サムエル記Ⅰ 31
1 ペリシテ人イスラエルと戰ふイスラエルの人々ペリシテ人のまへより逃げ負傷者ギルボア山に斃れたり
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
2 ペリシテ人サウルと其子等に攻よりペリシテ人サウルの子ヨナタン、アビナダブおよびマルキシユアを殺したり
And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
3 戰はげしくサウルにせまりて射手の者サウルを射とめければ彼痛く射手の者のために苦しめり
And the battle went sore against Saul, an the archers overtook him; and he was in great anguish by reason of the archers.
4 サウル武器を執る者にいひけるは爾の劍を抜き其をもて我を刺とほせ恐らくは是等の割禮なき者きたりて我を刺し我をはづかしめんと然ども武器をとるもの痛くおそれて肯ぜざればサウル劍をとりて其上に伏したり
Then said Saul to his armour-bearer: 'Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and make a mock of me.' But his armour-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.
5 武器を執るものサウルの死たるを見ておのれも劍の上にふしてかれとともに死り
And when his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell upon his sword, and died with him.
6 かくサウルと其三人の子およびサウルの武器をとるもの並に其從者みな此日倶に死り
So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armour-bearer, and all his men, that same day together.
7 イスラエルの人々の谷の對向にをるもの及びヨルダンの對面にをるものイスラエルの人々の逃るを見サウルと其子等の死るをみて諸邑を棄て逃ければペリシテ人きたりて其中にをる
And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8 明日ペリシテ人戰沒せる者を剥んとてきたりサウルと其三人の子のギルボア山にたふれをるを見たり
And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
9 彼等すなはちサウルの首を斬り其鎧甲をはぎとりペリシテ人の地の四方につかはして此好報を其偶像の家および民の中につげしむ
And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry the tidings unto the house of their idols, and to the people.
10 またかれら其鎧甲をアシタロテの家におき其體をベテシヤンの城垣に釘けたり
And they put his armour in the house of the Ashtaroth; and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.
11 ヤベシギレアデの人々ペリシテ人のサウルになしたる事を聞きしかば
And when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard concerning him that which the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 勇士みなおこり終夜ゆきてサウルの體と其子等の體をベテシヤンの城垣よりとりおろしヤベシにいたりて之を其處に焚き
all the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan; and they came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
13 其骨をとりてヤベシの柳樹の下にはうむり七日のあひだ斷食せり
And they took their bones, and buried them under the tamarisk-tree in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
