1 Questa è la posterità di Esaù, cioè Edom.

And these are the generations of Esau, the same is Edom.

2 Esaù prese le sue mogli tra le figliuole de’ Cananei: Ada, figliuola di Elon, lo Hitteo; Oholibama, figliuola di Ana,

Esau took wives of the daughters of Chanaan: Ada the daughter of Elon the Hethite, and Oolibama the daughter of Ana, the daughter of Sebeon the Hevite:

3 figliuola di Tsibeon, lo Hivveo; e Basmath, figliuola d’Ismaele, sorella di Nebaioth.

And Basemath the daughter of Ismael, sister of Nabajoth.

4 Ada partorì ad Esaù Elifaz;

And Ada bore Eliphaz: Basemath bore Rahuel:

5 Basmath partorì Reuel; e Oholibama partorì Ieush, Ialam e Korah. Questi sono i figliuoli di Esaù, che gli nacquero nel paese di Canaan.

Oolibama bore Jehus and Ihelon and Core. These are the sons of Esau, that were born to him in the land of Chanaan.

6 Esaù prese le sue mogli, i suoi figliuoli, le sue figliuole, tutte le persone della sua casa, i suoi greggi, tutto il suo bestiame e tutti i beni che aveva messi assieme nel paese di Canaan, e se ne andò in un altro paese, lontano da Giacobbe suo fratello;

And Esau took his wives and his sons and daughters, and every soul of his house, and his substance, and cattle, and all that he was able to acquire in the land of Chanaan: and went into another country, and departed from his brother Jacob.

7 giacché i loro beni erano troppo grandi perch’essi potessero dimorare assieme; e il paese nel quale soggiornavano, non era loro sufficiente a motivo del loro bestiame.

For they were exceeding rich, and could not dwell together: neither was the land in which they sojourned able to bear them, for the multitude of their flocks.

8 Ed Esaù abitò sulla montagna di Seir, Esaù è Edom.

And Esau dwelt in mount Seir: he is Edom.

9 Questa è la posterità di Esaù, padre degli Edomiti, sulla montagna di Seir.

And these are the generations of Esau the father of Edom in mount Seir,

10 Questi sono i nomi dei figliuoli di Esaù: Elifaz, figliuolo di Ada, moglie di Esaù; Reuel, figliuolo di Basmath, moglie di Esaù.

And these the names of his sons: Eliphaz the son of Ada the wife of Esau: and Rahuel the son of Basemath his wife.

11 I figliuoli di Elifaz furono: Teman, Omar, Tsefo, Gatam e Kenaz.

And Eliphaz had sons: Theman, Omar, Sepho, and Gatham, and Cenez.

12 Timna era la concubina di Elifaz, figliuolo di Esaù; essa partorì ad Elifaz Amalek. Questi furono i figliuoli di Ada, moglie di Esaù.

And Thamna was the concubine of Eliphaz the son of Esau: and she bore him Amalech. These are the sons of Ada the wife of Esau.

13 E questi furono i figliuoli di Reuel: Nahath e Zerach, Shammah e Mizza. Questi furono i figliuoli di Basmath, moglie di Esaù.

And the sons of Rahuel were Nahath and Zara, Samma and Meza. These were the sons of Basemath the wife of Esau.

14 E questi furono i figliuoli di Oholibama, figliuola di Ana, figliuola di Tsibeon, moglie di Esaù; essa partorì a Esaù: Ieush, Ialam e Korah.

And these were the sons of Oolibama, the daughter of Ana, the daughter of Sebeon, the wife of Esau, whom she bore to him, Jehus, and Ihelon, and Core.

15 Questi sono i capi de’ figliuoli di Esaù: Figliuoli di Elifaz, primogenito di Esaù: il capo Teman, il capo Omar, il capo Tsefo, il capo Kenaz,

These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: duke Theman, duke Omar, duke Sepho, duke Cenez,

16 il capo Korah, il capo Gatam, il capo Amalek; questi sono i capi discesi da Elifaz, nel paese di Edom. E sono i figliuoli di Ada.

Duke Core, duke Gatham, duke Amalech: these are the sons of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom, and these the sons of Ada.

17 E questi sono i figliuoli di Reuel, figliuolo di Esaù: il capo Nahath, il capo Zerach, il capo Shammah, il capo Mizza; questi sono i capi discesi da Reuel, nel paese di Edom. E sono i figliuoli di Basmath, moglie di Esaù.

And these were the sons of Rahuel, the son of Esau: duke Nahath, duke Zara, duke Samma, duke Meza. And these are the dukes of Rahuel, in the land of Edom: these the sons of Basemath the wife of Esau.

18 E questi sono i figliuoli di Oholibama, moglie di Esaù: il capo Ieush, il capo Ialam, il capo Korah; questi sono i capi discesi da Oholibama, figliuola di Ana, moglie di Esaù.

And these the sons of Oolibama the wife of Esau: duke Jehus, duke Ihelon, duke Core. These are the dukes of Oolibama, the daughter of Ana, and wife of Esau.

