ヨブ 記 9
1 ヨブこたへて言けるは
Then Job answered and said,
2 我まことに其事の然るを知り 人いかでか神の前に義かるべけん
I know it to be so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
3 よし人は神と辨爭はんとするとも千の一も答ふること能はざるべし
If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one time out of a thousand.
4 神は心慧く力強くましますなり 誰か神に逆ひてその身安からんや
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
5 彼山を移したまふに山しらず 彼震怒をもて之を飜倒したまふ
Who removeth the mountains, and they know not: who overturneth them in his anger.
6 彼地を震ひてその所を離れしめたまへばその柱ゆるぐ
Who shaketh the earth out of its place, and its pillars tremble.
7 日に命じたまへば日いでず 又星辰を封じたまふ
Who commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
8 唯かれ獨天を張り海の濤を覆たまふ
Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
9 また北斗參宿昴宿および南方の密室を造りたまふ
Who maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
10 大なる事を行ひたまふこと測られず奇しき業を爲たまふこと數しれず
Who doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
11 視よ彼わが前を過たまふ 然るに我これを見ず彼すすみゆき賜ふ然るに我之を曉ず
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
12 彼奪ひ去賜ふ 誰か能之を沮まん 誰か之に汝何を爲やと言ことを得爲ん
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say to him, What doest thou?
13 神其震怒を息賜はず ラハブを助る者等之が下に屈む
If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
14 然ば我爭か彼に回答を爲ことを得ん 爭われ言を選びて彼と論ふ事をえんや
How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
15 假令われ義かるとも彼に回答をせじ 彼は我を審判く者なれば我彼に哀き求ん
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
16 假令我彼を呼て彼われに答たまふともわが言を聽いれ賜ひしとは我信ぜざるなり
If I had called, and he had answered me; yet I would not believe that he had hearkened to my voice.
17 彼は大風をもて我を撃碎き 故なくして我に衆多の傷を負せ
For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
18 我に息をつかさしめず 苦き事をもて我身に充せ賜ふ
He will not allow me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
19 強き者の力量を言んか 視よ此にあり 審判の事ならんか 誰か我を喚出すことを得爲ん
If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
20 假令われ義かるとも我口われを惡しと爲ん 假令われ完全かるとも尚われを罪ありとせん
If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, that also shall prove me perverse.
21 我は全し 然ども我はわが心を知ず 我生命を賤む
Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
22 皆同一なり 故に我は言ふ神は完全者と惡者とを等しく滅したまふと
This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
23 災禍の俄然に人を誅す如き事あれば彼は辜なき者の苦痛を笑ひ見たまふ
If the scourge shall slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
24 世は惡き者の手に交されてあり 彼またその裁判人の面を蔽ひたまふ 若彼ならずば是誰の行爲なるや
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of its judges; if not, where, and who is he?
25 わが日は驛使よりも迅く 徒に過さりて福祉を見ず
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
26 其はしること葦舟のごとく 物を攫まんとて飛かける鷲のごとし
They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.
27 たとひ我わが愁を忘れ面色を改めて笑ひをらんと思ふとも
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will put off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
28 尚この諸の苦痛のために戰慄くなり 我思ふに汝われを釋し放ちたまはざらん
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
29 我は罪ありとせらるるなれば何ぞ徒然に勞すべけんや
If I am wicked, why then do I labour in vain?
30 われ雪水をもて身を洗ひ 灰汁をもて手を潔むるとも
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
31 汝われを汚はしき穴の中に陷いれたまはん 而して我衣も我を厭ふにいたらん
Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and my own clothes shall abhor me.
32 神は我のごとく人にあらざれば我かれに答ふべからず 我ら二箇して共に裁判に臨むべからず
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
33 また我らの間には我ら二箇の上に手を置べき仲保あらず
Neither is there any mediator between us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
34 願くは彼その杖を我より取はなし その震怒をもて我を懼れしめたまはざれ
Let him take away his rod from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
35 然らば我 言語て彼を畏れざらん 其は我みづから斯る者と思はざればなり
Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
