Salmi 89
1 Maschil di Etan Ezrahita IO canterò in perpetuo le benignità del Signore; Io renderò colla mia bocca nota la tua verità per ogni età.
An Instructive Psalm, by Ethan the Ezrahite. The lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, age-abidingly will I sing, To generation after generation, will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.
2 Perciocchè io ho detto: La [tua] benignità sarà stabile in eterno; Tu hai fermata la tua verità ne' cieli.
For I said, To times age-abiding, shall lovingkindness be built up, As for the heavens, thou wilt establish thy faithfulness therein.
3 Io ho fatto, [dice il Signore], patto col mio eletto; Io ho giurato a Davide, mio servitore, [dicendo: ]
I have solemnised a covenant, for my chosen one, I have sworn unto David my servant:
4 Io fonderò la tua progenie in eterno, Ed edificherò il tuo trono per ogni età. (Sela)
Unto times age-abiding, will I establish thy seed, And will build up, unto generation after generation, thy throne. (Selah)
5 I cieli parimente celebreranno le tue maraviglie, o Signore; La tua verità eziandio [sarà celebrata] nella raunanza de' santi.
So shall the heavens praise thy wondrousness, O Yahweh, —Yea, thy faithfulness, in the convocation of holy ones.
6 Perciocchè, chi [è] nel cielo [che] pareggi il Signore; [E che] possa essere assomigliato al Signore, fra i figliuoli de' possenti?
For whom, in the skies, can one compare unto Yahweh? [Or] can one liken unto Yahweh, among the sons of the mighty?
7 Iddio [è] grandemente spaventevole nel consiglio de' santi, E tremendo sopra tutti quelli che [sono] d'intorno a lui.
A GOD inspiring awe in the circle of the holy ones, exceedingly, And to be reverenced above all who are round about him.
8 O Signore Iddio degli eserciti, chi [è] potente Signore come [sei] tu? Tu hai, oltre a ciò, intorno a te la tua verità.
O Yahweh, God of hosts! Who, like thee, is mighty, O Yah! With thy faithfulness round about thee:
9 Tu signoreggi sopra l'alterezza del mare; Quando le sue onde s'innalzano, tu l'acqueti.
Thou, rulest over the swelling of the sea, When the rolling waves thereof lift themselves, Thou, dost bid them be still:
10 Tu hai fiaccato Rahab, a guisa d'uomo ferito a morte; Tu hai, col tuo possente braccio, dispersi i tuoi nemici.
Thou, hast crushed—as one slain—Rahab, With thy strong arm, hast thou scattered thy foes.
11 I cieli [son] tuoi, tua eziandio [è] la terra; Tu hai fondato il mondo, e tutto ciò ch'è in esso.
Thine, are the heavens, Yea, thine, the earth, The world and the fulness thereof, Thou, didst found them;
12 Tu hai creato il Settentrione ed il Mezzodì; Tabor ed Hermon trionfano nel tuo Nome.
The north and the south, Thou, didst create them, —Tabor and Hermon, with thy Name, shall shout for joy:
13 Tu hai un braccio forte; La tua mano è potente, la tua destra è esaltata.
Thine is an arm with might, Strong is thy hand, High is thy right hand;
14 Giustizia e giudicio [son] la ferma base del tuo trono; Benignità e verità vanno davanti alla tua faccia.
Righteousness and justice, are the establishing of thy throne, Lovingkindness and faithfulness, go before thy face.
15 Beato il popolo che sa che cosa è il giubilare; O Signore, essi cammineranno alla chiarezza della tua faccia;
How happy are the people who know the joyful sound! O Yahweh! in the light of thy countenance, shall they firmly march along;
16 Festeggeranno tuttodì nel tuo nome, E si esalteranno nella tua giustizia.
In thy Name, shall they exult all the day, And, in thy righteousness, shall they be exalted.
17 Perchè tu [sei] la gloria della lor forza; E il nostro corno è alzato per lo tuo favore.
For, the beauty of their strength, thou art, And, in thine acceptance, shall our horns be exalted.
18 Perciocchè lo scudo nostro [è] del Signore; E il Re nostro [è] del Santo d'Israele.
For, to Yahweh, belongeth our Shield, And, to the Holy One of Israel, belongeth our King.
19 Tu parlasti già in visione intorno al tuo Santo, E dicesti: Io ho posto l'aiuto intorno al possente; Io ho innalzato l'eletto d'infra il popolo.
Then spakest thou in vision of thy men of lovingkindness, and saidst—I have laid help upon a mighty one, I have exalted one chosen from among the people;
20 Io ho trovato Davide, mio servitore; [E] l'ho unto coll'olio mio santo;
I have found David my servant, With mine own holy oil, have I anointed him;
21 Col quale la mia mano sarà ferma; Il mio braccio eziandio lo fortificherà.
With whom my hand shall be firm, Yea, mine arm, shall strengthen him;
22 Il nemico non l'oppresserà; Ed il perverso non l'affliggerà.
No foe shall make exactions on him, Nor shall, a son of perversity, humiliate him;
23 Anzi io fiaccherò i suoi nemici, [cacciandoli] d'innanzi a lui; E sconfiggerò quelli che l'odieranno.
And I will shatter, from before him, his adversaries, And, them who hate him, will I smite;
24 E la mia verità, e la mia benignità, [saranno] con lui; Ed il suo corno sarà alzato nel mio nome;
And, my faithfulness and my lovingkindness, shall be with him, And, in my Name, exalted shall be his horn;
25 E metterò la sua mano sopra il mare, E la sua destra sopra i fiumi.
And I will set, in the sea, his hand, And, in the rivers, his right hand;
26 Egli m'invocherà, [dicendo: ] Tu [sei] mio Padre, Il mio Dio, e la Rocca della mia salute.
He, shall cry out unto me, My Father, thou art, My GOD, and my Rock of Salvation!
