Salmi 38
1 Salmo di Davide. Per far ricordare. O Eterno, non mi correggere nella tua ira, e non castigarmi nel tuo cruccio!
A Psalme of Dauid for remembrance. O Lord, rebuke mee not in thine anger, neither chastise me in thy wrath.
2 Poiché le tue saette si sono confitte in me, e la tua mano m’è calata addosso.
For thine arrowes haue light vpon me, and thine hand lyeth vpon me.
3 Non v’è nulla d’intatto nella mia carne a cagion della tua ira; non v’è requie per le mie ossa a cagion del mio peccato.
There is nothing sound in my flesh, because of thine anger: neither is there rest in my bones because of my sinne.
4 Poiché le mie iniquità sorpassano il mio capo; son come un grave carico, troppo pesante per me.
For mine iniquities are gone ouer mine head, and as a weightie burden they are too heauie for me.
5 Le mie piaghe son fetide e purulenti per la mia follia.
My woundes are putrified, and corrupt because of my foolishnes.
6 Io son tutto curvo e abbattuto, vo attorno tuttodì vestito a bruno.
I am bowed, and crooked very sore: I goe mourning all the day.
7 Poiché i miei fianchi son pieni d’infiammazione, e non v’è nulla d’intatto nella mia carne.
For my reines are full of burning, and there is nothing sound in my flesh.
8 Son tutto fiacco e rotto; io ruggisco per il fremito del mio cuore.
I am weakened and sore broken: I roare for the very griefe of mine heart.
9 Signore, ogni mio desiderio è nel tuo cospetto, e i miei sospiri non ti son nascosti.
Lord, I powre my whole desire before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.
10 Il mio cuore palpita, la mia forza mi lascia, ed anche la luce de’ miei occhi m’è venuta meno.
Mine heart panteth: my strength faileth me, and the light of mine eyes, euen they are not mine owne.
11 I miei amici, i miei compagni stan lontani dalla mia piaga, e i miei prossimi si fermano da lungi.
My louers and my friends stand aside from my plague, and my kinsmen stand a farre off.
12 Quelli che cercan la mia vita mi tendono reti, e quelli che procurano il mio male proferiscon cose maligne e tutto il giorno meditano frodi.
They also, that seeke after my life, laye snares, and they that go about to do me euil, talke wicked things and imagine deceite continually.
13 Ma io, come un sordo, non odo: son come un muto che non apre la bocca.
But I as a deafe man heard not, and am as a dumme man, which openeth not his mouth.
14 Son come un uomo che non ascolta, e nella cui bocca non è replica di sorta.
Thus am I as a man, that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofes.
15 Poiché, in te io spero, o Eterno; tu risponderai, o Signore, Iddio mio!
For on thee, O Lord, do I waite: thou wilt heare me, my Lord, my God.
16 Io ho detto: Non si rallegrino di me; e quando il mio piè vacilla, non s’innalzino superbi contro a me.
For I said, Heare me, least they reioyce ouer me: for when my foote slippeth, they extol themselues against me.
17 Perché io sto per cadere, e il mio dolore è del continuo davanti a me.
Surely I am ready to halte, and my sorow is euer before me.
18 Io confesso la mia iniquità, e sono angosciato per il mio peccato.
When I declare my paine, and am sory for my sinne,
19 Ma quelli che senza motivo mi sono nemici sono forti, quelli che m’odiano a torto son moltiplicati.
Then mine enemies are aliue and are mightie, and they that hate me wrongfully are many.
20 Anche quelli che mi rendon male per bene sono miei avversari, perché seguo il bene.
They also, that rewarde euill for good, are mine aduersaries, because I follow goodnesse.
21 O Eterno, non abbandonarmi; Dio mio, non allontanarti da me;
Forsake me not, O Lord: be not thou farre from me, my God.
22 affrettati in mio aiuto, o Signore, mia salvezza!
Haste thee to helpe mee, O my Lord, my saluation.
