サムエル記Ⅰ 14
1 其時サウルの子ヨナタン武器を執る若者にいひけるはいざ對面にあるペリシテ人の先陣に渉りゆかんと然ど其父には告ざりき
Now it happened on a day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.
2 サウル、ギベアの極においてミグロンにある石榴の樹の下に住まりしが倶にある民はおよそ六百人なりき
Saul stayed in the uttermost part of Gibeah under the pomegranate tree which is in Migron; and the people who were with him were about six hundred men,
3 又アヒヤ、エポデを衣てともにをるアヒヤはアヒトブの子アヒトブはイカボデの兄弟イカボデばピネハスの子ピネハスはシロにありてヱホバの祭司たりしエリの子なり民ヨナタンの行けるをしらざりき
including Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli the priest of the LORD in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. The people did not know that Jonathan was gone.
4 ヨナタンの渉りてペリシテ人の先陣にいたらんとする渡口の間に此傍に巉巌あり彼傍にも巉巌あり一の名をボゼツといひ一の名をセネといふ
Between the passes, by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines’ garrison, there was a rocky crag on the one side and a rocky crag on the other side; and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
5 其一は北に向ひてミクマシに對し一に南にむかひてゲバに對す
The one crag rose up on the north in front of Michmash, and the other on the south in front of Geba.
6 ヨナタン武器を執る少者にいふいざ我ら此割禮なき者どもの先陣にわたらんヱホバ我らのためにはたらきたまことあらん多くの人をもて救ふも少き人をもてすくふもヱホバにおいては妨げなし
Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come! Let’s go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for there is no restraint on the LORD to save by many or by few.”
7 武器をとるもの之にいひけるは總て汝の心にあるところをなせ進めよ我汝の心にしたがひて汝とともにあり
His armor bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Go, and behold, I am with you according to your heart.”
8 ヨナタンいひけるは見よ我らかの人々のところにわたり身をかれらにあらはさん
Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will reveal ourselves to them.
9 かれら若し我らが汝らにいたるまでとどまれと斯く我らにいはば我らはこのままとどまりてかれらの所にのぼらじ
If they say this to us, ‘Wait until we come to you!’ then we will stand still in our place and will not go up to them.
10 されど若し我らのところにのぼれとかくいはば我らのぼらんヱホバかれらを我らの手にわたしたまふなり是を徴となさんと
But if they say this, ‘Come up to us!’ then we will go up, for the LORD has delivered them into our hand. This shall be the sign to us.”
11 斯て二人其身をペリシテ人の先陣にあらはしければペリシテ人いひけるは視よヘブル人其かくれたる穴よりいで來ると
Both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines; and the Philistines said, “Behold, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they had hidden themselves!”
12 すなはち先陣の人ヨナタンと其武器を執る者にこたへて我等の所に上りきたれ目に物見せんといひしかばヨナタン武器を執る者にいひけるは我にしたがひてのぼれヱホバ彼らをイスラエルの手にわたしたまふなり
The men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armor bearer, and said, “Come up to us, and we will show you something!” Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come up after me, for the LORD has delivered them into the hand of Israel.”
13 ヨナタン攀のぼり其武器を執るもの之にしたがふペリシテ人ヨナタンのまへに仆る武器をとる者も後にしたがひて之をころす
Jonathan climbed up on his hands and on his feet, and his armor bearer after him, and they fell before Jonathan; and his armor bearer killed them after him.
14 ヨナタンと其武器を取るもの手はじめに殺せし者およそ二十人此事田畑半段の内になれり
That first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armor bearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were half a furrow’s length in an acre of land.
15 しかして野にある陣のものおよび凡ての民の中に戰慄おこり先陣の人および劫掠人もまたおののき地ふるひ動けり是は神よりの戰慄なりき
There was a trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison and the raiders also trembled; and the earth quaked, so there was an exceedingly great trembling.
16 ベニヤミンのギベアにあるサウルの戌卒望見しに視よペリシテ人の群衆くづれて此彼にちらばる
The watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and behold, the multitude melted away and scattered.
