1 Or la vita di Sara fu di centoventisette anni. Tanti furon gli anni della vita di Sara.
When Sarah was an hundreth twentie and seuen yeere olde (so long liued she).
2 E Sara morì a Kiriat-Arba, che è Hebron, nel paese di Canaan; e Abrahamo venne a far duolo di Sara e a piangerla.
Then Sarah dyed in Kiriath-arba: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan. and Abraham came to mourne for Sarah and to weepe for her.
3 Poi Abrahamo si levò di presso al suo morto, e parlò ai figliuoli di Heth, dicendo:
Then Abraham rose vp from the sight of his corps, and talked with the Hittites, saying,
4 “Io sono straniero e avventizio fra voi; datemi la proprietà di un sepolcro fra voi, affinché io seppellisca il mio morto e me lo tolga d’innanzi”.
I am a stranger, and a forreiner among you, giue me a possession of buriall with you, that I may burie my dead out of my sight.
5 E i figliuoli di Heth risposero ad Abrahamo dicendogli:
Then the Hittites answered Abraham, saying vnto him,
6 “Ascoltaci, signore; tu sei fra noi un principe di Dio; seppellisci il tuo morto nel migliore dei nostri sepolcri; nessun di noi ti rifiuterà il suo sepolcro perché tu vi seppellisca il tuo morto”.
Heare vs, my lorde: thou art a prince of God among vs: in the chiefest of our sepulchres bury thy dead: none of vs shall forbid thee his sepulchre, but thou mayest bury thy dead therein.
7 E Abrahamo si levò, s’inchinò dinanzi al popolo del paese, dinanzi ai figliuoli di Heth, e parlò loro dicendo:
Then Abraham stoode vp, and bowed him selfe before the people of the land of the Hittites.
8 “Se piace a voi ch’io tolga il mio morto d’innanzi a me e lo seppellisca, ascoltatemi, e intercedete per me presso Efron figliuolo di Zohar
And he communed with them, saying, If it be your minde, that I shall bury my dead out of my sight, heare me, and intreate for me to Ephron the sonne of Zohar,
9 perché mi ceda la sua spelonca di Macpela che è all’estremità del suo campo, e me la dia per l’intero suo prezzo, come sepolcro che m’appartenga fra voi”.
That he would giue me ye caue of Machpelah, which he hath in the ende of his field: that he would giue it me for as much money as it is worth, for a possession to bury in among you.
10 Or Efron sedeva in mezzo ai figliuoli di Heth; ed Efron, lo Hitteo, rispose ad Abrahamo in presenza dei figliuoli di Heth, di tutti quelli che entravano per la porta della sua città, dicendo:
(For Ephron dwelt among the Hittites) Then Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of all the Hittites that went in at the gates of his citie, saying,
11 “No, mio signore, ascoltami! Io ti dono il campo, e ti dono la spelonca che v’è; te ne fo dono, in presenza de’ figliuoli del mio popolo; seppellisci il tuo morto”.
No, my Lord, heare me: the fielde giue I thee, and the caue, that therein is, I giue it thee: euen in the presence of the sonnes of my people giue I it thee, to bury thy dead.
12 E Abrahamo s’inchinò dinanzi al popolo del paese,
Then Abraham bowed himselfe before the people of the land,
13 e parlò ad Efron in presenza del popolo del paese, dicendo: “Deh, ascoltami! Io ti darò il prezzo del campo; accettalo da me, e io seppellirò quivi il mio morto”.
And spake vnto Ephron in the audience of the people of the countrey, saying, Seeing thou wilt giue it, I pray thee, heare me, I will giue the price of the fielde: receiue it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
14 Ed Efron rispose ad Abrahamo, dicendogli:
Ephron then answered Abraham, saying vnto him,
15 “Signor mio, ascoltami! Un pezzo di terreno di quattrocento sicli d’argento, che cos’è fra me e te? Seppellisci dunque il tuo morto”.
My lord, hearken vnto me: ye land is worth foure hundreth shekels of siluer: what is that betweene me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
16 E Abrahamo fece a modo di Efron; e Abrahamo pesò a Efron il prezzo ch’egli avea detto in presenza de’ figliuoli di Heth, quattrocento sicli d’argento, di buona moneta mercantile.
So Abraham hearkened vnto Ephron, and Abraham weyed to Ephron the siluer, which he had named, in the audience of the Hittites, euen foure hundreth siluer shekels of currant money among marchants.
17 Così il campo di Efron ch’era a Macpela dirimpetto a Mamre, il campo con la caverna che v’era, e tutti gli alberi ch’erano nel campo e in tutti i confini all’intorno,
So the fielde of Ephron which was in Machpelah, and ouer against Mamre, euen the field and the caue that was therein, and all the trees that were in the fielde, which were in all the borders round about, was made sure
18 furono assicurati come proprietà d’Abrahamo, in presenza de’ figliuoli di Heth e di tutti quelli ch’entravano per la porta della città di Efron.
Vnto Abraham for a possession, in ye sight of the Hittites, euen of all that went in at the gates of his citie.
19 Dopo questo, Abrahamo seppellì Sara sua moglie nella spelonca del campo di Macpela dirimpetto a Mamre, che è Hebron, nel paese di Canaan.
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the caue of the fielde of Machpelah ouer against Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.
20 E il campo e la spelonca che v’è, furono assicurati ad Abrahamo, dai figliuoli di Heth, come sepolcro di sua proprietà.
Thus the fielde and the caue, that is therein, was made sure vnto Abraham for a possession of buriall by the Hittites.
