Salmi 47

1 Per il Capo de’ musici. Dei figliuoli di Core. Salmo. Battete le mani, o popoli tutti; acclamate Iddio con grida d’allegrezza!

You people all [over the world], clap your hands for joy! Shout joyfully to [praise] God!

2 Poiché l’Eterno, l’Altissimo, è tremendo, re supremo su tutta la terra.

Yahweh, who is much greater than any other god, is awesome; he is the king who rules over all the world!

3 Egli riduce i popoli sotto di noi, e le nazioni sotto i nostri piedi.

He enabled us to defeat [the armies of] the people-groups [that lived in Canaan].

4 Egli scelse per noi la nostra eredità, gloria di Giacobbe ch’egli ama. (Sela)

He chose for us this land where we now live; we Israeli people [MTY], whom he loves, are proud that we own this land.

5 Iddio è salito in mezzo alle acclamazioni, l’Eterno è salito al suon delle trombe.

God has gone up [into his temple]. The people shouted joyfully and blew trumpets as Yahweh went up.

6 Salmeggiate a Dio, salmeggiate; salmeggiate al nostro re, salmeggiate!

Sing songs to praise our God! Sing to praise him [DOU]! Sing to God, our king!

7 Poiché Dio è re di tutta la terra; cantategli un bell’inno.

God is the one who rules over everything in the world; sing a psalm to him!

8 Iddio regna sulle nazioni; Iddio siede sul trono della sua santità.

God sits on his sacred throne as he rules over the people of [all] ethnic groups.

9 I principi de’ popoli s’adunano assieme per essere il popolo dell’Iddio d’Abramo: perché a Dio appartengono i potenti della terra; egli è sommamente elevato.

The rulers of those people-groups gather as God’s people, the people [descended] from Abraham, [do]. But God has more power than the weapons/shields [of all the kings] on the earth; (he is greatly honored/people honor him) everywhere.
