Salmi 55

1 Maschil di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici, sopra Neghinot O DIO, porgi l'orecchio alla mia orazione; E non nasconderti dalla mia supplicazione.

To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme of David to give instruction. Heare my prayer, O God, and hide not thy selfe from my supplication.

2 Attendi a me, e rispondimi; Io mi lagno nella mia orazione, e romoreggio;

Hearken vnto me, and answere me: I mourne in my prayer, and make a noyse,

3 Per lo gridar del nemico, per l'oppressione dell'empio; Perciocchè essi mi traboccano addosso delle calamità, E mi nimicano con ira.

For the voyce of the enemie, and for the vexation of ye wicked, because they haue brought iniquitie vpon me, and furiously hate me.

4 Il mio cuore è angosciato dentro di me; E spaventi mortali mi sono caduti addosso.

Mine heart trembleth within mee, and the terrours of death are fallen vpon me.

5 Paura e tremito mi è sopraggiunto; E terrore mi ha coperto.

Feare and trembling are come vpon mee, and an horrible feare hath couered me.

6 Onde io ho detto: Oh! avessi io delle ale, come le colombe! Io me ne volerei, e mi riparerei [in alcun luogo].

And I said, Oh that I had wings like a doue: then would I flie away and rest.

7 Ecco, io me ne fuggirei lontano; Io dimorerei nel deserto. (Sela)

Beholde, I woulde take my flight farre off, and lodge in the wildernes. (Selah)

8 Io mi affretterei di scampare Dal vento impetuoso [e] dal turbo.

Hee would make haste for my deliuerance from the stormie winde and tempest.

9 Disperdi[li], Signore; dividi le lor lingue; Perciocchè io ho vedute violenze e risse nella città.

Destroy, O Lord, and deuide their tongues: for I haue seene crueltie and strife in the citie.

10 Essa n'è circondata d'intorno alle sue mura, giorno e notte; E in mezzo ad essa [vi è] iniquità ed ingiuria.

Day and night they goe about it vpon the walles thereof: both iniquitie and mischiefe are in the middes of it.

11 Dentro di essa non [vi è altro che] malizie; Frodi ed inganni non si muovono dalle sue piazze.

Wickednes is in the middes thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streetes.

12 Perciocchè non [è stato] un mio nemico [che] mi ha fatto vituperio; Altrimenti, io l'avrei comportato; Non [è stato] uno che mi avesse in odio [che] si è levato contro a me; Altrimenti, io mi sarei nascosto da lui.

Surely mine enemie did not defame mee: for I could haue borne it: neither did mine aduersarie exalt himselfe against mee: for I would haue hid me from him.

13 Anzi, [sei stato] tu, [ch'eri], secondo la mia estimazione, Il mio conduttore, ed il mio famigliare.

But it was thou, O man, euen my companion, my guide and my familiar:

14 Che comunicavamo dolcemente insieme i [nostri] segreti, [E] andavamo di compagnia nella Casa di Dio.

Which delited in consulting together, and went into the House of God as companions.

15 Metta loro la morte la mano addosso, Scendano sotterra tutti vivi; Perciocchè nel mezzo di loro, nelle lor dimore, [non vi è altro che] malvagità. (Sheol h7585)

Let death sense vpon them: let them goe downe quicke into the graue: for wickednes is in their dwellings, euen in the middes of them. (Sheol h7585)

16 Quant'è a me, io griderò a Dio, E il Signore mi salverà.

But I will call vnto God, and the Lord will saue me.

17 La sera, la mattina, e in sul mezzodì, io orerò e romoreggerò; Ed egli udirà la mia voce.

Euening and morning, and at noone will I pray, and make a noyse, and he wil heare my voice.

18 Egli riscuoterà l'anima mia dall'assalto che mi è dato, [E la metterà] in pace; Perciocchè essi son contro a me in gran numero.

He hath deliuered my soule in peace from the battel, that was against me: for many were with me.

19 Iddio [mi] udirà, e li abbatterà; Egli, [dico], che dimora in ogni eternità; (Sela) Perciocchè giammai non si mutano, E non temono Iddio.

God shall heare and afflict them, euen hee that reigneth of olde, (Selah) because they haue no changes, therefore they feare not God.

20 Hanno messa la mano addosso a quelli che vivevano in buona pace con loro; Hanno rotto il lor patto.

Hee layed his hande vpon such, as be at peace with him, and he brake his couenant.

21 Le lor bocche son più dolci che burro; Ma [ne]'cuori loro [vi è] guerra; Le lor parole son più morbide che olio, Ma son tante coltellate.

The wordes of his mouth were softer then butter, yet warre was in his heart: his words were more gentle then oyle, yet they were swordes.

22 Rimetti nel Signore il tuo peso, ed egli ti sosterrà; Egli non permetterà giammai che il giusto caggia.

Cast thy burden vpon the Lord, and hee shall nourish thee: he wil not suffer the righteous to fall for euer.

23 Ma tu, o Dio, farai scender coloro nel pozzo della perdizione; Gli uomini di sangue e di frode Non compieranno a mezzo i giorni loro; Ma io mi confiderò in te.

And thou, O God, shalt bring them downe into the pitte of corruption: the bloudie, and deceitfull men shall not liue halfe their dayes: but I will trust in thee.
