ヨハネの福音書 7
1 この後イエス、ガリラヤのうちを巡りゐ給ふ、ユダヤ人の殺さんとするに因りて、ユダヤのうちを巡ることを欲し給はぬなり。
After these things Jesus resided in Galilee: for He would not appear in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
2 ユダヤ人の假廬の祭ちかづきたれば、
Now the Jews feast called the feast of tabernacles was near;
3 兄弟たちイエスに言ふ『なんぢの行ふ業を弟子たちにも見せんために、此處を去りてユダヤに往け。
his brethren therefore said, Depart from hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples there also may see the works which thou performest.
4 誰にても自ら顯れんことを求めて、隱に業をなす者なし。汝これらの事を爲すからには、己を世にあらはせ』
For no man doth any thing in secret, who is himself desirous to be known in public. As thou dost these wonderful things, make thyself known to the world.
5 是その兄弟たちもイエスを信ぜぬ故なり。
For neither did his brethren believe in Him.
6 ここにイエス言ひ給ふ『わが時はいまだ到らず、汝らの時は常に備れり。
Then saith Jesus unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always alike ready; for the world cannot hate you:
7 世は汝らを憎むこと能はねど我を憎む、我は世の所作の惡しきを證すればなり。
but me it hates, because I bear my testimony concerning it, that it's deeds are evil.
8 なんぢら祭に上れ、わが時いまだ滿たねば、我は今この祭にのぼらず』
Go ye up to this feast as soon as ye please; for I am not yet going up to it, because my time is not yet fully come.
9 かく言ひて尚ガリラヤに留り給ふ。
And after He had said these things unto them, He stayed a while in Galilee.
10 而して兄弟たちの祭にのぼりたる後、あらはならで潜びやかに上り給ふ。
But when his brethren were gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not in a public manner but as it were in private.
11 祭にあたりユダヤ人らイエスを尋ねて『かれは何處に居るか』と言ふ。
The Jews therefore sought for Him at the feast, and said, Where is He?
12 また群衆のうちに囁く者おほくありて、或は『イエスは善き人なり』といひ、或は『いな、群衆を惑すなり』と言ふ。
And there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him: for some said, He is a good man; others said, No: He deceiveth the people.
13 されどユダヤ人を懼るるに因りて、誰もイエスのことを公然に言はず。
No one however spake openly in favor of Him, for fear of the Jews.
14 祭も、はや半となりし頃、イエス宮にのぼりて教へ給へば、
But when it was now about the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 ユダヤ人あやしみて言ふ『この人は學びし事なきに、如何にして書を知るか』
And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, who never learnt?
16 イエス答へて言ひ給ふ『わが教はわが教にあらず、我を遣し給ひし者の教なり。
Jesus answered them and said, The doctrine that I teach is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 人もし御意を行はんと欲せば、此の教の神よりか、我が己より語るかを知らん。
If any man desire to do his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 己より語るものは己の榮光をもとむ、己を遣しし者の榮光を求むる者は眞なり、その中に不義なし。
He, that speaketh from himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of Him that sent him is true, and there is no imposture in him.
19 モーセは汝らに律法を與へしにあらずや、されど汝 等のうちに律法を守る者なし。汝ら何ゆゑ我を殺さんとするか』
Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you observeth the law? wherefore else do ye seek to kill me?
20 群衆こたふ『なんぢは惡鬼に憑かれたり、誰が汝を殺さんとするぞ』
The people answered and said, Thou art possessed by a demon: who seeketh to kill thee?
21 イエス答へて言ひ給ふ『われ一つの業をなしたれば、汝 等みな怪しめり。
Jesus answered and said unto them, I performed one miracle on the sabbath, and ye are all amazed at it.
22 モーセは汝らに割禮を命じたり（これはモーセより起りしとにあらず、先祖より起りしなり）この故に汝ら安息 日にも人に割禮を施す。
Now Moses gave you the law of circumcision, (not that it is originally from Moses, but from the patriarchs, ) and ye circumcise even on the sabbath:
23 モーセの律法の廢らぬために、安息 日に人の割禮を受くる事あらば、何ぞ安息 日に人の全身を健かにせしとて我を怒るか。
if then a man receive circumcision on the sabbath-day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are ye angry with me, because I made a man perfectly well on the sabbath-day?
24 外貌によりて裁くな、正しき審判にて審け』
Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement.
25 ここにエルサレムの或 人々いふ『これは人々の殺さんとする者ならずや。
Therefore some of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this He whom they seek to put to death?
26 視よ、公然に語るに、之に對して何をも言ふ者なし、司たちは此の人のキリストたるを眞に認めしならんか。
and here He talketh openly, and they say nothing to Him: Do the rulers indeed know, that this is in truth the Messiah?
