ペテロの手紙第一 4
1 キリスト肉體にて苦難を受け給ひたれば、汝らも亦おなじ心をもて自ら鎧へ。――肉體にて苦難を受くる者は罪を止むるなり――
Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mentality, because whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
2 これ今よりのち、人の慾に從はず、神の御意に從ひて、肉體に寓れる殘の時を過さん爲なり。
so as to live his remaining time in the flesh no longer for the evil desires of men, but for the will of God.
3 なんぢら過ぎにし日は、異邦人の好む所をおこなひ、好色・慾 情・酩酊・宴樂・暴飮・律法にかなはぬ偶像 崇拜に歩みて、もはや足れり。
For we have spent enough of our lives doing what the Gentiles like to do, walking in sensual indulgences, evil desires, excesses of wine, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries.
4 彼らは汝らの己とともに放蕩の極に走らぬを怪しみて譏るなり。
They are surprised when you do not run with them into the same flood of debauchery, so they revile you.
5 彼らは生ける者と死にたる者とを審く準備をなし給へる者に己のことを陳ぶべし。
But they will give an account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 福音の死にたる者に宣傅へられしは、彼らが肉體にて人のごとく審かれ、靈にて神のごとく生きん爲なり。
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to the dead, so that, though they have been judged in the flesh as men are, they might live in the spirit as God does.
7 萬の物のをはり近づけり、然れば汝ら心を慥にし、愼みて祈せよ。
The end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be alert and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 何事よりも先づ互に熱く相 愛せよ。愛は多くの罪を掩へばなり。
Above all, maintain a deep love for one another, because love will cover a multitude of sins.
9 また吝むことなく互に懇ろに待せ。
Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
10 神のさまざまの恩惠を掌どる善き家 司のごとく、各人その受けし賜物をもて互に事へよ。
As each of you has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 もし語るならば、神の言をかたる者のごとく語り、事ふるならば、神の與へたまふ能力を受けたる者のごとく事へよ。是イエス・キリストによりて事々に神の崇められ給はん爲なり。榮光と權力とは世々 限りなく彼に歸するなり、アァメン。 (aiōn g165)
If anyone speaks, he should do so as one who speaks the oracles of God; if anyone serves, he should do so as one who serves from strength as God supplies it, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 愛する者よ、汝らを試みんとて來れる火のごとき試煉を異なる事として怪しまず、
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing were happening to you.
13 反つてキリストの苦難に與れば、與るほど喜べ、なんぢら彼の榮光の顯れん時にも喜び樂しまん爲なり。
But insofar as you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
14 もし汝 等キリストの名のために謗られなば幸福なり。榮光の御靈すなはち神の御靈なんじらの上に留り給へばなり。
If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.
15 汝 等のうち誰にても或は殺人、あるひは盜人、あるひは惡を行ふ者、あるひは妄に他人の事に干渉する者となりて苦難に遭ふな。
None of you should suffer as a murderer, thief, evildoer, or meddler,
16 されど若しキリステアンたるをもて苦難を受けなば、之を恥づることなく、反つて此の名によりて神を崇めよ。
but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he should not be ashamed, but should glorify God in this matter.
17 既に時いたれり、審判は神の家より始るべし。まづ我等より始るとせば、神の福音に從はざる者のその結局は如何にぞや。
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God, and if it begins first with us, what will be the outcome for those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?
18 義人もし辛うじて救はるるならば、不 敬虔なるもの、罪ある者は何處にか立たん。
And, “If the righteous man is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly man and sinner?”
19 されば神の御意に從ひて苦難を受くる者は、善を行ひて己が靈魂を眞實なる造物主にゆだね奉るべし。
Therefore, those who suffer according to the will of God should entrust their souls to him as their faithful Creator while doing what is good.
