使徒の働き 6
1 そのころ弟子のかず増 加はり、ギリシヤ語のユダヤ人、その寡婦らが日々の施濟に漏されたれば、ヘブル語のユダヤ人に對して呟く事あり。
AND in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 ここに十二 使徒すべての弟子を呼び集めて言ふ『われら神の言を差措きて、食卓に事ふるは宣しからず。
Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 然れば兄弟よ、汝らの中より御靈と智慧とにて滿ちたる令聞ある者 七人を見出せ、それに此の事を掌どらせん。
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 我らは專ら祈をなすことと、御言に事ふることとを務めん』
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5 集れる凡ての者この言を善しとし、信仰と聖 靈とにて滿ちたるステパノ及びピリポ、プロコロ、ニカノル、テモン、パルメナ、またアンテオケの改宗者ニコラオを選びて、
And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 使徒たちの前に立てたれば、使徒たち祈りて手をその上に按けり。
Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 かくて神の言ますます弘り、弟子の數エルサレムにて甚だ多くなり、祭司の中にも信仰の道に從へるもの多かりき。
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 さてステパノは恩惠と能力とにて滿ち、民の中に大なる不思議と徴とを行へり。
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9 ここに世に稱ふるリベルテンの會堂およびクレネ人、アレキサンデリヤ人、またキリキヤとアジヤとの人の諸 會堂より、人々 起ちてステパノと論ぜしが、
Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10 その語るところの智慧と御靈とに敵すること能はず。
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11 乃ち或 者どもを唆かして『我らはステパノが、モーセと神とを瀆す言をいふを聞けり』と言はしめ、
Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
12 民および長老・學者らを煽動し、俄に來りてステパノを捕へ、議會に曳きゆき、
And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13 僞證者を立てて言はしむ『この人はこの聖なる所と律法とに逆ふ言を語りて止まず、
And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14 即ち、かのナザレのイエスは此の所を毀ち、かつモーセの傳へし例を變ふべしと、彼が云へるを聞けり』と。
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15 ここに議會に坐したる者みな目を注ぎてステパノを見しに、その顏は御使の顏の如くなりき。
And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