19 Questi sono i figliuoli di Esaù, che è Edom, e questi sono i loro capi.

These are the sons of Esau, and these the dukes of them: the same is Edom.

20 Questi sono i figliuoli di Seir, lo Horeo, che abitavano il paese: Lothan, Shobal, Tsibeon,

These are the sons of Seir the Horrite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Sobal, and Sebeon, and Ana,

21 Ana, Dishon, Etser e Dishan. Questi sono i capi degli Horei, figliuoli di Seir, nel paese di Edom.

And Dison, and Eser, and Disan. These are dukes of the Horrites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom.

22 I figliuoli di Lothan furono: Hori e Hemam; e la sorella di Lothan fu Timna.

And Lotan had sons: Hori and Heman. And the sister of Lotan was Thamna.

23 E questi sono i figliuoli di Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Scefo e Onam.

And these the sons of Sobal: Alvan and Manahat, and Ebal, and Sepho, and Oman.

24 E questi sono i figliuoli di Tsibeon: Aiah e Ana. Questo e quell’Ana che trovò le acque calde nel deserto, mentre pasceva gli asini di Tsibeon suo padre.

And these the sons of Sebeon: Aia and Ana. This is Ana that found the hot waters in the wilderness, when he fed the asses of Sebeon his father:

25 E questi sono i figliuoli di Ana: Dishon e Oholibama, figliuola di Ana.

And he had a son Dison, and a daughter Oolibama.

26 E questi sono i figliuoli di Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran e Keran.

And these were the sons of Dison: Hamdan, and Eseban, and Jethram, and Charan.

27 Questi sono i figliuoli di Etser: Bilhan, Zaavan e Akan.

These also were the sons of Eser: Balaan, and Zavan, and Acan.

28 Questi sono i figliuoli di Dishan: Uts e Aran.

And Disan had sons: Hus, and Aram.

29 Questi sono i capi degli Horei: il capo Lothan, il capo Shobal, il capo Tsibeon, il capo Ana,

These were dukes of the Horrites: duke Lotan, duke Sobal, duke Sebeon, duke Ana,

30 il capo Dishon, il capo Etser, il capo Dishan. Questi sono i capi degli Horei, i capi ch’essi ebbero nel paese di Seir.

Duke Dison, duke Eser, duke Disan: these were dukes of the Horrites that ruled in the land of Seir.

31 Questi sono i re che regnarono nel paese di Edom, prima che alcun re regnasse sui figliuoli d’Israele:

And the kings that ruled in the land of Edom, before the children of Israel had a king were these:

32 Bela, figliuolo di Beor, regnò in Edom, e il nome della sua città fu Dinhaba.

Bela the son of Beor, and the name of his city Denaba.

33 Bela morì, e Iobab, figliuolo di Zerach, di Botsra, regnò in luogo suo.

And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zara of Bosra reigned in his stead.

34 Iobab morì e Husham, del paese de’ Temaniti, regnò in luogo suo.

And when Jobab was dead, Husam of the land of the Themanites reigned in his stead.

35 Husham morì, e Hadad, figliuolo di Bedad, che sconfisse i Madianiti ne’ campi di Moab, regnò in luogo suo; e il nome della sua città fu Avith.

And after his death, Adad the son of Badad reigned in his stead, who defeated the Madianites in the country of Moab: and the name of his city was Avith.

36 Hadad morì, e Samla, di Masreka, regnò in luogo suo.

And when Adad was dead, there reigned in his stead, Semla of Masreca.

37 Samla morì, e Saul di Rehoboth sul Fiume, regnò in luogo suo.

And he being dead, Saul of the river Rohoboth, reigned in his stead.

38 Saul morì, e Baal-Hanan, figliuolo di Acbor, regnò in luogo suo.

And when he also was dead, Balanan the son of Achobor succeeded to the kingdom.

39 Baal-Hanan, figliuolo di Acbor, morì, e Hadar regnò in luogo suo. Il nome della sua città fu Pau, e il nome della sua moglie, Mehetabeel, figliuola di Matred, figliuola di Mezahab.

This man also being dead, Adar reigned in his place, and the name of his city was Phau: and his wife was called Meetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezaab.

40 E questi sono i nomi dei capi di Esaù, secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro territori, coi loro nomi: Il capo Timna, il capo Alva, il capo Ieteth,

And these are the names of the dukes of Esau in their kindreds, and places, and callings: duke Thamna, duke Alva, duke Jetheth,

41 il capo Oholibama, il capo Ela,

Duke Oolibama, duke Ela, duke Phinon,

42 il capo Pinon, il capo Kenaz, il capo Teman, il capo Mibtsar, il capo Magdiel, il capo Iram.

Duke Cenez, duke Theman, duke Mabsar,

43 Questi sono i capi di Edom secondo le loro dimore, nel paese che possedevano. Questo è Esaù, il padre degli Edomiti.

Duke Magdiel, duke Hiram: these are the dukes of Edom dwelling in the land of their government; the same is Esau the father of the Edomites.