27 されど我らは此の人の何處よりかを知る、キリストの來る時には、その何處よりかを知る者なし』
But we know whence this man is; whereas when Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence He is.
28 ここにイエス宮にて教へつつ呼はりて言ひ給ふ『なんぢら我を知り、亦わが何處よりかを知る。されど我は己より來るにあらず、眞の者ありて我を遣し給へり。汝らは彼を知らず、
Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29 我は彼を知る。我は彼より出で、彼は我を遣し給ひしに因りてなり』
But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He hath sent me.
30 ここに人々イエスを捕へんと謀りたれど、彼の時いまだ到らぬ故に手出する者なかりき。
They sought therefore to seize Him, but no one laid hand on Him, because his hour was not yet come.
31 かくて群衆のうち多くの人々イエスを信じて『キリスト來るとも、此の人の行ひしより多く徴を行はんや』と言ふ。
And many of the people believed on Him, and said, When the Messiah cometh, will He do more miracles than this man hath done?
32 イエスにつきて群衆のかく囁くことパリサイ人の耳に入りたれば、祭司長・パリサイ人ら彼を捕へんとて下役どもを遣ししに、
Now the pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him: and they, with the chief priests, sent officers to seize Him.
33 イエス言ひ給ふ『我なほ暫く汝らと偕に居り、而してのち我を遣し給ひし者の御許に往く。
Therefore Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I am to be among you, and then I shall go to Him that sent me.
34 汝ら我を尋ねん、されど逢はざるべし、汝 等わが居る處に往くこと能はず』
Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come.
35 ここにユダヤ人ら互に云ふ『この人われらの逢ひ得ぬいづこに往かんとするか、ギリシヤ人のうちに散りをる者に往きて、ギリシヤ人を教へんとするか。
Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will He go, that we shall not find Him? will He go to them that are dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36 その言に「なんぢら我を尋ねん、然れど逢はざるべし、汝ら我がをる處に往くこと能はず」と云へるは何ぞや』
What is the meaning of this speech, that He said, "Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come?"
37 祭の終の大なる日に、イエス立ちて呼はりて言ひたまふ『人もし渇かば我に來りて飮め。
And on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any one thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
38 我を信ずる者は、聖書に云へるごとく、その腹より活ける水、川となりて流れ出づべし』
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, rivers of living water shall flow from within him.
39 これは彼を信ずる者の受けんとする御靈を指して言ひ給ひしなり。イエス未だ榮光を受け給はざれば、御靈いまだ降らざりしなり。
(This He spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive; for the holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 此 等の言をききて群衆のうちの或 人は『これ眞にかの預言者なり』といひ、
Many of the people therefore, when they heard this discourse, said, This is in truth a prophet.
41 或 人は『これキリストなり』と言ひ、又ある人は『キリストいかでガリラヤより出でんや、
Others said, This is the Messiah. But some said, Shall the Messiah come out of Galilee?
42 聖書に、キリストはダビデの裔またダビデの居りし村ベツレヘムより出づと云へるならずや』と言ふ。
Hath not the Scripture said, that Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town whence David was.
43 斯くイエスの事によりて、群衆のうちに紛爭おこりたり。
So there was a division among the people about Him.
44 その中には、イエスを捕へんと欲する者もありしが、手出する者なかりき。
And some among them would have seized Him: but no one laid hands on Him.
45 而して下役ども、祭司長・パリサイ人らの許に歸りたれば、彼ら問ふ『なに故かれを曳き來らぬか』
Then came the officers to the chief priests and pharisees, and they said, Why have ye not brought Him? and the officers answered,
46 下役ども答ふ『この人の語るごとく語りし人は未だなし』
Never man spake like this man.
47 パリサイ人 等これに答ふ『なんぢらも惑されしか、
The pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?
48 司たち又はパリサイ人のうちに、一人だに彼を信ぜし者ありや、
have any of the rulers believed on Him, or of the pharisees?
49 律法を知らぬこの群衆は詛はれたる者なり』
but these people, who know not the law, are cursed.
50 彼 等のうちの一人にてさきにイエスの許に來りしニコデモ言ふ、
Upon this Nicodemus, (who came to Him by night)
51 『われらの律法は、先その人に聽き、その爲すところを知るにあらずば、審く事をせんや』
being one of them, saith to them, Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he hath done?
52 かれら答へて言ふ『なんぢもガリラヤより出でしか、査べ見よ、預言者はガリラヤより起る事なし』
They replied, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
53 ［斯くておのおの己が家に歸れり。
And every man went to his own house.
