列王記Ⅱ 6
1 茲に預言者の徒エリシヤに言けるは視よ我儕が汝とともに住ふ所はわれらのために隘し
And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell before thee is too confined for us.
2 請ふ我儕をしてヨルダンに往しめよ我儕おのおの彼處より一の材木を取て其處に我儕の住べき處を設けんエリシヤ往よと言ふ
Let us go, we pray thee, to the Jordan, and every man take a beam from there, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 時にその一人希はくは汝も僕等と共に往けと言ければエリシヤ答へて我ゆかんと言ふ
And one said, Be pleased, I pray thee, to go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 エリシヤかく彼等とともに往り彼等すなはちヨルダンにいたりて樹を砍りたふしけるが
So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 一人の材木を砍りたふすに方りてその斧水におちいりしかば叫びて嗚呼主よ是は乞得たる者なりと言ふ
But as one was felling a beam, the axe-head fell into the water. And he cried, and said, Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.
6 神の人其は何處におちいりしやと言ふにその處をしらせしかば則ち枝を切おとして其處に投いれてその斧を浮ましめ
And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in there, and made the iron to float.
7 汝これを取れと言ければその人手を伸てこれを取り
And he said, Take it up to thee. So he put out his hand, and took it.
8 茲にスリアの王イスラエルと戰ひをりその臣僕と評議して斯々の處に我陣を張んと言たれば
Now the king of Syria was warring against Israel, and he took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
9 神の人イスラエルの王に言おくりけるは汝愼んで某の處を過るなかれ其はスリア人其處に下ればなりと
And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou not pass such a place, for the Syrians are coming down there.
10 イスラエルの王是において神の人が己に告げ己に敎たる處に人を遣して其處に自防しこと一二回に止まらざりき
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of. And he saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 是をもてスリアの王是事のために心をなやましその臣僕を召て我儕の中誰がイスラエルの王と通じをるかを我に告ざるやと言ふに
And the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled for this thing, and he called his servants, and said to them, Will ye not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 その臣僕の一人言ふ王わが主よ然るにあらず但イスラエルの預言者エリシヤ汝が寝室にて語る所の言語をもイスラエルの王に告るなり
And one of his servants said, No, my lord, O king, but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel tells the king of Israel the words that thou speak in thy bedchamber.
13 王いひけるは往て彼が安に居かを見よ我人をやりてこれを執へんと茲に彼はドタンに居ると王に告ていふ者ありければ
And he said, Go and see where he is that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14 王そこに馬と車および大軍をつかはせり彼等すなはち夜の中に來りてその邑を取かこみけるが
Therefore he sent there horses, and chariots, and a great army. And they came by night, and encompassed the city about.
15 神の人の從屬夙に興て出て見に軍勢馬と車をもて邑を取かこみ居ればその少者エリシヤに言けるは嗚呼わが主よ我儕如何にすべきや
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an army with horses and chariots was round about the city. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do?
16 エリシヤ答へけるは懼るなかれ我儕とともにある者は彼等とともにある者よりも多しと
And he answered, Fear not, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
17 ヱリシヤ祈りて願くはヱホバかれの目を開きて見させたまへと言ければヱホバその少者の眼を開きたまへり彼すなはち見るに火の馬と火の車山に盈てエリシヤの四面に在り
And Elisha prayed, and said, Jehovah, I pray thee, open his eyes that he may see. And Jehovah opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 スリア人エリシヤの所に下りいたれる時エリシヤ、ヱホバに祈りて言ふ願くは此人々をして目昏しめたまへと即ちエリシヤの言のごとくにその目を昏しめたまへり
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed to Jehovah, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 是においてエリシヤ彼らに言けるは是はその途にあらず是はその城にもあらず我に從ひて來れ我汝らを汝らが尋ぬる人の所に携ゆかんとて彼等をサマリヤにひき至れり
And Elisha said to them, This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. And he led them to Samaria.
20 彼等がサマリヤに至りし時エリシヤ言けるはヱホバよ此人々の目をひらきて見させたまへと即ちヱホバかれらの目を開きたまひたれば彼等見るにその身はサマリヤの中にあり
And it came to pass, when they came into Samaria, that Elisha said, Jehovah, open the eyes of these men that they may see. And Jehovah opened their eyes, and they saw. And, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
21 イスラエルの王かれらを見てエリシヤに言けるはわが父よ我撃殺すべきや撃殺すべきや
And the king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? Shall I smite them?
22 エリシヤ答けるは撃殺すべからず汝劍と弓をもて擄にせる者等を撃殺すことを爲んやパンと水と彼らの前にそなへて食飮せしめてその主君に往しむべきなり
And he answered, Thou shall not smite them. Would thou smite those whom thou have taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? Set bread and water before them that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
23 王すなはちかれらの爲に大なる饗宴をまうけ其食飮ををはるに及びてこれを去しめたればすなはち其主君に歸れり是をもてスリアの兵ふたたびイスラエルの地に入ざりき
And he prepared great provision for them. And when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
24 此後スリアの王ベネハダデその全軍を集めて上りきたりてサマリヤを攻圍みければ
And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
25 サマリヤ大に糧食に乏しくなれり即ちかれら之を攻かこみたれば遂に驢馬の頭一箇は銀八十枚にいたり鳩の糞一カブの四分の一は銀五枚にいたる
And there was a great famine in Samaria. And, behold, they besieged it until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.
26 茲にイスラエルの王石垣の上を通りをる時一人の婦人かれに呼はりて我主王よ助けたまへと言ければ
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
27 彼言ふヱホバもし汝を助けたまはずば我何をもてか汝を助くることを得ん禾場の物をもてせんか酒榨の中の物をもてせんか
And he said, If Jehovah does not help thee, from where shall I help thee? Out of the threshing-floor, or out of the winepress?
28 王すなはち婦に何事なるやと言ば答へて言ふ此婦人我にむかひ汝の子を與へよ我儕今日これを食ひて明日わが子を食ふべしと言り
And the king said to her, What troubles thee? And she answered, This woman said to me, Give thy son that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.
29 斯われら吾子を煮てこれを食ひけるが我次の日にいたりて彼にむかひ汝の子を與へよ我儕これを食はんと言しに彼その子を隱したり
So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, Give thy son that we may eat him. And she has hid her son.
30 王その婦人の言を聞て衣を裂き而して石垣の上を通りをりしが民これを見るにその膚に麻布を著居たり
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes (now he was passing by upon the wall). And the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth inside upon his flesh.
31 王言けるは今日シヤパテの子エリシヤの首その身の上にすわりをらば神われに斯なしまた重ねてかく成たまへ
Then he said, God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
32 時にエリシヤはその家に坐しをり長老等これと共に坐し居る王すなはち己の所より人を遣しけるがエリシヤはその使者の未だ己にいたらざる前に長老等に言ふ汝等この人を殺す者の子が我の首をとらんとて人を遣はすを見るや汝等觀てその使者至らば戸を閉てこれを戸の内にいるるなかれ彼の主君の足音その後にするにあらずやと
But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man from before him, but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, Do ye see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door fast against him. Is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?
33 斯彼等と語をる間にその使者かれの許に來りしが王もつづいて來り言けるは此災はヱホバより出たるなり我なんぞ此上ヱホバを待べけんや
And while he was yet talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him, and he said, Behold, this evil is of Jehovah. Why should I wait for Jehovah any longer?
