ヨブ 記 35

1 エリフまた答へて曰く

Elihu spoke moreover, and said,

2 なんぢは言ふ 我が義しきは神に愈れりと なんぢ之を正しとおもふや

Thinkest thou this to be right, [that] thou saidst, My righteousness [is] more than God's?

3 すなはち汝いへらく 是は我に何の益あらんや 罪を犯すに較ぶれば何の愈るところか有んと

For thou saidst, What advantage will it be to thee? [and], What profit shall I have, [if I be cleansed] from my sin?

4 われ言詞をもて汝およびなんぢにそへる汝の友等に答へん

I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

5 天を仰ぎて見よ 汝の上なる高き空を望め

Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds [which] are higher than thou.

6 なんぢ罪を犯すとも神に何の害か有ん 愆を熾んにするとも神に何を爲えんや

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or [if] thy transgressions are multiplied, what doest thou to him?

7 汝正義かるとも神に何を與るを得んや 神なんぢの手より何をか受たまはん

If thou art righteous, what givest thou to him? or what receiveth he from thy hand?

8 なんぢの惡は只なんぢに同じき人を損ぜん而已 なんぢの善は只人の子を益せんのみ

Thy wickedness [may hurt] a man as thou [art]: and thy righteousness [may profit] the son of man.

9 暴虐の甚だしきに因て叫び 權勢ある者の腕に壓れて呼はる人々あり

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make [the oppressed] to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

10 然れども一人として我を造れる神は何處にいますやといふ者なし 彼は人をして夜の中に歌を歌ふに至らしめ

But none saith, Where [is] God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

11 地の獸畜よりも善くわれらを敎へ 空の鳥よりも我らを智からしめたまふ者なり

Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

12 惡き者等の驕傲ぶるに因て斯のごとく人々叫べども應ふる者あらず

There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

13 虚しき語は神かならず之を聽たまはず 全能者これを顧みたまはじ

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

14 汝は我かれを見たてまつらずと言といへども審判は神の前にあり この故に汝彼を待べきなり

Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, [yet] judgment [is] before him; therefore trust thou in him.

15 今かれ震怒をもて罰することを爲ず 罪愆を深く心に留たまはざる(が如くなる)に因て

But now, because [it is] not [so], he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth [it] not in great extremity:

16 ヨブ口を啓きて虚しき事を述べ無知の言語を繁くす

Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
