケパに」「わたしはキリストに」と言い合っていることである。
Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.”
13 キリストは、いくつにも分けられたのか。パウロは、あなたがたのために十字架につけられたことがあるのか。それとも、あなたがたは、パウロの名によってバプテスマを受けたのか。
Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?
14 わたしは感謝しているが、クリスポとガイオ以外には、あなたがたのうちのだれにも、バプテスマを授けたことがない。
I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 それはあなたがたがわたしの名によってバプテスマを受けたのだと、だれにも言われることのないためである。
so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.
16 もっとも、ステパナの家の者たちには、バプテスマを授けたことがある。しかし、そのほかには、だれにも授けた覚えがない。
(I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I do not know whether I baptized any other.)
17 いったい、キリストがわたしをつかわされたのは、バプテスマを授けるためではなく、福音を宣べ伝えるためであり、しかも知恵の言葉を用いずに宣べ伝えるためであった。それは、キリストの十字架が無力なものになってしまわないためなのである。
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.
18 十字架の言は、滅び行く者には愚かであるが、救にあずかるわたしたちには、神の力である。
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 すなわち、聖書に、「わたしは知者の知恵を滅ぼし、賢い者の賢さをむなしいものにする」と書いてある。
For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.”
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age (aiōn g165)? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 この世は、自分の知恵によって神を認めるに至らなかった。それは、神の知恵にかなっている。そこで神は、宣教の愚かさによって、信じる者を救うこととされたのである。
For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.
22 ユダヤ人はしるしを請い、ギリシヤ人は知恵を求める。
For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,
23 しかしわたしたちは、十字架につけられたキリストを宣べ伝える。このキリストは、ユダヤ人にはつまずかせるもの、異邦人には愚かなものであるが、
but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,
24 召された者自身にとっては、ユダヤ人にもギリシヤ人にも、神の力、神の知恵たるキリストなのである。
but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;
25 神の愚かさは人よりも賢く、神の弱さは人よりも強いからである。
because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 兄弟たちよ。あなたがたが召された時のことを考えてみるがよい。人間的には、知恵のある者が多くはなく、権力のある者も多くはなく、身分の高い者も多くはいない。
For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;
27 それだのに神は、知者をはずかしめるために、この世の愚かな者を選び、強い者をはずかしめるために、この世の弱い者を選び、
but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong.
28 有力な者を無力な者にするために、この世で身分の低い者や軽んじられている者、すなわち、無きに等しい者を、あえて選ばれたのである。
God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that do not exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist,
29 それは、どんな人間でも、神のみまえに誇ることがないためである。
that no flesh should boast before God.
30 あなたがたがキリスト・イエスにあるのは、神によるのである。キリストは神に立てられて、わたしたちの知恵となり、義と聖とあがないとになられたのである。
Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
31 それは、「誇る者は主を誇れ」と書いてあるとおりである。
that, as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”
