創世記 29
1 斯てヤコブ其途にすすみて東の民の地にいたりて
Then Jacob lifted up his feet, —and went his way towards the land of the sons of the East.
2 見るに野に井ありて羊の群三其傍に臥ゐたり此井より群に飮へばなり大なる石井の口にあり
And he looked, and lo! a well, in the field and lo! there, three flocks of sheep, lying down near it, for out of that well, do they water the flocks, but, the stone, is great, on the mouth of the well:
3 羊の群皆其處に集る時に井の口より石をまろばして羊に水飼ひ復故のごとく井の口に石をのせおくなり
so they gather together thither all the flocks, and roll away the stone from off the mouth of the well, and water the sheep, —and put back the stone upon the mouth of the well, to its place.
4 ヤコブ人々に言けるは兄弟よ奚よりきたれるや彼等いふ我等はハランより來る
And Jacob said to them, My brethren, whence are ye? And they said: From haran, are we.
5 ヤコブ彼等にいひけるは汝等ナホルの子ラバンをしるや彼等識といふ
And he said to them, Know ye Laban, son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.
6 ヤコブ又かれらにいひけるは彼は安きや彼等いふ安し視よ彼の女ラケル羊と偕に來ると
And he said to them, Is it well with him? And they said, Well, but lo! Rachel his daughter, coming in with the sheep.
7 ヤコブ言ふ視よ日尚高し家畜を聚むべき時にあらず羊に飮ひて往て牧せよ
And he said Lo! the day is yet high, it is not time for gathering together the cattle, —water the sheep, and go feed.
8 彼等いふ我等しかする能はず群の皆聚るに及て井の口より石をまろばして羊に飮ふべきなり
And they said, We cannot, until that all the flocks are gathered together, and they roll away the stone, from off the mouth of the well, —and then can we water the sheep.
9 ヤコブ尚彼等と語れる時にラケル父の羊とともに來る其は之を牧居たればなり
While yet he was speaking with them, Rachel, had come in with the sheep which belonged to her father, for a shepherdess, was she.
10 ヤコブ其母の兄ラバンの女ラケルおよび其母の兄ラバンの羊を見しかばヤコブ進みよりて井の口より石をまろばし母の兄ラバンの羊に飮ひたり
And it came to pass when Jacob saw Rachel daughter of Laban, his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled away the stone from off the mouth of the well, and watered the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother,
11 而してヤコブ、ラケルに接吻して聲をあげて啼哭ぬ
And Jacob kissed Rachel, —and lifted up his voice, and wept.
12 即ちヤコブ、ラケルに己はその父の兄弟にしてリベカの子なることを告ければ彼はしりゆきて父に告たり
And when Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s brother, and that he was Rebekah’s son, then ran she, and told her father.
13 ラバン其妹の子ヤコブの事を聞しかば趨ゆきて之を迎へ之を抱きて接吻し之を家に導きいたれりヤコブすなはち此等の事を悉くラバンに述たり
And it came to pass when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fondly kissed him, and brought him into his house, —when he recounted to Laban all these things.
14 ラバン彼にいひけるは汝は誠にわが骨肉なりとヤコブ一月の間彼とともに居る
And Laban said to him, Surely, my bone and my flesh, art thou. So he abode with him a month of days.
15 茲にラバン、ヤコブにいひけるは汝はわが兄弟なればとて空く我に役事べけんや何の報酬を望むや我に告よ
Then said Laban to Jacob, Is it because my brother, thou art, that thou shouldst serve me for naught? Come tell me! What shall be thy wages?
16 ラバン二人の女子を有り姉の名はレアといひ妹の名はラケルといふ
Now, Laban, had two daughters, —the name of the elder, Leah, and the name of the younger, Rachel,
17 レアは目弱かりしがラケルは美くして姝し
But, the eyes of Leah were weak, —whereas, Rachel, was comely in form and comely in countenance.