17 時にサウルおのれとともなる民にいひけるは汝ら點驗て誰が我らの中よりゆきしかを見よとすなはちしらべたるにヨナタンとその武器を執るもの居らざりき
Then Saul said to the people who were with him, “Count now, and see who is missing from us.” When they had counted, behold, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there.
18 サウル、アヒヤにエポデを持きたれといふ其はかれ此時イスラエルのまへにエポデを著たれば也
Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring God’s ark here.” For God’s ark was with the children of Israel at that time.
19 サウル祭司にかたれる時ペリシテ人の軍の騒いよいよましたりければサウル祭司にいふ姑く汝の手を措けと
While Saul talked to the priest, the tumult that was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased; and Saul said to the priest, “Withdraw your hand!”
20 かくてサウルおよびサウルと共にある民皆呼はりて戰ひに至るにペリシテ人おのおの劍を以て互に相撃ちければその敗績はなはだ大なりき
Saul and all the people who were with him were gathered together, and came to the battle; and behold, they were all striking each other with their swords in very great confusion.
21 また此時よりまへにペリシテ人とともにありてペリシテ人と共に上りて陣に來るところのヘブル人もまた翻へりてサウルおよびヨナタンと共にあるイスラエル人に合せり
Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistines before and who went up with them into the camp from all around, even they also turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.
22 又エフライムの山地にかくれたるイスラエル人皆ペリシテ人の逃るを聞てまた戰ひに出て之を追撃り
Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
23 是の如くヱホバ此日イスラエルをすくひたまふ而して戰はベテアベンにうつれり
So the LORD saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over by Beth Aven.
24 されど此日イスラエル人苦めり其はサウル民を誓はせて夕まで即ちわが敵に仇をむくゆるまでに食物を食ふ者は呪詛れんと言たればなり是故に民の中に食物を味ひし者なし
The men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul had adjured the people, saying, “Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies.” So none of the people tasted food.
25 爰に民みな林森に至に地の表に蜜あり
All the people came into the forest; and there was honey on the ground.
26 即ち民森にいたりて蜜のながるるをみる然ども民誓を畏るれば誰も手を口につくる者なし
When the people had come to the forest, behold, honey was dripping, but no one put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.
27 然にヨナタンは其父が民をちかはせしを聞ざりければ手にある杖の末をのばして蜜にひたし手を口につけたり是に由て其目あきらかになりぬ
But Jonathan did not hear when his father commanded the people with the oath. Therefore he put out the end of the rod that was in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes brightened.
28 時に民のひとり答て言けるは汝の父かたく民をちかはせて今日食物をくらふ人は呪詛はれんと言り是に由て民つかれたり
Then one of the people answered, and said, “Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed is the man who eats food today.’” So the people were faint.
29 ヨナタンいひけるはわが父國を煩せり請ふ我この蜜をすこしく嘗しによりて如何にわが目の明かになりしかを見よ
Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have brightened because I tasted a little of this honey.
30 ましてや民今日敵よりうばひし物を十分に食しならばペリシテ人をころすこと更におほかるべきにあらずや
How much more, if perhaps the people had eaten freely today of the plunder of their enemies which they found? For now there has been no great slaughter among the Philistines.”
31 イスラエル人かの日ペリシテ人を撃てミクマシよりアヤロンにいたる而して民はなはだ疲たり
They struck the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon. The people were very faint;
32 是において民劫掠物に走かかり羊と牛と犢とを取りて之を地のうへにころし血のままに之をくらふ
and the people pounced on the plunder, and took sheep, cattle, and calves, and killed them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.
33 人々サウルにつげていひけるは民肉を血のままに食ひて罪をヱホバにをかすとサウルいひけるは汝ら背けり直ちにわがもとに大石をまろばしきたれ
Then they told Saul, saying, “Behold, the people are sinning against the LORD, in that they eat meat with the blood.” He said, “You have dealt treacherously. Roll a large stone to me today!”
34 サウルまたいひけるは汝らわかれて民のうちにいりていへ人各其牛と各其羊をわがもとに引ききたり此處にてころしくらへ血のままにくらひて罪をヱホバに犯すなかれと此において民おのおのこの夜其牛を手にひききたりて之をかしこにころせり
Saul said, “Disperse yourselves among the people, and tell them, ‘Every man bring me here his ox, and every man his sheep, and kill them here, and eat; and do not sin against the LORD in eating meat with the blood.’” All the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and killed them there.
