Levitico 19
1 L’Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:
And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:
2 “Parla a tutta la raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele, e di’ loro: Siate santi, perché io, l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro, son santo.
Speak unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel and thou shalt say unto them—Holy, shall ye be, —For holy, am I—Yahweh—your God
3 Rispetti ciascuno sua madre e suo padre, e osservate i miei sabati. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro.
Ye shall, every one, revere, his father and his mother, And my sabbaths, shall ye observe, —I—Yahweh, am your God.
4 Non vi rivolgete agl’idoli, e non vi fate degli dèi di getto. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro.
Do not turn unto things of nought, And, molten gods, shall ye not make to yourselves, —I—Yahweh, am your God.
5 E quando offrirete un sacrifizio di azioni di grazie all’Eterno, l’offrirete in modo da esser graditi.
And when ye would offer a peace-offering unto Yahweh, ye shall offer it that ye may be accepted.
6 Lo si mangerà il giorno stesso che l’avrete immolato, e il giorno seguente; e se ne rimarrà qualcosa fino al terzo giorno, lo brucerete col fuoco.
On the day, ye offer it, shall it be eaten, and on the morrow, —but, that which remaineth until the third day, in fire, shall be consumed.
7 Se se ne mangerà il terzo giorno, sarà cosa abominevole; il sacrifizio non sarà gradito.
And, if it, be eaten, on the third day, unclean, it is it shall not be accepted,
8 E chiunque ne mangerà porterà la pena della sua iniquità, perché avrà profanato ciò ch’è sacro all’Eterno; e quel tale sarà sterminato di fra il suo popolo.
But he that eateth it, his iniquity, shall bear, because that which had been hallowed unto Yahweh, hath he profaned, —so then that person shall be cut off from among his kinsfolk.
9 Quando mieterete la raccolta della vostra terra, non mieterai fino all’ultimo canto il tuo campo, e non raccoglierai ciò che resta da spigolare della tua raccolta;
And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly clear the border of thy field, in reaping, —nor shalt thou gather up the gleaning of thy harvest.
10 e nella tua vigna non coglierai i raspoli, né raccoglierai i granelli caduti; li lascerai per il povero e per il forestiere. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro.
And, thy vineyard, shalt thou not go over again, nor gather, every single grape: for the poor and for the sojourner, shalt thou leave them, I—Yahweh, am your God.
11 Non ruberete, e non userete inganno né menzogna gli uni a danno degli altri.
Ye shall not steal, —nor deceive nor lie one man to another;
12 Non giurerete il falso, usando il mio nome; ché profaneresti il nome del tuo Dio. Io sono l’Eterno.
Nor swear by my name falsely, —And so profane the name of thy God: I, am Yahweh.
13 Non opprimerai il tuo prossimo, e non gli rapirai ciò ch’è suo; il salario dell’operaio al tuo servizio non ti resti in mano la notte fino al mattino.
Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbour nor rob [him], —The wages of him that is hired shall not tarry with thee, until the morning.
14 Non maledirai il sordo, e non porrai inciampo davanti al cieco, ma temerai il tuo Dio. Io sono l’Eterno.
Thou shalt not curse the deaf, Nor, before the blind, place a stumbling-block, —So shalt thou stand in awe of thy God I, am Yahweh.
15 Non commetterete iniquità, nel giudicare; non avrai riguardo alla persona del povero, né tributerai speciale onore alla persona del potente; ma giudicherai il tuo prossimo con giustizia.
Ye shall not act perversely in giving judgment, Thou shalt neither respect the person of the poor, Nor prefer the person of the great, —In righteousness, shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
16 Non andrai qua e là facendo il diffamatore fra il tuo popolo, né ti presenterai ad attestare il falso a danno della vita del tuo prossimo. Io sono l’Eterno.
Thou shalt not go about talebearing, among thy people Thou shalt not stand by, over the blood of thy neighbour: I, am Yahweh.
17 Non odierai il tuo fratello in cuor tuo; riprendi pure il tuo prossimo, ma non ti caricare d’un peccato a cagion di lui.
Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart, —Thou shalt, faithfully reprove, thy neighbour, and not countenance him in sin:
18 Non ti vendicherai, e non serberai rancore contro i figliuoli del tuo popolo, ma amerai il prossimo tuo come te stesso. Io sono l’Eterno. Osserverete le mie leggi.
Thou shalt not take vengeance neither shalt thou cherish anger against the sons of thy people, So shalt thou love thy neighbour as thyself, —I, am Yahweh.
19 Non accoppierai bestie di specie differenti; non seminerai il tuo campo con due sorta di seme, né porterai veste tessuta di due diverse materie.
My statutes, shall ye observe, Thy beasts, shalt thou not cause to breed in two kinds, Thy field, shalt thou not sow with two sorts of seed, —And a garment woven of diverse threads, shalt thou not suffer to come upon thee.