18 ヤコブ、ラケルを愛したれば言ふ我汝の季女ラケルのために七年汝に事ん
So Jacob loved Rachel, —and he said, I will serve thee seven years, for Rachel thy younger daughter.
19 ラバンいひけるは彼を他の人にあたふるよりも汝にあたふるは善し我と偕に居れ
And Laban said, Better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man, —Abide with me!
20 ヤコブ七年の間ラケルのために勤たりしが彼を愛するが爲に此を數日の如く見做り
So Jacob served for Rachel—seven years, —and they became, in his eyes, as single days, for his love to her.
21 茲にヤコブ、ラバンに言けるはわが期滿たればわが妻をあたへて我をしてかれの處にいることを得せしめよ
Then said Jacob unto Laban: Come give me my wife, for fulfilled are my days, —that I may go in unto her.
22 是に於てラバン處の人を盡く集めて酒宴を設けたりしが
So Laban gathered together all the men of the place and made a banquet,
23 晩に及びて其女レアを携へて此をヤコブにつれ來れりヤコブ即ち彼の處にいりぬ
And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter and brought her in unto him, —and he went in unto her.
24 ラバンまた其侍婢ジルパを娘レアに與へて侍婢となさしめたり
And Laban gave her Zilpah, his handmaid, unto Leah his daughter. as handmaid.
25 朝にいたりて見るにレアなりしかばヤコブ、ラバンに言けるは汝なんぞ此事を我になしたるや我ラケルのために汝に役事しにあらずや汝なんぞ我を欺くや
And it came to pass in the morning, that lo! it was Leah, —and he said unto Laban, What is this thou hast done to me? Was it not, for Rachel, I served with thee? Wherefore then hast thou deceived me?
26 ラバンいひけるは姉より先に妹を嫁しむる事は我國にて爲ざるところなり
And Laban said, It must not be done so in our place, —to give the later-born before the firstborn.
27 其七日を過せ我等是をも汝に與へん然ば汝是がために尚七年我に事へて勤むべし
Fulfil the week of this one, —then must we give thee, the other one also, for the service wherewith thou shalt serve with me, yet seven years more.
28 ヤコブ即ち斯なして其七日をすごせしかばラバン其女ラケルをも之にあたへて妻となさしむ
And Jacob did so, and fulfilled the week of this one, —and he gave him Rachel his daughter—to him to wife.
29 またラバン其侍婢ビルハを女ラケルにあたへて侍婢となさしむ
And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid, —to be hers as a handmaid.
30 ヤコブまたラケルの所にいりぬ彼レアよりもラケルを愛し尚七年ラバンに事たり
So he went in, unto Rachel also, and loved, Rachel also, more than Leah, —and he served with him, yet seven years more.
31 ヱホバ、レアの嫌るるを見て其胎をひらきたまへり然どラケルは姙なきものなりき
And, when Yahweh saw that Leah was hated, he granted her to bear children, —whereas, Rachel, was barren.
32 レア孕みて子を生み其名をルベンと名けていひけるはヱホバ誠にわが艱苦を顧みたまへりされば今夫我を愛せんと
So Leah conceived, and bare a son, and called his name Reuben, —for she said, Because, Yahweh hath looked upon my humiliation, For, now, will my husband love me.
33 彼ふたたび孕みて子を產みヱホバわが嫌るるを聞たまひしによりて我に是をもたまへりと言て其名をシメオンと名けたり
And she conceived again, and bare a son, and said. Because Yahweh heard that, I, was hated, he gave me, this one also. So she called his name Simeon.
34 彼また孕みて子を生み我三人の子を生たれば夫今より我に膠漆んといへり是によりて其名をレビと名けたり
And she conceived again and bare a son, and said, Now—this time, will my husband be bound unto me, For I have borne him three sons, —For this cause, called she his name Levi.
35 彼復姙みて子を生み我今ヱホバを讚美んといへり是によりて其名をユダと名けたり是にいたりて產ことやみぬ
And she conceived again and bare a son, and said This time, will I praise Yahweh, For which cause, she called his name Judah. And she left off bearing.
