1 Or sappi questo, che negli ultimi giorni verranno dei tempi difficili;
But wite thou this thing, that in the laste daies perelouse tymes schulen neiye, and men schulen be louynge hem silf,
2 perché gli uomini saranno egoisti, amanti del denaro, vanagloriosi, superbi, bestemmiatori, disubbidienti ai genitori, ingrati, irreligiosi,
coueitouse, hiy of bering, proude, blasfemeris, not obedient to fadir and modir, vnkynde,
3 senz’affezione naturale, mancatori di fede, calunniatori, intemperanti, spietati, senza amore per il bene,
cursid, with outen affeccioun, with out pees, false blameris, vncontynent, vnmylde,
4 traditori, temerari, gonfi, amanti del piacere anziché di Dio,
with out benygnyte, traitouris, ouerthwert, bollun with proude thouytis, blynde, loueris of lustis more than of God,
5 aventi le forme della pietà, ma avendone rinnegata la potenza.
hauynge the licknesse of pitee, but denyynge the vertu of it. And eschewe thou these men.
6 Anche costoro schiva! Poiché del numero di costoro son quelli che s’insinuano nelle case e cattivano donnicciuole cariche di peccati, agitate da varie cupidigie,
Of these thei ben that persen housis, and leden wymmen caitifs chargid with synnes, whiche ben led with dyuerse desiris, euere more lernynge,
7 che imparan sempre e non possono mai pervenire alla conoscenza della verità.
and neuere perfitli comynge to the science of treuthe.
8 E come Jannè e Iambrè contrastarono a Mosè, così anche costoro contrastano alla verità: uomini corrotti di mente, riprovati quanto alla fede.
And as Jannes and Mambres ayenstoden Moises, so these ayenstonden treuthe, men corrupt in vndirstonding, repreuyd aboute the feith.
9 Ma non andranno più oltre, perché la loro stoltezza sarà manifesta a tutti, come fu quella di quegli uomini.
But ferthere thei schulen not profite, for the vnwisdom of hem schal be knowun to alle men, as hern was.
10 Quanto a te, tu hai tenuto dietro al mio insegnamento, alla mia condotta, a’ miei propositi, alla mia fede, alla mia pazienza, al mio amore, alla mia costanza,
But thou hast getun my teching, ordinaunce, purposing, feith, long abiding, loue,
11 alle mie persecuzioni, alle mie sofferenze, a quel che mi avvenne ad Antiochia, ad Iconio ed a Listra. Sai quali persecuzioni ho sopportato; e il Signore mia ha liberato da tutte.
pacience, persecuciouns, passiouns, whiche weren maad to me at Antioche, at Ycony, at Listris, what maner persecucyouns Y suffride, and the Lord hath delyuered me of alle.
12 E d’altronde tutti quelli che voglion vivere pienamente in Cristo Gesù saranno perseguitati;
And alle men that wolen lyue feithfuli in Crist Jhesu, schulen suffre persecucioun.
13 mentre i malvagi e gli impostori andranno di male in peggio, seducendo ed essendo sedotti.
But yuele men and disseyueris schulen encreese in to worse, errynge, and sendinge in to errour.
14 Ma tu persevera nelle cose che hai imparate e delle quali sei stato accertato, sapendo da chi le hai imparate,
But dwelle thou in these thingis that thou hast lerud, and that ben bitakun to thee, witinge of whom thou hast lerud;
15 e che fin da fanciullo hai avuto conoscenza degli Scritti sacri, i quali possono renderti savio a salute mediante la fede che è in Cristo Gesù.
for thou hast knowun hooli lettris fro thi youthe, whiche moun lerne thee to heelthe, bi feith that is in Crist Jhesu.
16 Ogni scrittura è ispirata da Dio e utile a insegnare, a riprendere, a correggere, a educare alla giustizia,
For al scripture inspirid of God is profitable to teche, to repreue, to chastice, to lerne in riytwisnes,
17 affinché l’uomo di Dio sia compiuto, appieno fornito per ogni opera buona.
that the man of God be parfit, lerud to al good werk.
