Salmi 118

1 Celebrate l’Eterno, poiché egli è buono, perché la sua benignità dura in eterno.

O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endures for ever.

2 Sì, dica Israele: La sua benignità dura in eterno.

Let Israel now say, that his mercy endures for ever.

3 Sì, dica la casa d’Aaronne: La sua benignità dura in eterno.

Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endures for ever.

4 Sì, dicano quelli che temono l’Eterno: La sua benignità dura in eterno.

Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endures for ever.

5 Dal fondo della mia distretta invocai l’Eterno; l’Eterno mi rispose e mi mise al largo.

I called on the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.

6 L’Eterno è per me; io non temerò; che cosa mi può far l’uomo?

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?

7 L’Eterno è per me, fra quelli che mi soccorrono; ed io vedrò quel che desidero su quelli che m’odiano.

The LORD takes my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire on them that hate me.

8 E’ meglio rifugiarsi nell’Eterno che confidare nell’uomo;

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

9 è meglio rifugiarsi nell’Eterno che confidare nei principi.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

10 Tutte le nazioni m’hanno circondato; nel nome dell’Eterno, eccole da me sconfitte.

All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.

11 M’hanno circondato, sì, m’hanno accerchiato; nel nome dell’Eterno, eccole da me sconfitte.

They compassed me about; yes, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

12 M’hanno circondato come api, ma sono state spente come fuoco di spine; nel nome dell’Eterno io le ho sconfitte.

They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

13 Tu m’hai spinto con violenza per farmi cadere, ma l’Eterno mi ha soccorso.

You have thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.

14 L’Eterno è la mia forza e il mio cantico, ed è stato la mia salvezza.

The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

15 Un grido d’esultanza e di vittoria risuona nelle tende dei giusti: La destra dell’Eterno fa prodezze.

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

16 La destra dell’Eterno è levata in alto, la destra dell’Eterno fa prodezze.

The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

17 Io non morrò, anzi vivrò, e racconterò le opere dell’Eterno.

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

18 Certo, l’Eterno mi ha castigato, ma non mi ha dato in balìa della morte.

The LORD has chastened me sore: but he has not given me over to death.

19 Apritemi le porte della giustizia; io entrerò per esse, e celebrerò l’Eterno.

Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:

20 Questa è la porta dell’Eterno; i giusti entreranno per essa.

This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.

21 Io ti celebrerò perché tu m’hai risposto, e sei stato la mia salvezza.

I will praise you: for you have heard me, and are become my salvation.

22 La pietra che gli edificatori avevano rigettata è divenuta la pietra angolare.

The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

23 Questa è opera dell’Eterno, è cosa maravigliosa agli occhi nostri.

This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 Questo è il giorno che l’Eterno ha fatto; festeggiamo e rallegriamoci in esso.

This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Deh, o Eterno, salva! Deh, o Eterno, facci prosperare!

Save now, I beseech you, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech you, send now prosperity.

26 Benedetto colui che viene nel nome dell’Eterno! Noi vi benediciamo dalla casa dell’Eterno.

Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

27 L’Eterno è Dio ed ha fatto risplender su noi la sua luce; legate con funi la vittima della solennità, e menatela ai corni dell’altare.

God is the LORD, which has showed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

28 Tu sei il mio Dio, io ti celebrerò; tu sei il mio Dio, io ti esalterò.

You are my God, and I will praise you: you are my God, I will exalt you.

29 Celebrate l’Eterno, perch’egli è buono, perché la sua benignità dura in eterno.

O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.
