Salmi 132
1 Canto dei pellegrinaggi. Ricordati, o Eterno, a favor di Davide, di tutte le sue fatiche:
O Lord, remember David, and all his meekness.
2 com’egli giurò all’Eterno e fece voto al Potente di Giacobbe, dicendo:
How he swore to the Lord, he vowed a vow to the God of Jacob:
3 Certo, non entrerò nella tenda della mia casa, né salirò sul letto ove mi corico,
If I shall enter into the tabernacle of my house: if I shall go up into the bed wherein I lie:
4 non darò sonno ai miei occhi, né riposo alle mie palpebre,
If I shall give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,
5 finché abbia trovato un luogo per l’Eterno, una dimora per il Potente di Giacobbe.
Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
6 Ecco abbiamo udito che l’Arca era in Efrata; l’abbiam trovata nei campi di Jaar.
Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.
7 Andiamo nella dimora dell’Eterno, adoriamo dinanzi allo sgabello de’ suoi piedi!
We will go into his tabernacle: We will adore in the place where his feet stood.
8 Lèvati, o Eterno, vieni al luogo del tuo riposo, tu e l’Arca della tua forza.
Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.
9 I tuoi sacerdoti siano rivestiti di giustizia, e giubilino i tuoi fedeli.
Let thy priests be clothed with justice: and let thy saints rejoice.
10 Per amor di Davide tuo servitore, non respingere la faccia del tuo unto.
For thy servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of thy anointed.
11 L’Eterno ha fatto a Davide questo giuramento di verità, e non lo revocherà: Io metterò sul tuo trono un frutto delle tue viscere.
The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne.
12 Se i tuoi figliuoli osserveranno il mio patto e la mia testimonianza che insegnerò loro, anche i loro figliuoli sederanno sul tuo trono in perpetuo.
If thy children will keep thy covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them: Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne.
13 Poiché l’Eterno ha scelto Sion, l’ha desiderata per sua dimora.
For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chosen it for his dwelling.
14 Questo è il mio luogo di riposo in eterno; qui abiterò, perché l’ho desiderata.
This is my rest for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.
15 Io benedirò largamente i suoi viveri, sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.
Blessing, I will bless her widow: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 I suoi sacerdoti li vestirò di salvezza, e i suoi fedeli giubileranno con gran gioia.
I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy.
17 Quivi farò crescere la potenza di Davide, e quivi terrò accesa una lampada al mio unto.
There will I bring forth a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
18 I suoi nemici li vestirò di vergogna, ma su di lui fiorirà la sua corona.
His enemies I will clothe with confusion: but upon him will my sanctification flourish.
