マタイの福音書 16
1 パリサイ人とサドカイ人と來りてイエスを試み、天よりの徴を示さんことを請ふ。
The Pharisees also and the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven.
2 答へて言ひたまふ『夕には汝ら「空あかき故に晴ならん」と言ひ、
He answered and said to them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3 また朝には「そら赤くして曇る故に、今日は風雨ならん」と言ふ。なんぢら空の氣色を見分くることを知りて、時の徴を見分くること能はぬか。
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and threatening. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4 邪曲にして不義なる代は徴を求む、されどヨナの徴の外に徴は與へられじ』かくて彼らを離れて去り給ひぬ。
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
5 弟子たち彼方の岸に到りしに、パンを携ふることを忘れたり。
And when his disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 イエス言ひたまふ『愼みてパリサイ人とサドカイ人とのパン種に心せよ』
Then Jesus said to them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 弟子たち互に『我らはパンを携へざりき』と語り合ふ。
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 イエス之を知りて言ひ給ふ『ああ信仰うすき者よ、何ぞパン無きことを語り合ふか。
Which when Jesus perceived, he said to them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 未だ悟らぬか、五つのパンを五 千 人に分ちて、その餘を幾籃ひろひ、
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 また七つのパンを四千 人に分ちて、その餘を幾籃ひろひしかを覺えぬか。
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11 我が言ひしはパンの事にあらぬを何ぞ悟らざる。唯パリサイ人とサドカイ人とのパンだねに心せよ』
How is it that ye do not understand that I spoke not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 ここに弟子たちイエスの心せよと言ひ給ひしは、パンの種にはあらで、パリサイ人とサドカイ人との教なることを悟れり。
Then they understood that he did not warn them against the leaven of bread, but against the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13 イエス、ピリポ・カイザリヤの地方にいたり、弟子たちに問ひて言ひたまふ『人々は人の子を誰と言ふか』
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 彼 等いふ『或 人はバプテスマのヨハネ、或 人はエリヤ、或 人はエレミヤ、また預言者の一人』
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
15 彼らに言ひたまふ『なんぢらは我を誰と言ふか』
He saith to them, But who say ye that I am?
16 シモン・ペテロ答へて言ふ『なんぢはキリスト、活ける神の子なり』
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 イエス答へて言ひ給ふ『バルヨナ・シモン、汝は幸福なり、汝に之を示したるは血肉にあらず、天にいます我が父なり。
And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
And I say also to thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
19 われ天國の鍵を汝に與へん、凡そ汝が地にて縛ぐ所は天にても縛ぎ、地にて解く所は天にても解くなり』
And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 ここにイエス、己がキリストなる事を誰にも告ぐなと、弟子たちを戒め給へり。
Then he charged his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 この時よりイエス・キリスト、弟子たちに、己のエルサレムに往きて、長老・祭司長・學者らより多くの苦難を受け、かつ殺され、三日めに甦へるべき事を示し始めたまふ。
From that time forth Jesus began to show to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 ペテロ、イエスを傍にひき戒め出でて言ふ『主よ、然あらざれ、此の事なんぢに起らざるべし』
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be to thee.
23 イエス振反りてペテロに言ひ給ふ『サタンよ、我が後に退け、汝はわが躓物なり、汝は神のことを思はず、反つて人のことを思ふ』
But he turned, and said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things that are of God, but those that are of men.
24 ここにイエス弟子たちに言ひたまふ『人もし我に從ひ來らんと思はば、己をすて、己が十字架を負ひて、我に從へ。
Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 己が生命を救はんと思ふ者は、これを失ひ、我がために己が生命をうしなふ者は、之を得べし。
For whoever will save his life shall lose it: and whoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 人、全世界を贏くとも、己が生命を損せば、何の益あらん、又その生命の代に何を與へんや。
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 人の子は父の榮光をもて、御使たちと共に來らん。その時おのおのの行爲に隨ひて報ゆべし。
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28 まことに汝らに告ぐ、ここに立つ者のうちに、人の子のその國をもて來るを見るまでは、死を味はぬ者どもあり』
Verily I say to you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they shall see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
