1 Re 16

1 E la parola dell’Eterno fu rivolta a Jehu, figliuolo di Hanani, contro Baasa, in questi termini:

And a word of YHWH is to Jehu son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,

2 “Io t’ho innalzato dalla polvere e t’ho fatto principe del mio popolo Israele, ma tu hai battuto le vie di Geroboamo ed hai indotto il mio popolo Israele a peccare, in guisa da provocarmi a sdegno coi suoi peccati;

“Because that I have raised you up out of the dust, and appoint you leader over My people Israel, and you walk in the way of Jeroboam, and cause My people Israel to sin—to provoke Me to anger with their sins;

3 perciò io spazzerò via Baasa e la sua casa, e farò della casa tua quel che ho fatto della casa di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Nebat.

behold, I am putting away the posterity of Baasha, even the posterity of his house, and have given up your house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat;

4 Quelli della famiglia di Baasa che morranno in città, saran divorati dai cani; e quelli che morranno per i campi, li mangeranno gli uccelli del cielo”.

the dogs eat him who dies of Baasha in a city, and [the] bird of the heavens eats him who dies of his in a field.”

5 Le rimanenti azioni di Baasa, le sue gesta, e le sue prodezze, trovansi scritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele.

And the rest of the matters of Baasha, and that which he did, and his might, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

6 E Baasa si addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto in Tirtsa; ed Ela, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

And Baasha lies with his fathers, and is buried in Tirzah, and his son Elah reigns in his stead.

7 La parola che l’Eterno avea pronunziata per bocca del profeta Jehu, figliuolo di Hanani, fu diretta contro Baasa e contro la casa di lui, non soltanto a motivo di tutto il male che Baasa avea fatto sotto gli occhi dell’Eterno, provocandolo ad ira con l’opera delle sue mani così da imitare la casa di Geroboamo, ma anche perché aveva sterminata quella casa.

And also by the hand of Jehu son of Hanani the prophet a word of YHWH has been concerning Baasha, and concerning his house, and concerning all the evil that he did in the eyes of YHWH to provoke Him to anger with the work of his hands, to be like the house of Jeroboam, and concerning that for which he struck him.

8 L’anno ventesimosesto di Asa, re di Giuda, Ela, figliuolo di Baasa, cominciò a regnare sopra Israele. Stava a Tirtsa, e regnò due anni.

In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha has reigned over Israel in Tirzah, two years;

9 Zimri, suo servo, comandante della metà de’ suoi carri, congiurò contro di lui. Ela era a Tirtsa, bevendo ed ubriacandosi in casa di Artsa, prefetto del palazzo di Tirtsa,

and his servant Zimri conspires against him (head of the half of the chariots) and he [is] in Tirzah drinking—a drunkard in the house of Arza, who [is] over the house in Tirzah.

10 quando Zimri entrò, lo colpì e l’uccise, l’anno ventisettesimo d’Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò in luogo suo.

And Zimri comes in and strikes him, and puts him to death, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigns in his stead;

11 E quando fu re, non appena si fu assiso sul trono, distrusse tutta la casa di Baasa; non gli lasciò neppure un bimbo: né parenti, né amici.

and it comes to pass in his reigning, at his sitting on his throne, he has struck the whole house of Baasha; he has not left to him any sitting on the wall, and of his redeemers, and of his friends.

12 Così Zimri sterminò tutta la casa di Baasa, secondo la parola che l’Eterno avea pronunziata contro Baasa per bocca del profeta Jehu,

And Zimri destroys the whole house of Baasha, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke concerning Baasha, by the hand of Jehu the prophet,

13 a motivo di tutti i peccati che Baasa ed Ela, suo figliuolo, aveano commesso e fatto commettere ad Israele, provocando ad ira l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, con i loro idoli.

concerning all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of his son Elah, that they sinned, and that they caused Israel to sin to provoke YHWH, God of Israel, with their vanities.

14 Il resto delle azioni d’Ela e tutto quello ch’ei fece, trovasi scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele.

And the rest of the matters of Elah and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

15 L’anno ventisettesimo di Asa, re di Giuda, Zimri regnò per sette giorni in Tirtsa. Or il popolo era accampato contro Ghibbethon, città dei Filistei.

In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri has reigned seven days in Tirzah; and the people are encamping against Gibbethon, which [belonged] to the Philistines;

16 Il popolo quivi accampato, sentì dire: “Zimri ha fatto una congiura e ha perfino ucciso il re!” E quello stesso giorno, nell’accampamento, tutto Israele fece re d’Israele Omri, capo dell’esercito.

and the people who are encamping hear, saying, “Zimri has conspired, and also has struck the king”; and all Israel causes Omri head of the host to reign over Israel on that day in the camp.

17 Ed Omri con tutto Israele salì da Ghibbethon e assediò Tirtsa.

And Omri goes up, and all Israel with him, from Gibbethon, and they lay siege to Tirzah.

