エレミヤ書 47

1 パロがガザを撃ざりし先にペリシテ人の事につきて預言者ヱレミヤに臨みしヱホバの言

The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh smote Gaza.

2 ヱホバかくいひたまふ視よ水北より起り溢れながれて此地と其中の諸の物とその邑と其中に住る者とに溢れかかるべしその時人衆は叫びこの地に住る者は皆哭くべし

Thus says Jehovah: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. And the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail

3 その逞しき馬の蹄の蹴たつる音のため其車の響のため其輪の轟のために父は手弱りて己の子女を顧みざるなり

at the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels. The fathers do not look back to their sons for feebleness of hands,

4 是ペリシテ人を滅しつくしツロとシドンにのこりて助力をなす者を悉く絕す日來ればなりヱホバ、カフトルの地に遺れるペリシテ人を滅したまふべし

because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains. For Jehovah will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

5 ガザには髮を剃るの事はじまるアシケロンと其剩餘の平地は滅ぼさる汝いつまで身に傷くるや

Baldness has come upon Gaza. Ashkelon is brought to naught, the remnant of their valley. How long will thou cut thyself?

6 ヱホバの劍よ汝いつまで息まざるや汝の鞘に歸りて息み靜まれ

O thou sword of Jehovah, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? Put up thyself into thy scabbard. Rest, and be still.

7 ヱホバこれに命じたるなればいかで息むことをえんやアシケロンと海邊を攻ることを定めたまへり

How can thou be quiet, since Jehovah has given thee a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea-shore. He has appointed it there.
