Salmi 58

1 Mictam di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici, [sopra] Al-tashet DI vero, parlate voi giustamente? Giudicate voi dirittamente, o figliuoli di uomini?

To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, Michtam of David. Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

2 Anzi voi fabbricate perversità nel cuor vostro; Voi bilanciate la violenza delle vostre mani in terra.

Yes, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

3 [Questi] empi sono stati alienati fin dalla matrice; [Questi] parlatori di menzogna sono stati sviati fin dal seno [della madre].

The wicked are estranged from their birth: they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

4 Hanno del veleno simile al veleno del serpente; [Sono] come l'aspido sordo, che si tura le orecchie;

Their poison [is] like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder [that] stoppeth her ear;

5 Il qual non ascolta la voce degl'incantatori, [Nè] di chi è saputo in fare incantagioni.

Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

6 O Dio, stritola loro i denti nella lor bocca; O Signore, rompi i mascellari de' leoncelli.

Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

7 Struggansi come acque, e vadansene via; Tiri [Iddio] le sue saette, e in uno stante sieno ricisi.

Let them melt away as waters [which] run continually: [when] he bendeth [his bow to shoot] his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

8 Trapassino, come una lumaca [che] si disfa; [Come] l'abortivo di una donna, non veggano il sole.

As a snail [which] melteth, let [every one of them] pass away: [like] the untimely birth of a woman, [that] they may not see the sun.

9 Avanti che le vostre pignatte sentano [il fuoco] del pruno, Porti via la bufera il verde ed il secco.

Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in [his] wrath.

10 Il giusto si rallegrerà, quando avrà veduta la vendetta; Egli bagnerà i suoi piedi nel sangue dell'empio.

The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

11 E ciascuno dirà: Certo egli vi è frutto pel giusto; [Vi è] pure un Dio giudice in terra.

So that a man shall say, Verily [there is] a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
