Salmi 66

1 Cantico di salmo, [dato] al Capo de' Musici DATE voci di allegrezza a Dio, [Voi] tutti [gli abitanti del]la terra;

To the Chief Musician. A Melodious Song. Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth;

2 Salmeggiate la gloria del suo Nome; Rendete la sua lode gloriosa.

Praise ye in song the glory of his Name, Celebrate the glory of his praise:

3 Dite a Dio: O quanto [son] tremende le tue opere! Per la grandezza della tua forza, i tuoi nemici ti s'infingono.

Say unto God—How fearful in thy doings, Through the abounding of thy power, shall thy foes come cringing unto thee;

4 Tutta la terra ti adora, e ti salmeggia; Salmeggia il tuo Nome. (Sela)

All the earth, shall bow themselves down to thee, And sing praises unto thee, Shall praise in song thy Name. (Selah)

5 Venite, e vedete i fatti di Dio; [Egli è] tremendo [in] opere, sopra i figliuoli degli uomini.

Come and see the doings of God, —Fearful in deed toward the sons of men:

6 Egli convertì [già] il mare in asciutto; [Il suo popolo] passò il fiume a piè; Quivi noi ci rallegrammo in lui.

He turned the sea into dry land, Through the stream, crossed they over on foot, There did we rejoice in him:

7 Egli, colla sua potenza, signoreggia in eterno; I suoi occhi riguardano le genti; I ribelli non s'innalzeranno. (Sela)

Who ruleth, in his might, unto times age abiding, His eyes, over the nations, keep watch, The rebellious, let them not exalt themselves. (Selah)

8 [Voi] popoli, benedite il nostro Dio; E fate risonare il suono della sua lode.

Bless our God, O ye peoples, And cause to be heard, the sound of his praise; —

9 [Egli è quel] che ha rimessa in vita l'anima nostra; E non ha permesso che i nostri piedi cadessero.

Who hath set our soul among the living, And hath not suffered, our foot, to slip.

10 Perciocchè, o Dio, tu ci hai provati; Tu ci hai posti al cimento, come si pone l'argento.

For thou didst prove us, O God, Thou didst refine us, according to the refining of silver:

11 Tu ci avevi fatti entrar nella rete; Tu avevi posto uno strettoio a' nostri lombi.

Thou didst bring us into the hunter’s net, Thou didst lay a load upon our loins;

12 Tu avevi fatto cavalcar gli uomini in sul nostro capo; Eravamo entrati nel fuoco e nell'acqua; Ma tu ci hai tratti fuori in [luogo di] refrigerio.

Thou didst let men ride at our head; We went into fire and into water, But thou didst bring us forth into freedom.

13 Io entrerò nella tua Casa con olocausti; Io ti pagherò i miei voti;

I will enter thy house with ascending-sacrifices, I will pay unto thee my vows,

14 I quali le mie labbra han proferiti, E la mia bocca ha pronunziati, mentre io era distretto.

Which my lips uttered, And my mouth spake, in my distress.

15 Io ti offerirò olocausti di [bestie] grasse, Con profumo di montoni; Io sacrificherò buoi e becchi. (Sela)

Ascending-sacrifices of fatlings, will I cause to ascend unto thee, With the perfume of rams, I will offer bulls, with he-goats. (Selah)

16 Venite, [voi] tutti che temete Iddio, [ed] udite; Io [vi] racconterò quello ch'egli ha fatto all'anima mia.

Come! hearken—that I may recount, all ye reverers of God, What he hath done for my soul: —

17 Io gridai a lui colla mia bocca, Ed egli fu esaltato sotto la mia lingua.

Unto him—with my mouth, did I cry, And high praise was under my tongue.

18 Se io avessi mirato ad alcuna iniquità nel mio cuore, Il Signore non [mi] avrebbe ascoltato;

If, iniquity, I had cared for in my heart, My Lord, had not heard me!

19 Ma certo Iddio mi ha ascoltato, Egli ha atteso alla voce della mia orazione.

But in truth, God hath heard, He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Benedetto [sia] Iddio Che non ha rigettata la mia orazione, Nè [ritratta] da me la sua benignità.

Blessed be God, Who hath not turned away my prayer, Nor his own lovingkindness from me.