35 しかしてサウル、ヱホバに一つの壇をきづく是はサウルのヱホバに壇を築ける始なり
Saul built an altar to the LORD. This was the first altar that he built to the LORD.
36 斯てサウルいひけるは我ら夜のうちにペリシテ人を追くだり夜明までかれらを掠めて一人をも殘すまじ皆いひけるは凡て汝の目に善とみゆる所をなせと時に祭司いひけるは我ら此にちかより神にもとめんと
Saul said, “Let’s go down after the Philistines by night, and take plunder among them until the morning light. Let’s not leave a man of them.” They said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said, “Let’s draw near here to God.”
37 サウル神に我ペリシテ人をおひくだるべきか汝かれらをイスラエルの手にわたしたまふやと問けれど此日はこたへたまはざりき
Saul asked counsel of God: “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But he did not answer him that day.
38 是においてサウルいひけるは民の長たちよ皆此にちかよれ汝らみて今日のこの罪のいづくにあるを知れ
Saul said, “Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people, and know and see in whom this sin has been today.
39 イスラエルを救ひたまへるヱホバはいく假令わが子ヨナタンにもあれ必ず死なざるべからずとされど民のうち一人もこれにこたへざりき
For as the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.
40 サウル、イスラエルの人々にいひけるはなんぢらは彼處にをれ我とわが子ヨナタンは此處にをらんと民いひけるは汝の目によしとみゆるところをなせ
Then he said to all Israel, “You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” The people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.”
41 サウル、イスラエルの神ヱホバにいひけるはねがはくは眞實をしめしたまへとかくてヨナタンとサウル籤にあたり民はのがれたり
Therefore Saul said to the LORD, the God of Israel, “Show the right.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen, but the people escaped.
42 サウルいひけるは我とわが子のあひだの鬮を掣けと即ちヨナタンこれにあたれり
Saul said, “Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” Jonathan was selected.
43 サウル、ヨナタンにいひけるは汝がなせしところを我に告よヨナタンつげていひけるは我は只わが手の杖の末をもて少許の蜜をなめしのみなるが我しなざるをえず
Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done!” Jonathan told him, and said, “I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in my hand; and behold, I must die.”
44 サウルこたへけるは神かくなしまたかさねてかくなしたまヘヨナタンよ汝死ざるべからず
Saul said, “God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”
45 民サウルにいひけるはイスラエルの中に此大なるすくひをなせるヨナタン死ぬべけんや決めてしからずヱホバは生くヨナタンの髮の毛ひとすぢも地におつべからず其はかれ神とともに今日はたらきたればなりとかく民ヨナタンをすくひて死なざらしむ
The people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has worked with God today!” So the people rescued Jonathan, so he did not die.
46 サウル、ペリシテ人を追ことを息てのぼりぬペリシテ人其國にかへれり
Then Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.
47 かくてサウル、イスラエルの王の位につきて四方の敵を攻む即ちモアブ、アンモンの子孫エドム、ゾバの王たちおよびペリシテ人をせめけるに凡てむかふところにて勝利を得たり
Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side: against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Wherever he turned himself, he defeated them.
48 サウル力をえアマレク人をうちてイスラエルを其劫掠人の手よりすくひいだせり
He did valiantly and struck the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who plundered them.
49 サウルの男子はヨナタン、ヱスイおよびマルキシユアなり其二人の女子の名は姉はメラブといひ妹はミカルといふ
Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, Ishvi, and Malchishua; and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal.
50 サウルの妻の名はアヒノアムといひてアヒマアズの女子なり其軍の長の名はアブネルといひてサウルの叔父なるネルの子なり
The name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the captain of his army was Abner the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.
51 サウルの父キシとアブネルの父ネルはアビエルの子なり
Kish was the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
52 サウルの一生のあひだ恒にペリシテ人と烈しき戰ありサウルは力ある人または勇ある人を見るごとにこれをかかへたり
There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul; and when Saul saw any mighty man or any valiant man, he took him into his service.