27 Io altresì lo costituirò il primogenito, Il più eccelso dei re della terra.
Yea, I, will appoint him, firstborn, Most High to the kings of the earth!
28 Io gli osserverò la mia benignità in perpetuo, Ed il mio patto [sarà] leale inverso lui.
Age-abidingly, will I keep for him my lovingkindness, And, my covenant, hath been made steadfast for him;
29 E renderò la sua progenie eterna, Ed il suo trono simile a' giorni del cielo.
Therefore will I appoint, to futurity, his seed, And his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 Se i suoi figliuoli abbandonano la mia Legge, E non camminano ne' miei ordinamenti;
If his sons forsake my law, And, in my regulations, do not walk;
31 Se violano i miei statuti, E non osservano i miei comandamenti;
If, my statutes, they profane, And, my commandments, do not keep:
32 Io visiterò il lor misfatto con verga, E la loro iniquità con battiture;
Then will I punish, with a rod, their transgression; And, with stripes, their iniquity:
33 [Ma] non annullerò la mia benignità inverso lui, E non mentirò contro alla mia verità.
But, my lovingkindness, will I not frustrate from them, Neither will I falsify my faithfulness;
34 Io non violerò il mio patto, E non muterò quello che è uscito dalle mie labbra.
I will not violate my covenant, And that which hath proceeded out of my lips, will I not alter:
35 Io ho giurato una volta per la mia santità: Se io mento a Davide;
One thing, have I sworn by my holiness, Verily, to David, will I not lie;
36 [Che] la sua progenie sarà in eterno, E che il suo trono [sarà] come il sole nel mio cospetto;
His seed, age-abidingly, shall remain, And, his throne, be like the sun before me;
37 Che sarà stabile in perpetuo, come la luna; E [di ciò] vi è il testimonio fedele nel cielo. (Sela)
Like the moon, shall it be established unto times age-abiding, And, a witness, in the skies, hath been made sure. (Selah)
38 E pur tu [l]'hai cacciato lungi [da te], e [l]'hai disdegnato; Tu ti sei gravemente adirato contro al tuo unto.
Yet, thou thyself, hast cast off, and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with thine Anointed One!
39 Tu hai annullato il patto fatto col tuo servitore; Tu hai contaminata la sua benda reale, [gettendola] per terra.
Thou hast cast down the covenant of thy Servant, Thou hast profaned, to the earth, his crown;
40 Tu hai rotte tutte le sue chiusure; Tu hai messe in ruina le sue fortezze.
Thou hast broken down all his defenses, Thou hast laid his fortresses in ruins;
41 Tutti i passanti l'hanno predato; Egli è stato in vituperio a' suoi vicini.
All the passers by the way, have plundered him, He hath become a reproach to his neighbours;
42 Tu hai alzata la destra de' suoi avversari; Tu hai rallegrati tutti i suoi nemici.
Thou hast raised the right hand of his adversaries, Thou hast gladdened all his enemies;
43 Tu hai eziandio rintuzzato il taglio della sua spada, E non l'hai fatto star fermo in piè nella battaglia.
Yea thou hast turned the edge of his sword, Neither hast thou caused him to stand in the battle;
44 Tu l'hai spogliato del suo splendore, Ed hai traboccato in terra il suo trono.
Thou hast brought to an end his splendour, And, his throne—to the ground, hast thou hurled;
45 Tu hai scorciati i giorni della sua giovanezza; Tu l'hai coperto di vergogna. (Sela)
Thou hast shortened the days of his youths, —Thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Infino a quando, o Signore, ti nasconderai tu? [Ed] arderà l'ira tua come un fuoco, in perpetuo?
How long, O Yahweh, Wilt thou hide thyself utterly? Shall thine indignation, burn like fire?
47 Ricordati quanto poco tempo io ho da vivere nel mondo; Perchè avresti tu creati in vano tutti i figliuoli degli uomini?
Remember how short-lived, I, am, Wherefore, in vain, hast thou created all the sons of Adam?
48 Chi [è] l'uomo [che] viva, senza veder [mai] la morte? Che scampi la sua vita di man del sepolcro? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
Who is the man that shall live, and not see death? That can deliver his soul from the hand of hades. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Ove [sono], o Signore, le tue benignità antiche, [Le quali] tu giurasti a Davide per la tua verita?
Where are thy former lovingkindnesses, O My Lord? Thou didst swear unto David, in thy faithfulness!
50 Ricordati, o Signore, del vituperio fatto a' tuoi servitori, Di quello che io porto in seno; [Del vituperio fattoci da] tutti i grandi popoli.
Remember, O My Lord, the reproach of thy servants, I have carried in my bosom the insult of the peoples:
51 Conciossiachè i tuoi nemici abbiano vituperate, o Signore, Abbiano vituperate le vestigie del tuo unto.
In that thy foes have reproached, O Yahweh, In that they have reproached the footsteps of thine Anointed One!
52 Benedetto [sia] il Signore in eterno. Amen, Amen.
Blessed be Yahweh to times age-abiding, Amen, and Amen!