20 Se uno si giace carnalmente con donna che sia schiava promessa a un uomo, ma non riscattata o affrancata, saranno ambedue puniti; ma non saranno messi a morte, perché colei non era libera.
And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, she being a bondmaid, acquired for a husband, and neither, redeemed, nor, freedom, given her, inquisition, shall be made they shall not be put to death, because she was not free;
21 L’uomo menerà all’Eterno, all’ingresso della tenda di convegno, come sacrifizio di riparazione, un montone;
but he shall bring in his guilt-bearer unto Yahweh, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, —even a ram as a guilt-bearer;
22 e il sacerdote farà per lui l’espiazione davanti all’Eterno, col montone del sacrifizio di riparazione, per il peccato che colui ha commesso, e il peccato che ha commesso gli sarà perdonato.
and the priest shall put a propitiatory-covering over him with the guilt-bearing ram before Yahweh, on account of his sin which he hath committed, —so shall he have forgiveness, from his sin which he hath committed.
23 Quando sarete entrati nel paese e vi avrete piantato ogni sorta d’alberi fruttiferi, ne considererete i frutti come incirconcisi; per tre anni saranno per voi come incirconcisi; non si dovranno mangiare.
And when ye come into the land, and plant any manner of fruit-tree, then shall ye count as uncircumcised the fruit thereof, three years, shall it be to you as if unclean, it shall not be eaten.
24 Ma il quarto anno tutti i loro frutti saranno consacrati all’Eterno, per dargli lode.
But, in the fourth year, all the fruit thereof shall be hallowed for a festival of thanksgiving unto Yahweh.
25 E il quinto anno mangerete il frutto di quegli alberi, affinché essi vi aumentino il loro prodotto. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro.
And in the fifth year, shall ye eat the fruit thereof, that it may enrich you with its increase, —I—Yahweh, am your God.
26 Non mangerete nulla che contenga sangue. Non praticherete alcuna sorta di divinazione o di magia.
Ye shall eat nothing with the blood thereof, —Ye shall not practise divination neither shall ye use magic.
27 Non vi taglierete in tondo i capelli ai lati dei capo, né toglierai i canti alla tua barba.
Ye shall not shave in a circle around your head, —nor shalt thou disfigure the fringe of thy beard.
28 Non vi farete incisioni nella carne per un morto, né vi stamperete segni addosso. Io sono l’Eterno.
Cuttings for a dead person, shall ye not make in your flesh. And punctures in your persons, shall ye not print, —I, am Yahweh.
29 Non profanare la tua figliuola, prostituendola, affinché il paese non si dia alla prostituzione e non si riempia di scelleratezze.
Do not profane thy daughter by causing her to be unchaste, —lest the land fall to unchastity, and so the land be filled with wickedness.
30 Osserverete i miei sabati, e porterete rispetto ai mio santuario. Io sono l’Eterno.
My sabbaths, shall ye observe, And my sanctuary, shall ye revere, —I, am Yahweh.
31 Non vi rivolgete agli spiriti, né agl’indovini; non li consultate, per non contaminarvi per mezzo loro. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro.
Do not turn unto mediums, Nor, for oracles, make search, To render yourselves unclean with them, I—Yahweh, am your God.
32 Alzati dinanzi al capo canuto, onora la persona del vecchio, e temi il tuo Dio. Io sono l’Eterno.
Before a hoary head, shalt thou rise up, And shalt honour the presence of an elder, —So shalt thou stand in awe of thy God—I, am Yahweh.
33 Quando qualche forestiero soggiornerà con voi nel vostro paese, non gli farete torto.
And, when there sojourneth with thee a sojourner in your land, ye shall not oppress him:
34 Il forestiero che soggiorna fra voi, lo tratterete come colui ch’è nato fra voi; tu l’amerai come te stesso; poiché anche voi foste forestieri nel paese d’Egitto. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro.
As one home born from among yourselves, shall be unto you the sojourner who sojourneth with you, So shalt thou love him as thyself, For, sojourners, became ye, in the land of Egypt, —I—Yahweh, am your God.
35 Non commetterete ingiustizie nei giudizi, né con le misure di lunghezza, né coi pesi, né con le misure di capacità.
Ye shall not act perversely in giving judgment, —in measures of extent, in weights in measures of capacity:
36 Avrete stadere giuste, pesi giusti, efa giusto, hin giusto. Io sono l’Eterno, l’Iddio vostro, che v’ho tratto dal paese d’Egitto.
Just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin, shall ye have, —I—Yahweh, am your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt.
37 Osserverete dunque tutte le mie leggi e tutte le mie prescrizioni, e le metterete in pratica. Io sono l’Eterno”.
Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes and all my regulations and do them, —I, am Yahweh.
