ヨブ 記 39
1 なんぢ岩間の山羊が子を產む時をしるや また麀鹿の產に臨むを見しや
Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [or] canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2 なんぢ是等の在胎の月を數へうるや また是等が產む時を知るや
Canst thou number the months [that] they fulfill? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3 これらは身を鞠めて子を產みその痛苦を出す
They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4 またその子は強くなりて野に育ち 出ゆきて再たびその親にかへらず
Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not to them.
5 誰が野驢馬を放ちて自由にせしや 誰が野驢馬の繋繩を解しや
Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6 われ野をその家となし 荒野をその住所となせり
Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7 是は邑の喧閙を賤しめ 馭者の號呼を聽いれず
He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
8 山を走まはりて草を食ひ 各種の靑き物を尋ぬ
The range of the mountains [is] his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9 兕肯て汝に事へ なんぢの飼草槽の傍にとどまらんや
Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
10 なんぢ兕に綱附て阡陌をあるかせ得んや 是あに汝にしたがひて谷に馬鈀を牽んや
Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11 その力おほいなればとて汝これに恃まんや またなんぢの工事をこれに任せんや
Wilt thou trust him, because his strength [is] great? or wilt thou leave thy labor to him?
12 なんぢこれにたよりて己が穀物を運びかへらせ之を打禾塲にあつめしめんや
Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather [it into] thy barn?
13 駝鳥は歡然にその翼を皷ふ 然どもその羽と毛とはあに鶴にしかんや
[Gavest thou] the goodly wings to the peacocks? or wings and feathers to the ostrich!
14 是はその卵を土の中に棄おき これを砂の中にて暖たまらしめ
Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in the dust,
15 足にてその潰さるべきと 野の獸のこれを踐むべきとを思はず
And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16 これはその子に情なくして宛然おのれの子ならざるが如くし その劬勞の空しくなるも繋念ところ無し
She is hardened against her young ones, as though [they were] not hers: her labor is in vain without fear;
17 是は神これに智慧を授けず穎悟を與へざるが故なり
Because God hath withheld wisdom from her, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18 その身をおこして走るにおいては馬をもその騎手をも嘲けるべし
When she lifteth herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
19 なんぢ馬に力を與へしや その頸に勇ましき鬣を粧ひしや
Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
20 なんぢ之を蝗蟲のごとく飛しむるや その嘶なく聲の響は畏るべし
Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils [is] terrible.
21 谷を踋爬て力に誇り 自ら進みて兵士に向ふ
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in [his] strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
22 懼るることを笑ひて驚ろくところ無く 劍にむかふとも退ぞかず
He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
23 矢筒その上に鳴り 鎗に矛あひきらめく
The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24 猛りつ狂ひつ地を一呑にし 喇叭の聲鳴わたるも立どまる事なし
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that [it is] the sound of the trumpet.
25 喇叭の鳴ごとにハーハーと言ひ遠方より戰鬪を嗅つけ 將帥の大聲および吶喊聲を聞しる
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 鷹の飛かけり その羽翼を舒て南に向ふは豈なんぢの智慧によるならんや
Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, [and] stretch her wings towards the south?
27 鷲の翔のぼり 高き處に巣を營なむは豈なんぢの命令に依んや
Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
28 これは岩の上に住所を構へ 岩の尖所または峻險き所に居り
She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29 其處よりして攫むべき物をうかがふ その目のおよぶところ遠し
From thence she seeketh the prey, [and] her eyes behold afar off.
30 その子等もまた血を吸ふ 凡そ殺されし者のあるところには是そこに在り
Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain [are], there [is] she.