18 Zimri, vedendo che la città era presa, si ritirò nella torre della casa del re, diè fuoco alla casa reale restando sotto alle rovine, e così mori,

And it comes to pass, at Zimri’s seeing that the city has been captured, that he comes into a high place of the house of the king, and burns the house of the king over himself with fire, and he dies,

19 a motivo de’ peccati che aveva commessi, facendo ciò ch’è male agli occhi dell’Eterno, battendo la via di Geroboamo e abbandonandosi al peccato che questi avea commesso, inducendo a peccare Israele.

for his sins that he sinned, to do evil in the eyes of YHWH, to walk in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he did, to cause Israel to sin;

20 Il resto delle azioni di Zimri, la congiura ch’egli ordì, sono cose scritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele.

and the rest of the matters of Zimri and his conspiracy that he made, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

21 Allora il popolo d’Israele si divise in due parti: metà del popolo seguiva Tibni, figliuolo di Ghinath, per farlo re; l’altra metà seguiva Omri.

Then the sons of Israel are parted into halves; half of the people have been after Tibni son of Ginath to cause him to reign, and the [other] half after Omri;

22 Ma il popolo che seguiva Omri la vinse contro quello che seguiva Tibni, figliuolo di Ghinath. Tibni morì, e regnò Omri.

and the people that are after Omri are stronger than the people that are after Tibni son of Ginath, and Tibni dies, and Omri reigns.

23 Il trentunesimo anno d’Asa, re di Giuda, Omri cominciò a regnare sopra Israele, e regnò dodici anni. Regnò sei anni in Tirtsa,

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri has reigned over Israel twelve years; he has reigned in Tirzah six years,

24 poi comprò da Scemer il monte di Samaria per due talenti d’argento; edificò su quel monte una città, e alla città che edificò diede il nome di Samaria dal nome di Scemer, padrone del monte.

and he buys the Mount of Samaria from Shemer with two talents of silver, and builds [on] the mountain, and calls the name of the city that he has built by the name of Shemer, lord of the hill—Samaria.

25 Omri fece ciò ch’è male agli occhi dell’Eterno, e fece peggio di tutti i suoi predecessori;

And Omri does evil in the eyes of YHWH, and does evil above all who [are] before him,

26 batté in tutto la via di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Nebat, e s’abbandonò ai peccati che Geroboamo avea fatti commettere a Israele, provocando a sdegno l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, coi suoi idoli.

and walks in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin, to provoke YHWH, God of Israel, with their vanities.

27 Il resto delle azioni compiute da Omri e le prodezze da lui fatte, sta tutto scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele.

And the rest of the matters of Omri that he did and his might that he exercised, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

28 Ed Omri s’addormentò coi suoi padri e fu sepolto in Samaria; e Achab, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

And Omri lies with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria, and his son Ahab reigns in his stead.

29 Achab, figliuolo di Omri, cominciò a regnare sopra Israele l’anno trentottesimo di Asa, re di Giuda; e regnò in Samaria sopra Israele per ventidue anni.

And Ahab son of Omri has reigned over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab son of Omri reigns over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years,

30 Achab, figliuolo di Omri, fece ciò ch’è male agli occhi dell’Eterno più di tutti quelli che l’aveano preceduto.

and Ahab son of Omri does evil in the eyes of YHWH above all who [are] before him.

31 E, come se fosse stata per lui poca cosa lo abbandonarsi ai peccati di Geroboamo figliuolo di Nebat, prese per moglie Izebel, figliuola di Ethbaal, re dei Sidoni, andò a servire Baal, a prostrarsi dinanzi a lui,

And it comes to pass, as if it had been trivial—his walking in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat—that he takes a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethba‘al, king of the Zidonians, and goes and serves Ba‘al, and bows himself to it,

32 ed eresse un altare a Baal, nel tempio di Baal, che edificò a Samaria.

and raises up an altar for Ba‘al in the house of the Ba‘al, which he built in Samaria;

33 Achab fece anche l’idolo d’Astarte. Achab fece più, per provocare a sdegno l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, di quello che non avean fatto tutti i re d’Israele che l’avean preceduto.

and Ahab makes the Asherah, and Ahab adds to do so as to provoke YHWH, God of Israel, above all the kings of Israel who have been before him.

34 Al tempo di lui, Hiel di Bethel riedificò Gerico; ne gettò le fondamenta su Abiram, suo primogenito, e ne rizzò le porte su Segub, il più giovane de’ suoi figliuoli, secondo la parola che l’Eterno avea pronunziata per bocca di Giosuè, figliuolo di Nun.

In his days Hiel the Beth-Elite has built Jericho; he laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and he set up its doors with Segub his youngest, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke by the hand of Joshua son of Nun.
